  1. Sounds like this recipe: Open Original Shared Link 4 c. chopped apples (4 medium) 2 c. sugar 1
  2. I have talked w/ my GI and a lot of people who have said Align is a good one. It does have soy and dairy in it, which was a concern for me, as I've been avoiding both foods for awhile now. But my doctor said that because it's such an insignificant amount, that it shouldn't bother me. I've been on it for 4 days now, and other than the reported bloating/minor...
  3. Forgot to grab your post. Genius idea, by the way! And I'm definitely trying that recipe! Yum!
  4. What's a good way to make turkey stock in a nutshell? Mmm, good idea! What are your plans? Have you offered to help out in the kitchen? Maybe be in charge of a dessert or side dish, something you'd really like to have? Let us know if you need help w/ a recipe! As far as a pie, I made a really good dutch apple pumpkin pie last year....
  5. So, we had our pre-thanksgiving dinner last night. It totally rocked! I took ang1e0251's idea of covering the turkey breast with bacon strips, then threw it in the crock pot w/ a cup of chicken broth, some onion powder, and lots of pepper. It was so tender after 8 hrs on low that the meat fell right off the bones. I did flip it once, halfway through. We couldn...
  6. So, I've stopped eating potatoes b/c they seem to make me sick What other nightshades do I need to be cautious of? I think I might also have a problem w/ onions. But only sometimes? Anyway, w/ the holidays coming up, I'm trying to figure out what to do as far as a replacement for my favorite food. Any helpful hints/recipes? Are sweet potatoes ok to eat...
  7. I was thinking about making a green bean casserole w/ fried onions (like onion rings), or just minus the onions altogether, since I seem to be sensitive to them. I've seen a few recipes that call for bacon. That might be a good topping/sub for onions.
  8. hm, i'd give this a try. i'll have to pick up some nutritional yeast at the store on monday. i've been missin' my cheese!
  9. good website! gave me some ideas for yummy veggie dishes
  10. Oh, I'm so glad you found something that worked well for your daughter I like the idea of mushroom powder. I usually use a can of chopped mushrooms, and to hide the pieces from my DH, I'll throw the finished soup in the VitaMix blender I might have to give this variation a try though! I always freeze my extra soup! I like to scoop it out by the cup inot...
  11. This really does sound incredible! I'm totally bustin' out the bacon to cover my "pre-thanksgiving" turkey dinner this sunday! Thanks for the idea! I think this is a great plan! I'm totally with ya!
  12. I am so excited for the holidays. My first Thanksgiving gluten-free terrified me! This year I'm gonna have to make a few more adjustments, as I am now DF as well. But I'm up for it! Here are a few of my favorite recipes: Stuffing, made with Lorka's flax bread: Open Original Shared Link Turkey, roasted, maybe w/ some veggies. I'm opting for just...
  13. Cutting out dairy was a struggle for me. I was such a cheese and milk person. First of all, I couldn't replace milk w/ any substitutes, as far as drinking or pouring over cereal. I know some people can, but I couldn't. So, don't be disappointed if you can't either. I've learned to enjoy my Chex and Gorilla Munch plain as snacks instead of breakfast. However...
  14. thanks y'all! i'm gonna have to try a test batch of all these recipes to decide which would work best w/ the cake. Jenny, have you ever made the frosting, then decided you wanted to add more cocoa? would it work adding additional cocoa at the end?
  15. So, for my birthday I'm making a chocolate cake (or cupcakes) to share w/ friends and coworkers. But I'm trying to figure out a good frosting for the cake. Either chocolate flavored, or anything that would taste good on a chocolate cake would work. Something tried and true would be great! Thanks!
  16. I love prolo! I work for a TMJ specialist, and I get prolotherapy whenever I have really bad migraine episodes! It works wonders!
  17. cute cake, looks like it was filled with love glad it worked for you!
  18. Yeah, I'm not 100% convinced either. This is what I plan on trying for now. Also thought about this. This isn't something you have a dr do, right? Just order a test? I've looked into this diet a lot. I might try it for awhile to balance myself out. I actually spent a lot of time on the help for IBS forum a few years ago, before...
  19. So, went to the GI today, and he said he also thinks I have IBS, which is what has been causing all my reactions to other foods. He's gonna do some bloodwork and an endoscopy, but said to start eating on the IBS diet. I just wondered who else out there has been told they have both, and if there are any hints to dealing w/ both
  20. thanks! can't wait to give it a try!
  21. me either sounds like a lot of fun! i used to love having family in town, until i couldn't eat out b/c of so many intolerances...ah, well, such is life!
  22. here is another great looking recipe: Open Original Shared Link i was planning on giving this one a try i quit going to starbucks a few months ago because i got sick about 50% of the time
  23. i think this is pretty much the key. i don't know if you can cut back at work, but if possible, i'd say do it. you definitely aren't gaining much in the long run if you're damaging your relationship. like Shay said, a marriage is constant work! you shouldn't treat it like a chore, but it is like a full time job - if you slack off on upkeep, or get lazy about...
  24. Ah, that sounds amazing! I made some butternut squash soup the other day: Open Original Shared Link It was good, but a little bland, and too sweet. I'm gonna have to try Karina's recipe! She uses a lot more curry powder. Thanks Sure, I'd love the recipe. I have no idea what lavash is
  25. Wonka, that chutney sounds really good! What else do you put it on? I've been craving cranberries! Namely, cranberry nut bread! Mmm, that is another favorite fall recipe! Thanks for reminding me of it
