I make a lot of our gluten free cookies (but growing up if we had cookies it was because I made them with my mom or grandma) As far as gluten free snack food goes I try and keep that simple (DD is only 1 but you know that) so here is our snack food list and I can get this ALL at a regular grocery store: Raisins Craisins Lots of fresh fruits...

(A protein found in our small intestine...
  3. I still think that this "Vanilla Extract" has gluten in it stems from the "Madagascar Bourbon" name... I think a few people read the Bourbon and thought it was the alcohol that was being used and not the place it came from.
  4. I asked our local store if they could at least place the gluten free stuff on the top shelf that way the gluten free would spill onto the gluten and not the other way around. (I talked with the manager and she changed it that week!)
  5. I'm originally from Tempe Arizona (home of Cold stone) I know how wonderful they are!!! I guess I was spoiled there hu? This is just a local place (actually just opened this summer) I made a few phone calls today and found that my FAVORITE local place Amy's has an allergy policy posted stating that people with allergies and intolerances SHOULD request...
  6. Our costo carries the Enviro Kids cereal (the outside box does not say gluten free but all the boxes inside do... they were nice and let me open it up to double check!) Their Canned Chicken is Gluten free and our store has a big box of Lara bars (I love these!) hope this helps!
  7. My mom's doctor just passed along an article that said that women who are going through menopause or who are in the early stages of menopause (30+ years old) find it harder to loose weight (okay we all know this to be true) but in the article it mentioned that severely cutting gluten out of your diet can drastically increase your chances of loosing the weight...
  8. A friend of mine is having a birthday party at our local ice cream place. So I called to find out which flavors were made first and would be free of gluten. Just as I figured only 2 of them are sweet cream and vanilla. So I pressed a bit further to find out how they clean their scoops and marble slabs. They don't clean the scoops they just rinse...
  9. Here is how I have started explaining what Celiac Disease is to people: (Summed up from Gluten free Living for Dummies) When anyone (even people without Celiac disease) eats gluten containing products it causes our bodies to produce an excess amount of zonulin. (A protein found in our small intestine that basically works as a doorman allowing the nutrients...
  10. I wish that were the problem... I've never used fabri softener on her clothes! I'm glad to hear it actually went away! That gives me hope
  11. I grew up only eating whole wheat bread... I didn't know about white bread till I was in school and thought the other kids bread looked funny! Anyhow now that our house is gluten free... I find myself craving wheat bread. All the recipies I have found make a good white bread but it just isn't the same. Anyone have a good recipe for me? Kibbie
  12. I can tell you that my daughter's Celiac Symptoms resembled reflux so much so that we had an upper GI scheduled for her until we got her blood test results back. Her GI doctor ran the celiac test because I mentioned on the family history questionare that my grandma had Lupus and another grandmother was diagnosed with Irritable Bowel syndrome. We were...
  13. My daughter has KP (a skin condition that causes bumpy things on her arms and legs) Basically it looks much like goose bumps but they are there all the time. A lot of people have it and its nothing that needs to be treated so we normally just leave it alone. Lately she's been picking at the bumps and I don't want her to scar. The only thing I have found...

  17. I just wanted to add... if you bread still tastes fine but it ROCK hard don't toss it out! Stick it in a food processor and pulverize it! I have made several rock breads and turned them into GREAT gluten-free bread crumbs breading chicken, meatloaf, and meatballs Then I don't feel so bad about all that $$ going ini the trash
  18. My daughter's only Celiac symptom was vomiting... I kept telling people that "if I didn't know better I'd say she had reflux... My daughter was also very pale, had purple circles under her eyes and eventually was gassy and showed signs of tummy aches (this way about a month after the vomiting showed up while we were still having testing done) She threw...
  19. I think people freaked out about vanilla because of the "Bourbon" in the name.... not realizing that it was the name of a place and not that of the drink!
