  1. So, we're thinking of selling our townhome, and upgrading to a great new home. We've never done it before. Thinking of doing it w/o a real estate agent. Any advice?
  2. Oooh, good, I've been thinking I need to buy some more online, and wondered who was best to buy from. That's a great price!
  3. I did this as well. Grabbed a $10 grinder at walmart. I use it for processing nuts, flax seed, and dried herbs/peppers. I don't know how it would work making a butter, but I'll experiment and let you know I've been thinking about making almond butter (for hard nuts like almonds, I would just use my blender to process them, then maybe mix into a butter in...
  4. I was told (by my DH and doc) that the reason you get cold after eating is because (especially if you eat a lot) all the blood is going to your middle, to help with the digestion process, and that means less blood flow/energy in the rest of the body. I get cold after eating ALL the time!
  5. mmm, these sound really good i love me some chocolate pumpkin muffins! i found a great recipe that i converted into more of a cupcake than a muffin. i think i'm gonna have to give this one a go thanks for sharing!
  6. ooh, can't wait to try this recipe! and wow, your pic looks delicious what is that???
  7. Yeah, it was pretty crazy. Thankfully (in a way...) we had to get up early for my husband's company's "morning meetings" so we were able to avoid some of the crowds. Plus, we ate in the room several mornings, which was also good. As far as the log goes, I just kept a small notepad in my backpack, and tried to write in it after each meal. If not, I forgot...
  8. Here's a great place we found in Tampa - Bahama Breeze. I had some very yummy seafood and rice there Open Original Shared Link
  9. here y'all go: https://www.celiac.com/gluten-free/index.php?showtopic=55570 (it's the post i made about my trip. you could also check out my blog. i posted pics ...click on my profile) Jillian, sounds like the only place I went to that's on your list was the mama melrose's. it was awesome! i had the best gluten-free/DF pizza! from my experience...
  10. *Taken from my blog. I'd post all the pictures, but I don't know how to do that on this site sorry* Walt Disney World 2009 Vacation - Dining Review So, I just had the best vacation of my gluten-free life! Seriously, I could sing praises all day and night for Disney! They rocked my world! I was so spoiled, I felt like a princess! I kept a log...
  11. I have found that oils don't work as well in most cookie recipes. What I do is use spectrum shortening (which someone else posted about), and only use half the called for amount. I then substitute applesauce in for the remaining half. Lots of fruit purees like applesauce, or canned pumpkin, work well as a butter sub. Good luck
  12. I just got back from a totally awesome gluten-free/df trip to Disney World! I ate like royalty! I seriously felt so spoiled! There was only one place in the whole park that didn't impress me (the San Angel Inn, which was too bad, b/c I remember loving that restaurant when I went as a kid. That was pre-gluten-free/df days though). Didn't get glutened. May...
  13. The only problem I have had with them is triggering an irritable bowel attack (due to the amount of fat/calories, and lack of anything substantial).
  14. The last time I went, I ordered a side salad (they brought me some oil and vinegar to put on it, but you could also bring your own - Kraft Italian dressing is DF last time I checked). They also made me salmon cooked in olive oil w/ herbs, and some steamed asparagus in olive oil. It was pretty good.
  15. another option is to freeze your coconut milk. just pour what you don't use into a small tupperware. i do that all the time, and it works just fine. i just know that a lot of times it's cheaper to buy the bigger something than the smaller one.
  16. Cinnamon muffins would be good! I would probably put a streusel topping on them - something like this: Streusel Topping
  17. yeah, definitely can't do that diet (b/c of my IBS). plus, i've lost all but 4 of the lbs i wanted to lose by good ol' fashioned restricted dieting (medical-restrictions, that is), exercising, and getting my thyroid in order thanks for the info though. i've had some relatives lose quite a bit of weight on this diet.
  18. here's another great blog. she does mostly dairy free cooking: glutenfreegoddess.blogspot.com
  19. i second this one, this was my favorite plate before i stopped eating dairy. my husband rocks, whenever we go to carabbas, he always asks them not to bring any bread (b/c he knows i loved it). i've never had any glutening problems at carabbas (just dairy...).
  20. oooh, thanks for sharing. i've only had quinoa a couple of ways, and it's kinda boring plain. here's another great recipe i'm dying to try: Open Original Shared Link
  21. yay! i will have to look for a good df cheese to try this!
  22. i would probably still buy the cereal if they took the label off. it just makes me sad, b/c the "gluten-free" label makes things easier for me, and it always makes me happy to see that on something at the grocery store.
  23. i've been craving a nice hot bowl of chicken and rice soup the past few days, so that's my suggestion. boil some chicken legs/pieces in water for half an hour. remove from water, take the meat off, then throw the bones back in. add chopped celery, carrots, onions, maybe a little garlic, and boil for an hour or so. shred the chicken, cook up some rice, and...
  24. Here are a couple links to egg free mayo recipes that might do. Open Original Shared Link The second recipe on here just calls for soymilk, but I bet any other milk sub would work (maybe just add a little less). Open Original Shared Link And once you've found a good mayo or base, I have the best recipe for Ranch dressing. It comes from Carol Fenster...
  25. Anyone have a bad cruise experience? My husband's company is planning a cruise for next year, and I'm wondering which companies to recommend they avoid.
