  1. yeah, kinda pisses me off. misleading people like that. i'm definitely going to be writing to the company.
  2. I am seriously so annoyed with food labelers right now. Between crisco and benefiber.... Anyway, here's the deal. I bought a tub of butter flavored crisco. Have used the plain before, no problems. At the store, I called the # on the back of the tub, and the automated voice said they would clearly list all allergens in the ingredient list. So I used it...
  3. Seriously, what the freaking heck???? I got a free sample in the mail today of the "New, Gluten Free" Benefiber. Right on the bottle, it says Gluten Free. So I looked at the ingredient list to see what was in it, and the one and only ingredient listed is wheat dextrin. Tell me how this makes sense? I was half tempted to try it out, but thought I'd talk...
  4. Here's the link to the famous "Lorka Bread". The post calls it the most delicious home made bread...and I will echo that! It is amazing! I usually double the recipe so I can stick a loaf in the freezer! It's the best texture I've found in a gluten-free bread, and it tastes great! I've made sandwiches, french toast, regular toast and bread crumbs with it numerous...

  8. I would pick white rice flour, potato starch, potato flour, tapioca starch, and cornstarch. That's all I ever use. I have two tupperwares of the following mixes in my pantry at all times: Gluten-Free (gluten-free) Mix - from Bette Hagman's Gluten Free Gourmet 3 c. rice flour 1 c. potato starch (NOT potato flour)
  9. I'd do a dairy cheat for See's Oh, this sounds so good! Gonna have to go out and get me some strawberries! OMG I do this all the time...I feel so sneaky doing it too, but when I get in the mood for chocolate I run to the pantry (supposed to be on a diet ) can you share this recipe? this sounds amazing! What brand...

  14. Decided either this was happening, or I was suffering from a dairy allergy (my allergist said either could be a possibility...) so I stopped eating dairy a couple months ago. I've felt a lot better, and have lost 19 lbs!! Sorry to hear that Beth. Hope you can figure out what was causing you to feel sick
  15. There has been a lot of good feedback about cruises on this site. I'd vote for that if I were the one going I have had really good experiences with gluten-free dining in Las Vegas and Portland, Oregon. Oh, also San Diego, we stayed at the Paradise Point resort, and they were great too!
  16. I also have given up on the mixes. Tried a lot of them when I was first diagnosed, and didn't love any. So here's my favorite gluten-free website, and they have GREAT bread recipes. I keep a large tupperware of both the flour mixes they use in my kitchen to help throw things together more quickly. I also keep lots of muffin liners handy I make a lot of...

  18. I also am a huge fan of purefit bars. thankfully they sell them at one of the local grocery stores here, and it's cheaper than on the website, so every month or so, i head over there and stock up on 'em
  19. haha i made a carrot cake this weekend which fell apart as i was trying to take it out of the pan....but i realized that i had forgotten to add xanthan gum well, at least it tasted delicious!
  20. I have tried some of these (chocolate, pecan). I am very curious to try the coconut one and the cookie dough.
  21. I use a featherlight mix, and love it! I keep a big tupperware of it mixed up in my cupboard for whenever I need it. Featherlight Mix - from Bette Hagman's Gluten Free Gourmet Bakes Bread 1 c. Rice flour 1 c. cornstarch 1 c. tapioca starch 1 Tbs. potato flour (NOT potato starch) Mix well.
