  1. Sometimes peeling skin on the palms can be a sign of strep. I had a student once who had a bad strep infection and her hands started to peel. But it could be another sign of Celiac because there seems to be so many!
  2. I bought some Speas Farm Apple Pie filling in the health food section of Wegman's. It appears to be all natural with no gluten, but I am not 100% sure. Does anyone know? Thanks!
  3. People think I am crazy too when I keep finding new things my son is reacting to. But you cannot ignore full body rashes after eating something. Some think it is just dry skin due to winter. For example, if he eats peas, he will breakout within minutes. I think children with Celiac are just more sensitive to other foods. I have Celiac and I can barely...
  4. It's like a full-body type rash. More like rash patches all over. It is reddish in some areas and whiteish in others. They are raised rashes that looked inflamed at first and then as they dry out turn more skin tone. It is like he has an outbreak from something and then it starts to clear pretty quickly but his skin will remain dry and bumpy until the...
  5. I have read that Gerber Apple Wagon Wheels are gluten free, but my son seems to break out in eczema type rashes when he eats them. I went awhile without them and thought maybe his previous reactions were due to something else, but then he had one tonight and his skin broke out. I am still questioning corn so maybe that is the problem since there is corn...
  6. This is a great thread for parents! I learn so much from these posts!
  7. I agree that it would be nice to have an excellent doctor guide your progress once diagnosed with Celiac. The problem is finding a great doctor who understands the disease. And what about those who have ALL of the symptoms, but who test NEGATIVE? Do you keep feeding your children gluten if the tests are negative, but the symptoms continue? Personally...
  8. Every specialist and pediatrician we have worked with has strongly told us that a child should be kept on a gluten diet unless specifically diagnosed.
  9. As a medical doctor, isn't Dr. Fine required ethically to publish his methods/research? It would seem to me that he would lose his medical license if he was running a scam with Enterolab. Where are the checks and balances on an independent lab like his? I think we need to start a petition on this board to encourage him to publish his research and allow...
  10. This is exactly what I am curious about! If you do not have the actual Celiac genes, can you still have Celiac or gluten intolerance? I just posted a link to the glutensensitivity.net page and there is a story of a girl who has NO Celiac genes, but is a blood and biopsy proven Celiac. So what is the research saying about people who do not have Celiac genes...
  11. I am a Celiac mom also and did not know what to do about testing my son who is now 22 months. I watched him from birth and when I first started introducing gluten foods, I thought he reacted slightly. But I questioned myself a lot because I thought I was being overly cautious. He had occasional rashes, loose stools and diaper rash. He also seemed tired...
  12. Chronic Constipation and Fatigue were my main symptoms for years before I was diagnosed with Celiac. I still have trouble with Constipation sometimes, but nothing like before I went on a gluten free diet. Most people (especially doctors) think that you have to have chronic Diarrhea to have Celiac, but it can be constipation instead!
  13. Does everyone have the 2 gluten sensitivity genes if they do not have a Celiac gene? It just seems that way on this board through Enterolab.
  14. This is a FANTASTIC example of how there definitely needs to be more research done to determine the relationship between certain genes and Celiac Disease: Open Original Shared Link
  15. Does anyone know of anyone who makes a gluten free fruitcake? Mom mom loves it and recently went gluten free and I am trying to find one for the holidays. I know I could probably make one, but I am not the best cook:). I saw that Harry & David has what looks like a flour-free one, but I need to contact the company. Any other suggestions would be greatly...
  16. The more I research online and read through this board, the more it seems like Celiac and gluten intolerance can affect entire families. In my case, my mom and dad, brother, me and my son all have it. My brother and I got positive blood tests, but my parents and son got positives from Enterolab. My husband doesn't have any symptoms. Most of all though...
  17. Why won't your doctors run the Celiac tests? That just amazes me when doctors just refuse to investigate further. Doctors can be so frustrating sometimes! I have Celiac and a fast heartrate and thousands of PVC's everyday. I still think there is a correlation between heartrate/blood pressure/pvcs and fatigue. I too wore the heart monitor and no one really...
  18. VANICREAM works really well. You can order online at dermadoctor.com
  19. Please help! What about pots and pans too?
  20. I have read various things about whether gluten can get permanently get stuck in scratches of dishes and other surfaces. I cannot find any clear research whether this is actually proven. We have a gluten free kitchen now because I have had Celiac for 3 years and my 20 month old son was just diagnosed. My husband doesn't have Celiac, but pretty much like...
  21. I had low iron levels before being diagnosed with Celiac. Sometimes they were in the anemia range and sometimes not, but even if they were just on the low end of normal I felt horrible! I took the SlowFE iron brand. I still take iron in a multivitamin and when I don't feel that great, I take the extra iron in the form of SlowFE. Low iron levels can definitely...
  22. This OMG thread is great! You guys have so much info! Laura, I felt like I was reading about my symptoms and my experiences with doctors when I read your thread. I will be very interested in hearing about your testing, especially the EE. I had never heard about EE before, but it definitely sounds like a promising diagnosis. I just felt so badly for you...
  23. Rachel, how did you get your Lyme diagnosis? Your symptoms sound the same as mine. I was treated 2years ago with 6 months of iv antibiotics. I stopped treatment due to a severe allergic reaction when they switched my meds to Clindamycin. I thought I felt a little better so I went ahead and got pregnant with my first child. I felt great during my pregnancy...
  24. I am definitely interested in learning more about Lyme treatment. I was diagnosed with Celiac and then with Lyme. I spent 6 months on iv antibiotics, but I still do not feel that great. I have tons of food intolerances and I cannot figure out if most of my problems are due to Celiac or to Lyme. What other treatments are available besides antibiotics?...
  25. I wonder why there isn't a certain medicine or even alternative medicine to heal a leaky gut. How do you heal your gut when you cannot eat anything? I am confused because they say to eliminate foods that bother you, but for me that is almost everything. Then if you eat the same foods over and over, you can become intolerant to those too! What do you do...
