ARCHIVED The Most Delicious Home-made Gluten Free Bread I've Ever Tasted...
hineini replied to mamatide's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
Do you all think it's possible to make this without a mixer? I don't have a stand mixer (yet) and my electric hand mixer probably won't hold up to dough. Can I just use a wooden spoon and then knead it by hand? -
Hi all, I am looking for a bread recipe that meets the following requirements: - Gluten-free (obviously) - No cane sugar, preferably no sweeteners at all but I'd be okay with a little agave nectar or something - Preferably mostly whole grain - Can be made without a bread machine Does anyone have a recipe that meets these requirements? That is sad, Cougar. But there is apparently a baker in Highland that makes gluten-free goodies on Wednesdays (not sure what they do to protect from cross-contamination though) and there is an alternative baker in Kingston that makes gluten-free stuff...

ARCHIVED Parsnip And Carrot Latkes (pancakes)
hineini replied to hineini's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
Covsooze - It's actually not that much egg given the amount of total batter. The pancakes aren't very eggy tasting and don't have an eggy consistency because Oonce grated, 1 lb of parsnips plus 1 plus pound of carrots and one very large onion makes a huge amount of batter. You could reduce it by one egg, but I wouldn't use less than 2 eggs. It's hard enough... -
There is a yahoo group called vegetariangf of Yahoo groups that is about vegetarianism and gluten-free living. You may find this helpful. I eat about 90% vegetarian. I eat meat or fish about twice a week (trying to find ways to eat more fish, though). I get plenty of nutrients. It's harder to do so when gluten-free, but certainly not impossible at all...

ARCHIVED Favorite Flour Mixes For Cookies?

I have done a lot of gluten-free baking, but have mostly stuck to muffins and cakes. I am wondering if the general mixes I use for muffins and cakes will also work for cookies. ARCHIVED How Did Your Thanksgiving Go?
hineini replied to lpellegr's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
My parents are the best - They accomodated both my being kosher and my being gluten-free (the second more strictly than the first). They took the time to go and find gluten-free bread and cake mix at the store before I flew in. It seems like they really "get it". I'm so blessed. I ate: -Roasted kosher turkey with Earth Balance margarine and herbs stuffed...
