ARCHIVED Omg...i Might Be On To Something
NoGluGirl replied to Rachel--24's topic in Food Intolerance & Leaky Gut
Dear tabasco32, The runny nose reaction is typical with candida. All of the foods you listed have more than fat in common. Seeds, nuts, and spices all tend to harbor mold. Dried spices succumb to it often. Fresh ones can probably be used. Just be sure to freeze them until they are needed. Keep in mind fresh spices must be used in larger... -
ARCHIVED Looking For Low Fat gluten-free Butter Or Margarine
NoGluGirl replied to ebrbetty's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Dear RiceGuy, You can use Smart Balance Light for baking. It turns out very well. I was surprised. The reason I must go so low on the fat is due to having my gallbladder removed. I get as sick as if I ingest gluten when I consume too much fat. So, Smart Balance is great. Plus, they are transfat free, which is heart healthy. The light... -
Dear JerryK, That is not too surprising, actually. Anxiety disorders are even linked to gluten. It may be some of my mother's trouble. This affects you on so many levels, and the changes the diet brings are often surprising. You never realize how psychologically and physically tortured you can be by food sensitivities or Celiac. Way to...

NoGluGirl replied to nothungry's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Dear Kassie, Thanks for warning us about the little Reese's eggs. We could have gotten sick had we eaten them. Of course, we should always read labels! Dear GeoffCJ, I was ecstatic when I learned about these as well! They are so good! Sincerely, NoGluGirl -
Does anyone know if any of these companies mentioned has yeast-free gluten free breads? I cannot have yeast either. I know there are some gluten free, yeast free cinnamon buns that are also low fat. I need to go back and check them out. It was either at the gluten free mall or the Gluten Free Market. I am pretty sure it was the last one. ...

ARCHIVED Looking For Low Fat gluten-free Butter Or Margarine
NoGluGirl replied to ebrbetty's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Dear ebrbetty, I use Smart Balance. It has 9 grams of fat per Tablespoon, but there is a Light version. It is labeled gluten free, too! The Smart Balance Light only has 5 grams of fat per Tablespoon. I hope that helped! Sincerely, NoGluGirl -
Dear JerryK, Congratulations! We are so proud of you! Stay away from the gluten cookies, though. They hurt you. I love cookies, too. They are the only sweet besides chocolate I have difficulty resisting. I would be more than happy to give you a recipe that your wife could make them for you. My specialty is cookies. Chocolate Chip...

ARCHIVED And I Was Doing So Well....
NoGluGirl replied to snowcoveredheart's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Dear snowcoveredheart, At least your mother seems to understand. My mother just has assumed I am crazy from day one. No one knows how much that hurts. My dad has been more understanding than she has. However, they both are very careless, and have gotten me sick. They get lazy, and do not want to inconvenience themselves. I... -
ARCHIVED And I Was Doing So Well....
NoGluGirl replied to snowcoveredheart's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Dear snowcoveredheart, OMG! We must live in the exact same family! This is how everyone I live with is! I am tired of them trying to make me sound selfish because I have special dietary needs. They are the selfish ones, not us. It is so annoying! Everyone treats you like you are a brat. People always say "You don... -

NoGluGirl replied to jerseygrl's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Dear jerseygrl, I only give accurate info! I provide this info as if it were my own body going to consume it! This is essential for safety! I trust information only from certain sources, like this forum and Gluten-Free In SD. The Clan Thompson list is somewhat outdated in some things. I cannot afford to buy the other lists they have... -

ARCHIVED Getting Life Insurance With A Diagnosis Of Celiac
NoGluGirl replied to shelby1's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Dear Guhlia, Thanks for the tip. I will keep American Medical in mind. So many of these plans have such high premiums, no one can afford them. Even people with high paying jobs barely can afford them. It really is rediculous. This whole scenario is insane! Dear Violet, I do not trust insurance companies... -
Dear georgie, Dairy intolerance can make you feel as bad as if you were glutened! My doctor told me about that. She said casein is bad about that. Reactions can be delayed. They can take up to 3 days after ingestion for symptoms to appear! I tend to have a delayed gluten reaction. It can take me up to 12 hours to react to it. ...

ARCHIVED And I Was Doing So Well....
NoGluGirl replied to snowcoveredheart's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Dear snowcoveredheart, I am in a similar situation. I am stuck living at home with parents who refuse to go gluten free. It is not them who gets violently ill when they ingest a microscopic particle of gluten, so why would they care? I am tired of getting sick from cross contamination. Who cares if this is a deadly disease... -
Dear Monica, I am in the same situation. I am 24, and have no health benefits, am a full time college student, and cannot work due to my illness. The thyroid issue I know all about! It makes you feel strange. It can do all kinds of stuff to you. I agree with Ursa Major and CarlaB. The Lyme Disease is a possibility. IgeniX...

ARCHIVED First Time Emergency Out Of Town Situation
NoGluGirl replied to jerseygrl's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Dear jerseygrl, Though I have no children of my own, I have done a lot of babysitting. When I was a teenager, I used to have one girl I took care of who would never eat anything but junk. She lived off of Doritos. It was scary! They either let her have MacDonald's or whatever they could get her to eat. Potatoes had to be in french... -

Dear Hoolie, I have Candida as well. I did not know there were enzymes to help treat it! Could you give me the name of those? I would appreciate it. This is only one issue on top of Celiac I have to deal with. Alleviating any of them would greatly help! Sincerely, ... -
ARCHIVED Getting Life Insurance With A Diagnosis Of Celiac
NoGluGirl replied to shelby1's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Dear Guhlia, I called about health insurance some months ago. They told me I would have to pay extra because of reflux. That makes me so angry. These companies screw everyone! I hear BlueCross Blue Shield and Anthem deny practically every claim, no matter how legitimate. Even worse is the fact that in the U.S. just because the general... -
Dear JerryK, Your brother sounds exactly like my parents and brother! My brother and mom especially are candidates for Celiac. I already explained to them it is genetic, and they probably have it as well. My father was an infant that failed to thrive, had starvation diarrhea and they almost lost him. If the nurse had not told my grandmother...

ARCHIVED So Jerry Is Very Frustrated....
NoGluGirl replied to JerryK's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Dear Abug, You are so welcome! Deprivation is not a part of my vocabulary! I could live off of Chinese food! Most people think I am Asian, but we are supposed to only be Irish, English and Scottish. I think somebody slept with somebody. White folks don't look like this! It would be fun to get DNA testing to see. Sincerely... -

Dear CarlaB, Well, I looked up purple glittery bats! They sound so cute! Also, I do not think they would have toxic poo. Not in Rachelville! They poop glittery pink balls that smell like berries! Dear Clark Bent as Stupor-Man, Here on the OMG thread, there is no such thing as ignorance, just curiosity... -
ARCHIVED So Jerry Is Very Frustrated....
NoGluGirl replied to JerryK's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Dear DarlinDeb, Yep, I have had dreams like that too! I have food lust issues, but am paranoid careful about gluten! Even so, due to living with 2 non-gluten free individuals, cc is a big problem which I pay dearly for. I also have to watch my fat intake, which has been difficult on the gluten free diet, as some of the gluten free breads...
