Dear Susanna, Wahoo! I want to start doing the Zone again. I had more energy and mental clarity on it! I have been having difficulty finding more affordable portable food. These are good, too! I had the Chocolate Coconut Crunch before, and loved it! It was delicious! That diet is also easy to do when you have to be gluten-free and casein...

Dear Julie-uk-nz, Thanks for the link! Dear Nancym, Hey, I read about that too! Heart disease did not exist, nor did obesity until people began cultivating grain! I read about it in "ZonePerfect Meals in Minutes" by Dr. Barry Sears. I found that fascinating! Thanks for the info! That just proves Celiacs have been around...

ARCHIVED To All The "lurkers" Out There...
NoGluGirl replied to Lisa's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Dear zkat, Yes, we all have had our crosses to bear! Doctors have nearly killed most of us. If it had not been for switching to a holistic physician last year, I still would be eating gluten! I was doped on every drug known to man. They just tell you it is anxiety or depression. Eventually, you come out of the medicated fog and realize that... -

Dear Ryan, I know exactly what you mean. People would ask about what is wrong, then they say it is gross and they do not want to hear it! I told them, if you do not want to know, do not ask! People have a lot of nerve. Doctors especially have this issue. They do not listen. I would get some Preparation H cream for Alex. If it is the... -
ARCHIVED Need Advice About Going Back To Work As A Teacher...
NoGluGirl replied to Walter S's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Dear Walter, We totally get it! As Nancy said, you should feel free to ask questions. You may be feeling dizzy due to being anemic. Have you been tested? Many Celiacs are anemic. Since you have Crohn's and have had an ulcer, chances are you are. All they need to do is a blood test. Don't feel bad about the memory issue! I think many... -

Dear AquaQ, Melissa, and all Other Lurkers, Welcome to the gluten free forum! We are so happy you joined! The more the merrier is the vibe here! It is always great to meet new people. Feel free to ask for a beginner's list! I have been gluten free since August of 2006. I just now had to go completely dairy free.... -

Dear Walter, I truly feel we are kindred spirits. I cannot work due to my illness. I too, may have Lyme on top of Celiac. That does not include the possibility of Bacterial Dysbiosis, Babesia (a Lyme co-infection), Leaky-Gut, and a number of other things that are likely. I also have that stupid yeast overgrowth. Being on tons of antibiotics... -
Dear Susanna, The Zone Bars in those flavors are safe? They have dairy though, don't they? Those things would really be great to have for when I go out. My blood sugar gets low. That diet is great for helping with balancing it. Dear Marisa, In all truth, there seems to be more junk food we are allowed than healthy...

ARCHIVED 10 Things I Hate About Celiac
NoGluGirl replied to Mtndog's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
The worst thing for me is that this illness has stolen my life. There are so many things this illness has brought on. Thyroid trouble...making it impossible to lose one lousy pound at times. Having everyday living in fear of becoming violently ill from the simplest food. Worrying about affording food I can have is another major issue. I am stuck here... -

Dear Lisa, I get that as well! I was diagnosed with eczema, though. That may be what you have instead of rosacea. Yeast overgrowth can cause it. My hands always have it, too. It is so painful sometimes. Hot and cold have an effect on it. Hot water especially makes it worse. I cannot stand even room temperature water on my hands when washing... -
ARCHIVED Cooking Question
NoGluGirl replied to ppatin's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
Dear gfp, My family and friends are like that as well. They still do not get it! They do not realize how important being so careful is. It may make me look paranoid, but it is better than being sick. Unless people actually deal with this illness, they have no idea what it is like. They have never gotten sick from coke because someone contaminated... -
ARCHIVED 10 Things I Hate About Celiac
NoGluGirl replied to Mtndog's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Dear gfp, I feel the same way. It is funny, because whenever I go for blood work, they are like "Do needles bother you?" and I say "Honey, I have had a camera down my throat, up my butt, and all kinds of other stuff, so this does not bother me too much." They are like "Wow, you have been through a lot!" I learned how to not worry about unimportant... -

Dear Donna, Wow! That is so neat! That testing really sounds cool! Now, that is BioSET? Or is it NAET that Charlie mentioned? This is great info! Dear Mia, We are glad to hear a payment plan could be made out possibly. Chances are, if your father was accepted, you will be too! The chiropractic adjustments seem really helpful... -

Dear Sami, Thank you for the compliments! I had an instructor in college once tell me I was an encyclopedia! I am an info freak! I am a candy person and a snack food person myself, so I was thrilled to learn some of what we could have! I am going to have to start getting my chocolate from the Chocolate Emporium, because dairy does not set... -
ARCHIVED Cooking Question
NoGluGirl replied to ppatin's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
Dear ppatin, It is wonderful you are taking the initiative and being courteous toward the woman you are dating. A speck of gluten makes me violently ill. Even if people do not get gastrointestinal symptoms, it can be damaging to their body. Eventually, the end up with diabetes, a destroyed digestive tract, thyroid trouble, possibly even... -
Dear RiceGuy, We used to make the fruit juice pops too! My mother would get the grape juice. Then we would pour it in the molds. We popped them in the freezer, and later they were a great frozen treat! I think ours broke we used them so much! Sincerely, NoGluGirl

Dear Carla and Geoff, I bet you are right! Jerry's relatives are probably all out there! They are in denial. Maybe one day they will get on here and say hello! If they can stay off of the crapper long enough from eating gluten! Sincerely, NoGluGirl -
Dear ginap73, My parents are like that. They just think I am paranoid. It is so annoying! It is not them who gets violently ill when they get a microscopic amount of the crap in their system. Their opinion does not count for that reason! Sincerely, NoGluGirl

Dear Marisa, You are very welcome! This is such a frustrating circumstance. Easing it for anyone when you can should be done. I cannot have milk either. I had some chocolate yesturday with it, and now I am paying for it! No more of that! It will just have to come from the Chocolate Emporium from now on! I am glad the list was helpful...

ARCHIVED 10 Things I Hate About Celiac
NoGluGirl replied to Mtndog's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Dear Generic, It really is frustrating having idiot relatives! They make up all of these rediculous reasons why the could not possibly be Celiac. Or how about when people gluten you and then lie about it when you know they did it! That is enough to make anyone irate! One thing is for sure, one day, people will have to deal with the consequences... -

Dear Carla, Thanks for the mouth guard info! I am going to get me one! I chew gum or put it between my teeth just to help relieve a bit of the pain and stop my teeth from rubbing each other! My jaw clenches constantly. I do not think it ever relaxes or feels right. I get headaches practically everyday. Dear Donna, ... -
ARCHIVED Need Advice About Going Back To Work As A Teacher...
NoGluGirl replied to Walter S's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Dear Walter, I really think that this is an illegal situation. Employers are not allowed to have so few restrooms to accomodate teachers. It is the same with students. I think cdfiance gave you some good advice. Approaching your union would be a good course of action. They are dirty too, which is unsanitary. This leaves all of the faculty... -
ARCHIVED Omg...i Might Be On To Something
NoGluGirl replied to Rachel--24's topic in Food Intolerance & Leaky Gut
Dear Carla, I could go for any form of help! The pressure on the jaw is really bad! You know what is strange? The dentist I am with now does not order a mouth splint. That is really odd. The dentist I saw before her was ready to order one immediately. I had to stop going to him, though, because my grandfather thought he was too expensive...
