  1. Yeah it is SO nice! Just make sure you have tasted the foods you want before you buy 6 cartons of them...that would suck! They also have regular foods that aren't under the gluten free section that you could stock up on Great deal!!
  2. Oh I miss the bread! Once in a while I will splurge on some EnerG bread and save it for good lunch meals...my favorite sandwich is cream cheese, a little dill and garlic, topped with sliced salmon (thin, like the lunch meat) all toasted and melty. It's soo good! I'll check out the website, cuz i need some good recipe ideas as well. I binge on chips and salsa...
  3. That's weird. i know I stopped drinking it because it made me sick...A good question...someone will know it for sure
  4. I get sulky too when we eat out. Especially when I see people around me eating such good things and I have to get the "boring" food. I feel like I haven't quite gotten the whole thing down though. Cooking isn't a chore for me, I just don't feel very creative, so I'll eat the same things that I KNOW how to make and then get tired of them and long for something...
  5. I live in Provo, about half an hour south of SLC, but I know a lot of these places are good. I've been to Carabbas (very good!) Macaroni Grill has a "grill" menu that you can get meat, and just order veggies instead of pasta. I also took some gluten-free bread once and asked them to make me bruschetta (toast w/ tomato stuff on top). It was YUMMY! I...
  6. I always ask if the fries are cooked in oil with the chicken nuggets. Yeah that's a drag. I have taken a liking to making my own fries though, especially with red potatoes I want to see if I can get my hands on some Red Robin's seasoning salt, that was my favorite place to eat fries, but I know they don't cook separately from the other stuff! Even baking...
  7. So many good things! Steak, chocolate, potatoes, fruit, tomatoes (mmmm...). I think I would die if I had to give up chips I am a sucker for Terra kettle chips, and I grew up eating mexican food as well (chips and salsa, bean dip, guac....) Hooray for Mission Tortilla Chips! The first gluten-free thing I ever realized I had in my house!
  8. How's the pricing compare to where you normally shop?
  9. Hm, I too miss the good ol' fish sticks! I grew up on those things!! I'll have to look around and see if I can find them Wasn't sure if anyone made gluten-free fish sticks. I did experiment a few weeks ago with a potato crust halibut recipe, which turned out pretty good I added too much season salt though I liked the potato flavor/texture though.
  10. I was in the Providence Bridge Pedal last week, and on the ride I passed a house in the middle of a neighborhood downtown that was all decorated with candy, and I read a sign that said it had gluten free candy and cookies inside. I don't remember what road we were on, or even where we were, but I guess if someone knows what I'm talking about, or feels adventureous...
  11. That is really weird! Maybe the gluten is from what they fed the chicken before it laid the eggs. I know that some companies make egg white that says gluten free on it. I don't know what to tell you about the white eggs. I can't imagine how they would inject wheat into them.
  12. I've had several attempts at making a pizza dough. I didn't take the time to read the posts here, so I hope I'm not being repetative. I LOVE the Gluten Free Pantry french bread and pizza mix! It doesn't need to rise or anything! I made a small pizza and a couple of mini loaves of the bread with it! It was yummy! I also tried Bette Hagman's Quick pizza recipe...
  13. Hm, a good question. I know that the Gluten Free Pantry has a good french bread and pizza mix. I've never tried it for this, but I bet you could make it into english muffins. If I knew how to make them I would give it a shot That would be nicer than buying the expensive kind!
  14. I am wondering what everyone else does about this. I LOVED eating fettuccini alfredo before being diagnosed, and i know that most restaurants use flour in their recipes. Does anyone have a good recipe for a creamy white sauce that's gluten-free? And how have you used it? Thanks all!
  15. Ok so technically, I'm no longer a "teen" (22 years old...) but I figured there were more people in this area that could relate to me. I am starting school next week at the local community college and am rather nervous about it. I attended a year of college 3 years ago, where I failed miserably (because I met my husband-to-be), and haven't been to school...
  16. Thank goodness it's gluten free cuz I love it! I buy the powder mix stuff at walmart and will mix it up into a water bottle to drink after I work out! It rocks!
  17. I had Amy's gluten-free Spinach and Feta pizza last week. I've attempted to make my own pizzas several times and failed miserably so this was nice! The crust was too thin on the outside and got a bit crispy, but I enjoyed the rest of it. Definitely planning on adding some tomato sauce and some canadian bacon next time. I also found a great pizza crust dough...
  18. sounds very good! i used to live on chicken nuggets...I'll have to give this a go
  19. Thanks for replying everyone . So whether they're fissures or hemmroids...what can I do to ease the discomfort? Use cortizone cream? Neosporin? Or do I just have to suffer? lol! I was going crazy last night in bed and finally got up and put a little witch hazel on a cotton ball and applied that. It helped, a bit. Anyway, thx again!
  20. Ok, I've got this problem, and I'm starting to think it might be gluten-related. I've been living gluten-free for almost 2 months and last week accidentally ingested some. Had my stomach, gas, bloating symptoms, but I've also had another symptom which makes me think this correlates. I have this horrible irritation around the outside of my colon (sorry...

    ARCHIVED I Hate Kaiser!

That's annoying! Doctors suck sometimes! I was "diagnosed" with just about everything else before celiac came into the picture. Some of these people just don't know their Social Skills 101! I had a nurse at the dermatologist laugh to her assistant as she was looking at my moles (checking for skin cancer)...I had a couple of bad scratches on my arm from my...
  22. I don't think you should be embarassed. I'm sure everyone here has some embarassing questions or stories to share. We all have one thing in common...most of us anyway Gas and bloating were my main (and most painful) gluten symptoms before I went gluten-free. I usually just take some anti-gas pills if I hurt, drink some mint or fennel tea, and if I am planning...
  23. Thanks for the tips. I need to stop making excuses and keeping myself from church. I'm also going to give the zucchini bread another go with your advice GFBetsy. Wish me luck
  24. Great ideas! I was wondering though, what kind of bread you all pack for sandwiches, because the kind I've used so far is very dry and crumbly, and not at all good unless toasted. My fave lunch at home though, is cream cheese on a toast with some dill and sliced salmon on top. Yum! Taco salads are good too! I always save the individualized packets from fast...
  25. Mmm, really does sound delicious! I haven't had cake in so long! I had a thought while reading the recipe. There was an amazing recipe I found on an IBS site a few months back for individualized cakes. Basically just the same concept, only you cooked the cake in a mug. It was also cake mix with chocolate pudding. If anyone feels up to it, I'm sure we would...
