  1. When I was at the gluten-free meeting last week, I tried the Blue Chip poppyseed muffins, and LOVED them! So good! They said that the company sells at Macey's down here in Provo, and I was wondering if anyone knew how often they restock? When I went there this morning they didn't have any of the Poppyseed muffin mix. I bought a bag of the chocolate chip cookie...
  2. Thanks for sharing the way you all deal with the sacrament...husband and i have been struggling with getting active in the church, and my only setback has been the sacrament. i'll have to talk with our bishop about it. Good ideas though Yeah, I'm excited to get my hands on some good bread after attending our bread tasting meeting! I tried to make some...
  3. Yeah, i think it's just a new policy, which by the way, I love! Although, their beans say they are processed in a place that manufactures wheat. I just rinse the beans very well before eating them. is that bad?
  4. A great idea! I would put together a gift basket containing some good gluten-free cookies, a bag of popcorn, some candy, pretzels, maybe some fruit leather or something. Even a "natural foods" basket would be fun, not having everything revolve around the gluten-free stuff. And a "Beginner's kit" would be killer! I wish I had had that when I left the doctor...
  5. Here's my opinion on exercise and losing weight: I don't think you should choose one over the other between biking and walking. They are both good for you, as you are up and moving your body! Fat burning aside, they are both FUN! As long as you aren't getting bored, keep it up. You use different muscles doing these exercises, so do them both! And, as many...
  6. I talked with a woman at my local celiac meeting last week, and she said Disneyland in CA was very accomodating. They printed out a list of all the restaurants in the park that had gluten free items, and even a menu of those items. It is my hope that Disneyworld would do the same, as we're planning a trip there soon. I remember they had a lot of food in the...

    ARCHIVED Arbys!

Wonderful! I as well, am really getting tired of eating Wendy's...lol! It will be nice to have another option available when I don't want to cook
  8. Hey Sooz, This whole carb thing sucks! I know how you feel, I am an emotional eater too. Good job getting of the antidepressants...I'm working my way off as well, down from three to two now, and hoping to be drug-free by the end of the year! I know everyone says that exercise is a good substitute, and you just want to roll your eyes at that, but I've found...
  9. Dang, I love that place. Wish they were more gluten-free friendly. However, if you're really craving cheesecake, Jax Peters Lowell has a KILLER recipe that I am SOOOOOOO in love with! I'll have to post it in the recipe section, or check to see if anyone else has! TOtally satisfied my sweet tooth!!!
  10. What a bummer! I have had to send back food at red robin's before, but it's my husband's fave place to eat, so I've learned to be flexible. I really like their mushroom burger, I just ask them to send it out without the bun, and they put the mushrooms in a cup on the side. It's really yummy (if you can eat the cheese on top too). I also have ordered their...
  11. OMG THis sounds like so much fun! I really like the book idea. I looked on the chickensoup.com page and they have proposal ideas. What do you all think? I would love to be a part of putting this book together. I would also be very interested in a photography book...avid photographer here! I'd do a bike riding thing too...that would be fun! Even...
  12. I know how scary that is! I read this somewhere (can't remember). Here's a few things that supposedly help flush things out (in additon to LOTS of water): bananas (yummy at least) aloe vera juice (I've never tried it before) papayas - fruits or juice (I personally LOVE the dried papaya that I get at the health food store) raw honey (don't know...
  13. OMG! This is like the story of my life the last few months! I finally had to tell my dear, sweet husband that I would not eat another salad while he ate his cheese sticks, burger and fries at Red Robin's and that if he was too embarrassed by me talking to the waiters about what I couldn't eat and how I had to have my food prepared, then we would just stop...
  14. I really think a gluten-free school would be awesome! I also have the ambition to become a master chef and have dreamed of culinary schools...but for now, the worldwideweb is my only textbook, and my husband is my only "customer." I loved this quote! I also think the idea of a cooking club or monthly get-together is fabulous! In fact, I might...
  15. Thanks for the advice. That's been my biggest struggle...making my own stuff rather than buying it premade. I have the time right now to experiment with recipes, I'll have to do some research to find the best ones, but I'm hopeful. Do you all buy your flours in bulk, and if so, from where? Thanks again!
  16. So, here it is, the end of the month, and I find myself checking my winter coat pockets and under the couch cushions, desperately searching for extra cash, because once again I have long since spent my sparse allotment of greens for groceries. Here are my thoughts which I present to the group: How do you manage your money on a gluten-free diet? ...
