  1. Brilliant post!
  2. Again, here is just a small example of why your posts are so loaded with error and misinformation. If you want to believe you are well informed, have fun with that. We had other people on this board in the past who seemed to think they were always right and did nothing but spread erroneous info, make wild claims about being glutened from garden produce and...
  3. C'mon Barty........that makes too much sense. There are just some people who love making thier lives harder than they need to.
  4. There is so much misinformation in this post, I felt the need to answer. I am also very sensitive to gluten and as a diagnosed Celiac, do not need to live in a bubble to live well and healthy. I am beginning to think there needs to be an information thread about cross contamination, because there are many people who clearly do not understand the basics...
  5. Have her symptoms subsided with the gluten-free diet? If so, then she probably isn't getting gluten in her diet....unless she was asymptomatic to begin with. When rechecking antibodies after starting the gluten-free diet, docs need to do both the DGP and tTg. The tTg only checks for tissue damage and not dietary compliance. This is a huge mistake they...
  6. I have learned that if you shop around, there are affordable tests to be had. The labs that charge exhorbitant amounts will be used less often so it doesn't benefit them to price gouge. There was also a piece on a news program that basically told people without insurance to negotiate a price because with the way insurance is going in this country, they...
  7. The only test that could be affected by other AI diseases are the tTg tests. The AGA IgA/IgG or the newer version, the DGP, are for reaction to gluten that you consume. The tTg tests for tissue damage and that can be triggered by Celiac, Hashi's, autoimmune liver disease, etc.) If you had any of those AI diseases, without Celiac, only the tTg would be...
  8. Bartie..........I don't understand. Why can't you go through the state medicaid system and get some insurance? I mean really? We have a load of people who should not be here and they get free everything and my fellow American doesn't have access to insurance? I am not trying to make any political statement here either, folks......just stating the truth...
  9. HollyGolightly2.....love your screen name! It is extremely common for newly diagnosed Celiac's to have fragile bones and as your niece seems to have a more severe case of Celiac ( as do I) it is not surprising that she has fractrured some bones. She probably has not been absorbing calcium much in her 4 short years on the planet. Test for deficiencies...

    ARCHIVED Guilt

Well...there you have it, redhead! This advice comes from the smartest 14 year old in the history of the world so listen to Miss Eloise...she knows only too well how things really work in life.
  11. I should be the one to say STOP now. I can't even eat gelato or ice cream because more than a few mouthfuls and I suffer the consequences. God Bless the people who thought of putting salt and caramel AND coffee and chocolate chips together! I'll have to make them in cookie form........ Ha, Ha!
  12. I think if you want to know what is in a particular product, all you have to do is read the label. By removing a gluten free label from a product, that in no way means it is not safe. There are many people who want things made really easy for them so they won't have to read labels. That is not something we should be doing. Like Lisa, I am also gluten...
  13. It is always recommended that you wash produce well because of bacteria or other nasties that can find their way onto them at any point. Everyone, including non-Celiac's should do this. I do not worry about produce because of the wash I give it beforehand. This is not paranoia but common sense. Foods that are naturally gluten free like fruits and veggies...
  14. My very best wishes to you that this is not cancer and it's something else that can be easily treated. You are tough and I love that! Please keep us informed.... we'll be your Ninja team!
  15. manasota......I thought this article might be interesting to see. There may be some added benefit for some women in taking a biophosphonate. Open Original Shared Link
  16. It could be that the Ensure is just a drink and not as hard to process and absorb as solid food is. It is really pushed on elderly folks, whose digestive systems are often impaired due to advanced age so it would make sense that you would gain some weight from drinking that many extra calories. I would not take any more supplements because there is no...
  17. If a person has long undiagnosed Celiac, then maybe, just maybe, the problem could be caused by weak muscles. But the bladder is a muscle and will respond to exercise well. I have been doing core and strength training for 5 years now. Was diagnosed Celiac 10 years ago. I am now 56 years old and that type of issue generally starts to happen to women...
  18. With a tTg of 47 and these results from the biopsy, I don't understand what the doctor meant by the exam not supporting a full Celiac diagnosis, other than to guess that they need to wait until your daughter gets good and sick with much more muscosal damage before they will bless her with a Celiac diagnosis. She is 4 years old and this is probably the kind...
  19. manasota....you will never find any frozen berries that are labeled "certified gluten-free" because berries are inherently gluten free so no need to label them as such. I am a very sensitive Celiac and have never had any hint of trouble from any frozen berry. You do not have to see a certified stamp on some products for them to be safe.....trust me. There...
  20. Bartie....I eat SunMaid Golden Raisins with absolutely no problems and you all know how sensitive I am to gluten. Made in a shared facility does not equal unsafe, as we know. SunMaid is a reputable company that has been around for ages so eat them with pleasure! Let us know how that goes, in case I ever start having arthritis symptoms.
  21. I think it is all about supply and demand. I would guess that maybe there are fewer people diagnosed in the South as this is a common complaint from those on the forum who live there. They tend to think they are one of a few Celiac's in their area. I do think that Whole Foods will special order something for you from the gluten-free Bakery. Maybe talk...
  22. If you had a Celiac panel that was positive and a biopsy that shows damaged villi, that is Celiac Disease. What might be happening here is that many unenlightened doctors will not diagnose it as Celiac unless it is at least Marsh II damage or higher. You may be at Marsh I, which just means you caught it earlier, before the really bad damage happened. There...
  23. HA, HA, HA!!!!!!!!! You know, I thought of that Laura and if someone does not have access to a Whole Foods, maybe I can have one shipped to you. The problem is that they are really good so, can you spell a-d-d-i-c-t-i-o-n???????????
