ARCHIVED Big Bowling Ball Stomach
gfpaperdoll replied to asams's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I am not sure what you are asking here or if you just want an opinion. so I will just give you my opinion. I think that you are getting intestinal damage at the least. I would advise a complete work up with your doctor to check for evertyhing from a blockage to cancer. I do not usually advise an endoscopy as I think it is an invasive procedure, but... -

I am 60, when I was 25 I tested allergic to barley & oats. For me barley is a killer & I still remember the last bagel I had about 15 years ago (they all have barley in them) I was sick for three weeks & the barley taste was in my mouth for at least at week. This was still when I was eating wheat on occasion right before I figured out that I... -
YES, I would never have believed it but I recently had to quit eating rice - & like you I was eating brown rice. I gave up corn & rice & feel tons better - I upped my meat consumption & read the book "The Paleo Diet" & now I mostly eat Paleo. Rice that is on the market now is also genectically altered, & it seems to me that more...

Hi & I am happy to welcome another person my age. You might think that your health issues are because that you are getting older but they most probably are not. I have been gluten-free for 3+ years now & have never felt better. For testing look up the 5 blood tests & print them out to take to your doctor, if you want to go that route,...

ARCHIVED Entrolab Test
gfpaperdoll replied to Linda56's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Linda your ear problems could be from dairy. If you are eating any manufactured foods there is your problem. You need to be on only plain meats, seafood, veggies, fruit, nuts & seeds & some eggs, maybe rice since you say you do not have a problem with it, nothing else. No gluten-free bread, no gluten-free processed anything. No sodas with artificial... -
ARCHIVED Enterolab Positive - Blood Work Negative!
gfpaperdoll replied to mykidsmommy's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
My top five would be: 1. clean out the kitchen - if an only child are you going to have a gluten-free house - the best IMO 2. Buy lunch boxes, thermos, small containers, pyrex glass bowls with plastic lids (Target/Walmart) to freeze meals in so they can then be plopped in the microwave, have many extras of small tupperware containers to pack & go, get... -
ARCHIVED Yay Blood Test Tomorrow!
gfpaperdoll replied to sickchick's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I think MommaGoose is the anti Enterolab police of this forum - heaven forbid that anyone that does not have an actual positive biopsy think they might have celiac. We must just be a bunch of Enterolab diagnosed hypochondriacs. well maybe except for my one friend that is double DQ1 & positive biopsy & then positive thru Enterolab for gluten and... -
ARCHIVED Enterolab Results
gfpaperdoll replied to lilypad23's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Gluten intolerance can & does result in as many or more symptoms as celiac - just ask us that have the DQ1 genes... & we do get villi atrophy despite what the doctors seem to think. we also get a lot of neurological problems and other food intolerances. Most of my family is double DQ1 - & they have the IBS, rheumatoid arthritis, diabetes... -
ARCHIVED Skinny 2 Year Old
gfpaperdoll replied to ItchyMeredith's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
Way to go Ursa... my opinion exactly. I would just like to add, that if you have celiac & know how well that you feel on the diet & you know what made you sick - how can you feed it to your children?!! I just do not get this. It is like we have to line up like robots & wait for the doctors to tell us something that we already know. You should... -
ARCHIVED Dealing With My Mother....
gfpaperdoll replied to LoveBeingATwin's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
I agree that you cannot be around people that make bad choices and are not good for you. But I would also like to offer an explanation for these parents. It is that they are suffering from neurological problems. Please do not forget that celiac and gluten intolerance is not only a disease of the gut but a disease of the brain. I venture to say that... -
ARCHIVED Entrolab Test
gfpaperdoll replied to Linda56's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
yes, I really like Enterolab & have used them & have several friends that have used them. It is not widely known but there are some doctors that use them also... re negative blood work, you probably have the gluten sensitive genes - but just a guess... & your doctor does not know what he is talking about. When you become very thin &... -
ARCHIVED Update...from Oh No Newbie
gfpaperdoll replied to AnObstinateOne's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
If your baby is finished with testing then you can start to feed her gluten free, even if the biobsy is negative you should do a dietary trial. & oh my only two samples, that does not sound like enough... re your other child & a food allergy, I have found that when you become gluten free then your other food allergies either go away or are lessened... -
ARCHIVED A Glutening And A ?
gfpaperdoll replied to buffettbride's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
You might try Whole Foods 365 brand cheetos, I do not think they have things like MSG in them, but I really do not remember the ingredient list. I think they taste better than regular cheetos & have less chemicals & are cheaper... -

ARCHIVED Let's Talk About Severity Of Symptoms
gfpaperdoll replied to emcmaster's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
re that grilled chicken salad, most all restaurants put a grill baste on chicken & other meats. You have to ask them to cook your chicken without the grill baste. & you know why they put the grill baste on it don't you? because it has the addictive gluten in it & makes it taste better... -
ARCHIVED Grandson (dq2,8) Has Sores, Rashes And Seizures
gfpaperdoll replied to kelliac's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
I am sure some of the experts will chime in here to help you. My grandson had one of those attacks - in the car - we were actually in the medical center area for another reason, he had a reaction to macadamia nuts, or pine nuts - we keep him away from all those now - he was about a year or two & also had all the spots & the fever... - the doctors... -
are you eating anything else besides fruits, veggies, meat, seafood, nuts, seeds, eggs, & rice??? If you are eating any other grains i would not eat them at all. I also would not be drinking any sodas, or coffee. no candy bars, really no processed anything... try some 100% welch's grape juice... Are you eating a lot of beans & potatoes? if...

ARCHIVED Well, School Lasted About Two Weeks, Lol
gfpaperdoll replied to taweavmo3's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
I think home schooling is the perfect thing for a child. Much more natural & better for the child to be in a good home environment. More stimulating also I think. I do not see any proof that the modern school system has done anything more than turn out factory workers. The prisons are still full of messed up people... -
ARCHIVED Potatoes Are The Problem!
gfpaperdoll replied to Michael Fowler's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Ursa major, this was on another thread but I foget where - you said that your daughter could not eat eggs in baked goods. I finally figured out that I have the same problem, I kept thinking about it & I thought well, I can eat boiled eggs & no problems - but somehow everytime I ate a homemade baked anything it would make me very nauceous & then... -
ARCHIVED Potatoes Are The Problem!
gfpaperdoll replied to Michael Fowler's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Thought I would chime in here that I also have a problem with the nightshades. The only one that I eat is tomatoes... I never could eat any of the gluten-free grains that everyone enjoys & I have recently had a problem with rice. I was already gluten-free DF for 3+ years now. I will say that for the most part I feel okay & I work out at the gym... -
ARCHIVED Gi Doc Finally Calling In Celiac!
gfpaperdoll replied to Luisa2552's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
yes, that pain in the upper left side is a common one - & if I get glutened even slightly I get that pain... I hope you are better soon... Have you double checked all your ingredients - did you read the threads on cleaning out the kitchen re chopping boards that kind of thing... -
Oh Ali, I am so sorry about your roomies, that is awful. you really do not need that. I could not come up there or I would be giving those jerks a piece of my mind - but hey wait a few years, their ignorance will cost them... do not think that all that gluten is not killing them - although they may not look like it... Would your mom be willing to visit...

I forgot to mention another thing that I know - although I do not have any scientific evidence but I have observed this in myself & several other people... & it concerns dairy, when you consume dairy with wheat it helps mask the symptoms of the wheat (gluten) & if you give up dairy & do not give up wheat (gluten) then the reaction from...
