  1. Hey guys, just wanted to know if anyone knew of a good thai restaurant in Provo or nearby, either before or after going gluten-free...I have been craving good thai food but haven't ventured out here. I found 2 restaurants on the web: Thai Pepper Restaurant Llc 283 E 300 S (801) 370-9894 Provo, UT 84606 map it! Thai Ruby Restaurant 744 E 8...
  2. So I was diagnosed with major depression 8 years ago, got on antidepressants 5 years ago (when I moved away from home), and have been up and down on that roller coaster since. I know celiac disease causes lots of other problems, and I thought depression was one of them. Thought that might be partly why I've got both. I also have hypoglycemia which I have...
  3. Yeah, I would have to say that even if the seasoning was safe, the CC risk is HUGE! Whenever we go out for fast food, I opt for Wendy's baked potato and chili. I have been told that some wendy's chains are safe, but you need to ask if they cook anything else with the fries. I personally prefer OreIda fries or homemade potato wedges better (yummier and healthier...

    ARCHIVED Hello

Welcome to the forum! I am a former northwesterner (from Portland and Vancouver areas). It's nice to hear that your life as a celiac has gotten easier, comforting for us noobies I miss the area, there's always something fun going on in the big cities! I was in town last month for the Providince Bridge Pedal (don't know if you heard about that way up where...
  5. hm, haven't had much time to search for a potato bread recipe. i tried making mashed potatoes with a bit of plain yogurt and spices last night...the yogurt made it kind of sour. i've made lots of soups and stews, and oven fried potatoes, had some hashbrowns the other morning w/ breakfast. my favorite recipe though, i would have to say, is mashed potatoes...
  6. mmm, the chicken sounds yummy (especially w/ bacon!!). a good idea for a post! my favorite foods are mashed potatoes with goat cheese (blended in instead of milk) and pizza (bette hagman's reg recipe made into pizza crusts, topped with sauce, veggies and canadian bacon and mozzarella). i also love tomatoes...in just about everything! the one food i haven...
  7. awesome! thx for the info!
  8. I like bette hagman's books, and i also have printed just about enough recipes to make a book from the recipe websites allrecipes.com and epicurious.com Just do a wheat free or gluten free search they're great!
  9. sounds most excellent! i'm excited to try! when I was in high school, i ate a blueberry bagel every morning! i miss that so much!!
  10. Hm, I've never tried baking Pamela's cookies. I have tried the premade pecan shortbread and dark chocolate w/ chocolate chunk cookies, and really liked both. I have however baked the pancake mix, and it turned out well. I think with cookies, you can't measure "done" by the toothpick theory. Sometimes when you pull them out of the oven, they cook longer just...
  11. I've seen this before! I immediately quit buying splenda and any beverages/gums/candy with splenda in them!
  12. Do you all use prebought mixes or from scratch recipes?
  13. All i know is that when I drink anything carbonated I get gassy (both ends). That's one of the things they tell you to avoid when on an IBS diet is carbonation. Maybe it's that??
  14. what a pain in the rear! seriously people...why not let water be WATER!!!
  15. hmm, i've been giving the idea a thought as well. i have been told by numerous people here in the forums that i should get a bread machine, and after all my failures at oven baking bread, i'm about ready to invest! now i just have to find which one works best....will stay tuned for any suggestions
  16. Do you all buy right from the kinnickinnick online store or from another online store? I just know they're kind of 'spensive...i love the english muffins though!
  17. mmm, sounds good. anyone ever try w/ tortilla chips? that's all i got at home....
  18. hm, i don't know. unless it bothers you, I don't think i'd worry about it. diet changes definitely affect your bm's. at least from my experience...
  19. lol a big time learning process!
  20. Can't say I've ever heard of this recipe, but I do have some good squash recipes myself I would love to try the dumplings! I love butternut squash soup (only way I've ever had butternut other than oven baked). Hope someone has it!
  21. Hmm, well, I've always been a hungry person, not really noticed much change since going gluten-free, except that now I crave things I can't have...lol In high school, my friends called me "the girl who eats everything" cuz I was always hungry, always eating, and never gained anything...ah, to be back in those higher metabolism days again...
  22. I don't know anything about the stools, so I guess it's good that everyone else here does As far as the dreams go, I know that I get really weird dreams when I am on my period (due to the pain, I think...as they are often incorporated with pain). Also when I am really stressed I often have strange dreams. Oh, and when I'm not sleeping well (like the last...
  23. Thanks for all the tips. I think I may have to invest in a breadmaker...once my husband starts making money again (stupid sales jobs!). Betsy, I would love to get together and see how you do it! I'll be at the meeting, we can hook up there. Thanks all
  24. Yeah, bette hagman says that too. I did, I let it cook for 15 min, then foiled for 45 minutes. Baked at 400, i think...can't quite remember. But it said to bake for an hour, after an hour the dough was still very gooey.
