  1. Unless you have stores around, or can just make naturally gluten free meals, I would suggest using amazon .com they have tons of gluten free food in the grocery and gourmet sections. let us know, there's lots of knowledgeable people here who are ready to help
  2. good call! i like the muffin tin idea...i might just have to bake a pre-thanksgiving batch this week and "test them out"
  3. pretty sure wheat starch is a no....don't quote me though marshmallows should be okay, just check the package to make sure there's no glutenous ingredients.
  4. Some other things... I don't know if you have chick-fil-a there, but they use a dedicated fryer for their fries (which are very good!) Usually if you ask a place, they will tell you whether they cook their fries in the same oil as their nuggets and stuff. I like to get salads at red robins... When you go out, just tell your friend that he needs to tell...
  5. These are the only places I have been where I've been able to order from a gluten-free menu. Both places were great! No glutening! I have had good experiences at red robin's, but I've also had bad ones I usually order the cob salad no bread, no bleu cheese (and will send it back if I see either, b/c I have gotten ill from it before). I know PF Changs is...
  6. Awesome! Good work!!! I'm sure many people will be thankful for your efforts I'm gonna have to give this a try!
  7. It really makes me sad to hear that your family is so cruel about this. It is a hard diet to live by, and I don't know what I would do if my husband weren't supportive. I basically tell him when something he's eating or thinking of eating will hurt me, make me want it, make me sad...and usually he respects that. But sometimes I just have to leave the room...
  8. Guhlia posted this (and I know I'm dying to try them!!): Pumpkin Pie "Cupcakes" INGREDIENTS * 1 (15 ounce) can pumpkin * 1 (14 ounce) can Sweetened Condensed Milk (NOT evaporated milk) * 2 eggs * 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon * 1/2 teaspoon ground ginger * 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg * 1/2 teaspoon salt DIRECTIONS 1. Preheat...
  9. mmm, this has always been one of my fave meals (we grew up on the frozen kind!!) I was thinking...could this be premade then frozen? like the storebought ones? i'd love to do that for my days off from the kitchen
  10. My favorite meals are mexican food! Never dull! And practically the same ingredients! Nachos (we like roast beef on our nachos) Tacos, burritos, enchiladas, taco salad, quesadillas (good snack/movie food), tostadas Huevos rancheros (basically a tostada w/ an egg on top). I do a lot w/ potatoes too. I bake a bunch, we eat theem w/ chicken and ranch, I...
  11. mostly i'm a traditional turkey dinner kind of girl! i love the meat, the mashed potatoes and gravy, and the pies. my aunt made a really good fruit salad last year...it was pomegranites in lime jello. i think she added coolwhip to it as well to make it fluffier. i thought about adding some strawberries too. anyone have a good roll recipe? that was...
  12. wow this sounds so yummy! was it crispy? i love my tots crispy! and i would try w/ soy milk if you can instead of rice milk, cuz i know it acts as regular milk in baking better...and rice dream isn't safe...just fyi ah, just read you don't do soy...nevermind on that one then
  13. "I might try keeping some basic things in my room in a container. Take them to the kitchen to prepare your food wash them and take them back. That sounds labor intensive also, but maybe not as bad as cleaning a can opener every time you want to use it." YES DO THIS! Definitely! It's just me and my husband in my home, and he doesn't eat gluten-free unless...
  14. I've tried to make nuggets before, but never had anything that turned out remotely like REAL chicken nuggets...except when I made them w/ tofu, but not such a huge tofu fan. Anyone have ideas, recipes, etc?
  15. Haven't checked...that would be too bad cuz I love the pizzas! What other things do you get at your ST that are gluten-free? Are they better prices than the health food store? I got a gift card to target for my bday and was thinking of making a trip this week....
  16. Thanks all, feeling mostly better...a little UTI achy still. Now that I'm not so sick, I should say that I did have a good birthday, mostly. We went to Carrabbas and it was SO good! I get so excited when I go out to eat and DON'T get glutened! Only happened a couple of times though Question, should I eat some yogurt? My mom said that I could easily...
  17. yay! gonna go get myself a copy and send a thank you to the company!
  18. Utah's pretty good, as Betsy said. But I have to say that every time I visit my family up in Portland, I get a bit homesick...and jealous. They've got all the stuff I have to buy at health food stores in the main grocery stores! I've seen gluten free menus in many restaurants, I've even visited a gluten-free candy shop! I feel like there's so much more...
  19. my husband thinks it was the food. I doubt only because I usually have a different response to food. I thought it could be the medications, or the stress, as I have made myself ill in the past over anxiety. He's also suggested that I could be pregnant (which I highly doubt....) I want my mommy Husbands just aren't the same when it comes to...
  20. i think it should be outlawed to have a bad day on your birthday. i think it should also be outlawed to have that bad day hang around for an additional even crappier day! so here's the deal - been feeling sick most of the day (blood sugary headache...nauseated)...then just emptied my dinner in to the toilet. not feeling much better.... could it be...
  21. I don't have any info, but I'm afraid that I'm a Celiac who married an ADHD...cringe...our poor children will likely have: 1. Celiac disease 2. ADHD 3. Hypoglycemia and/or diabetes 4. Depression Wonderful! I can't wait to be a mother...lol
  22. i've had so much temptation to eat gluten...today for example, someone brought pizza to one of my classes, and i chewed the inside of my lip to a bloody pulp fighting off the smells. but i did it, and i felt very proud of myself. i have had lots of accidental glutenings, and i hate feeling so sick. so if i remind myself of those consequenses, it's easier...
  23. thanks laura, that's what i'll probably do. that way i can have lots of left overs too!! what do you all recommend for rolls? any especially good recipes? i think i was spoiled before going gluten-free....i miss good rolls!! sissy, it is hard learning new "tricks"...and it can get emotional and frustrating we all know it here. but you can do it, and...
  24. Such a pain I know! I was diagnosed in June, and I just found out last month that vanilla flavoring has gluten in it. lol!! Lame cuz I'd used it a lot in baking! That nasty gluten is hiding just about everywhere!
  25. I suppose the 's' gets added because often we refer to ourselves as "Celiacs" meaning people who have Celiac Disease Kalanfan, how did the paper turn out? I have a paper to write for my bio class, and I've been working on it, but was curious to know what sources you used, other than the people here
