ARCHIVED Alternating Diarrhea & Constipation Since Gluten Free
gfpaperdoll replied to Walter S's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I would cut out all dairy - & do not add in soy because it could also become a problem. The top problems after gluten are dairy, soy, eggs & the nightshade family tomatoes, potatoes, peppers, egg plant... Some people have problems with legumes they are a high lectin food. I have cut them out of my diet, now that I am eating more Paleo. remember... -
ARCHIVED Where Do I Start?
gfpaperdoll replied to Jenybeen's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
Your doctor is an idiot. all those problems with the gastritis etc. is just celiac - you have a diagnosis the idiot doctor just has no clue what he is looking at... yes backaches & headaches are common gluten problems. your child WILL eat if you take away the gluten - the stuff is lethal. your child is addicted to gluten and is not eating anything... -

gfpaperdoll replied to Sheesh-'s topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms

ARCHIVED Enterolab Testing - I Need References To Show Dh!
gfpaperdoll replied to mommyagain's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I would guess that you have at least one DQ1 gene - that comes with the neurological problems, including addictions - to spending, alcohol, food - what ever your favorite addiction is...ADD, ADHD, dyslexia, depression, OCD... When you get your gluten problem under control that should get better & if you by chance have that gene, another huge thing is... -

ARCHIVED Enterolab Testing - I Need References To Show Dh!
gfpaperdoll replied to mommyagain's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
sorry, I think your husband should support you in your decision. I do not think that you should have to gather evidence to validate something that you want to do. Does he golf or fish or hunt? do you spend an equal amount of money on your hobbies as he does? If not I think that it is time that you have your own discretionary spending money. If that is... -
ARCHIVED My 9 Month Old
gfpaperdoll replied to amandadn's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Just test thru Enterolab.com & get the gene test - because they test for all the gluten problem genes not just DQ2 & DQ8 & a lot of kids do not outgrow those allergies or food problems - they just keep getting worse, at least mine did. & if it is a gluten problem that will never go away... -
ARCHIVED Could Use Some Advice
gfpaperdoll replied to kimber's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
The circles under the eyes are from the gluten. get the kid off gluten immediately, before you get some real problems. I would make a list of allowed foods & go from there. I am not up on candida but I think you should read about that - maybe someone else on here will post about that... or you could do a search. -
ARCHIVED Please Help Me...new To Celiac
gfpaperdoll replied to Melmelsmom's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
There is a huge learning curve. You will need to read a lot of posts on this board. You will need to read a couple of books, like Gluten Free for Dummies, Dangerous Grains & Kids with Celiac Disease by Danna Korn. You will need to clean out your kitchen & decide if you are going to have a gluten free house. At the very least you cannot cook... -
ARCHIVED Gluten Free/casein Free Mentioned On Oprah Today
gfpaperdoll replied to SofiEmiMom's topic in Publications & Publicity
Wow, Gluten Free & Dairy Free made the Oprah show today in the discussion with two Hollywood moms re their oys that have autism. Not many details but they were very enthusiastic on how much it has helped their children. they also mentioned how the pediatriations are clueless and actually insulting to moms. Guess we already knew that. did anyone... -
ARCHIVED Help Me Interpret My Enterolab Results?
gfpaperdoll replied to Sheesh-'s topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
& then again there are some doctors and a lot of people that use Enterolab & like them very much. You have two gluten intolerant genes. Which means that it comes with all the celiac problems in addition to possible neurological problems and other food problems. You are probably not going to be able to eat dairy - ever - is my experience with... -
ARCHIVED Where Do I Start?
gfpaperdoll replied to Jenybeen's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
Crohn's is nothing more than a compliation of celiac that will clear up on the gluten free diet. A lady that I know thought she had Crohn's & then went gluten-free & the Crohn's is gone. She is a vetinarian & was already in the gluten-free cake business because she worked with a vet that had celiac disease & made gluten-free cakes for the... -
ARCHIVED Could She Have Been Glutened?
gfpaperdoll replied to Nikki'smom's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
Always, ask for the manager at those places - they are the only ones that care to do it right. & they are the only ones that have been trained. The workers are going to nod & agree with you no matter what you say, even when they do not understand a word of it... -
ARCHIVED Refractory Sprue?
gfpaperdoll replied to michiamojersey's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Yes, you really need to see a good Gastro doc, not the run of the mill too busy military doc. In the meantime, I would stop eating ALL grains, and dairy and no sodas & no soy or artificial sugar. Just cooked meats, cooked veggies, applesauce - whatever your system can handle in the whole food category of meats, seafood, veggies, fruits, nuts - try... -
ARCHIVED 6 Months Old
gfpaperdoll replied to GAVINSMOMMY's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
I would only use the rice cereal - the dry stuff mixed with formula or breast milk. maybe applesauce also. I would start out only feeding it for breakfast, or lunch. I know cereal at night is supposed to make babies sleep longer/better - but that is not working for your child. when you feed a questionable food at night, the child or adult gets a worse... -
ARCHIVED Newbie Gluten Questions...should We Do The Tests?
gfpaperdoll replied to QTpieglutenbaby's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
I would not feed your child oats, gluten-free or otherwise. actually the less grains the better... If you do not test thru Enterolab.com for the gene test, other places only test for DQ2 & DQ8. Enterolab tests for those in addition to DQ3, DQ1 & I think a couple of others... Enterolab gene test is $169.00, easy, no doctors orders required, they... -
ARCHIVED Where Do I Start?
gfpaperdoll replied to Jenybeen's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
I would advise against giving your child oats even the "safe" ones. Some people are addicted to gluten & other foods make their tummy hurt but not gluten. For some strange reason this does happen to some. You have gotten some excellent advice, I will give you a couple of things to think about - cannot say that it will work in your situation. Enlist... -

ARCHIVED Test Results For My Daughter And Me, Please Help!
gfpaperdoll replied to a topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
no it is not a given - I have a granddaughter that is 9 that I know has a gluten problem & has now lost all the enamel on her teeth - but hey, Enterolab, whom I love, diagnosed her with no gluten problems or dairy problems what so ever. She is just double DQ1 like the rest of us old ones in the family that have a load of health problems too numerous... -
ARCHIVED Diet Is Too Easy - Am I Doing Something Wrong?
gfpaperdoll replied to mattj's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Only in the USA is maltodextrin safe in foods that are MADE in the USA. For medicines in the USA you have to check the source of the maltodextrin. I have not been to Europe since I have been gluten-free, but it is my understanding that there is a high percentage of gluten allowed in a food that is stated to be "safe for celiacs" my advice would be... -

ARCHIVED Not Convinced I Have It
gfpaperdoll replied to smousie's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Smousie, new blood work could also tell if you have really been successful on the gluten-free diet. Some think they are gluten-free but really are not. Also, if the diet makes you unhappy then that in itself is a risk factor. I do not advise this for very many people but if you really are unhappy gluten-free then just eat gluten & be happy. The gluten...
