gfpaperdoll replied to Andy-oh's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
You probably have the gluten intolerance genes. It usually minifests with at least some neurological stuff. Well if you have gluten intolerance you can get the villi damage also, it is just not well documented, but it happens. A lot of people that have villi damage do not get the gene test. I am double DQ1 - you might want to do a search on here for... -

are you eating any grains? I would say to watch out for dairy, soy, grains in about that order. Also, potatoes, & legumes, are generally not tolerated well, at least by the people that are having problems. I think at the beginning you should not eat any grains. Your insides just cannot handle them. If you can do corn, maybe, maybe some white corn... -

if you are allergic to peanuts be careful with eating beans which are another legume like peanuts. Also legumes are a high lectin food. If you can eat them make sure that you soak them overnight & cook them on top of the stove. Cooking on top of the stove at a high heat destroys some of th bad lectins. If you cook them in a crock pot the heat is... -
ARCHIVED Always Feels/looks Tired
gfpaperdoll replied to buffettbride's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
I think B12, a sublingual, is very important, even if their levels test okay - give the B12, it will not hurt them, the excess is excreted in the urine. At least 9 hours of sleep. Also, make sure that their room is absolutely dark - no clock lights, no night lights, no light at all, even if you have to black out the windows with something - the room needs... -

Dadoffiveboys, Thanks for the update. I am so happy for your dad!!! hard to change our habits when we are older - so I give him a lot of credit for going gluten free. ARCHIVED Bed Wetting
gfpaperdoll replied to skipper30's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
I think bed wetting is associated with dairy - take out the dairy & I think it will go away. there has been papers published on this - or so it seems I remember from an old brain talk post, or it might have been just some moms that figured it out... -

gfpaperdoll replied to hiveman's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I just love all Ursa's posts. well the problem is that you have been trying to get the doctors to figure it out. when really you need to be asking us, like you are doing now, after 3 years. gfpaperdoll replied to Momof2cuties's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
People do not understand that if they touch cookies & then touch your daughter's food or drink cup that they just contaminated your daughter. Also, I agree with the others, that she could be getting the contamination from the other kids hands & faces & from the adults... -
ARCHIVED Another Interesting Day At The Doctor's Office
gfpaperdoll replied to Ridgewalker's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
Is Ezra gluten-free? I have a friend that coughs when she gets wheat - she also cannot eat dairy, I think she is allergic to wheat in addition to the gluten problem. Her husband is thrilled now that she is gluten-free because she does not cough all night anymore. I had walking pneumonia for a year when I was a child. I am also allergic to sulfur drugs... -

ARCHIVED Enterolabs?
gfpaperdoll replied to daron5780's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
They are very credible, go to their web site & decide for yourself. They are located in Dallas... Dr. Fine is an MD gastro specialist... He is cited by other doctors that are studying gluten intolerance which has just about been totally ignored by the medical community, why if you have a negative blood test they usually will not even do a biobsy... -
Ali, I will say that people can find you with just your first name, that is why I do not use my real first name on any forums. It is just not safe...
-
oh Ali, I am so sorry this happened to you. You know all kinds of people read these forums, that do not even post here, so no telling who it was. Gosh, even I that have met you once, do not know where you live... & you belong to a sorority? I will say that people have had loved ones in their lives commit suicide & people do not take it lightly...

ARCHIVED Glad I Found The Boards! Any Help Would Be Great.
gfpaperdoll replied to daron5780's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
You can also test thru enterolab.com & not have to go back on the gluten. I have a friend that gets a cough from gluten & her throat swells up. It is good to go out to eat with her, because one bite & she can tell if it contains gluten, I do not think she even has to swallow... she also cannot tolerate dairy. I think that she has a wheat... -
ARCHIVED Enterolabs?
gfpaperdoll replied to daron5780's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
& some people that have a positive biobsy use them to then find out if they have a problem with dairy etc & to get the gene test. & then they have their whole extended family tested - because enterolab is easy to use. You can order it from anywhere in the world & you do not need a doctors referral to order the tests. And it does not go... -

ARCHIVED Just Found Out About This After 10 Years Of Pain
gfpaperdoll replied to a topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Ohiodad, I am 60 & I have more energy & feel better than I did when I was 25 (I was sick all the time then...) just take it one step at a time. first decide what you are going to do about testing. Then when that is done start your diet - of eating just whole foods - no need to purchase those gluten free noodles for at least a couple of months... -
ARCHIVED Pregnant And Possible Celiac
gfpaperdoll replied to hmseyer21's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
It is great that you are taking the liquid prenatal. It is very important that you start taking a sublingual B12 - right away, It will not harm you... You need it, no matter if your B12 level tests okay. The lasagne noodles should be okay, the only thing is that you should also be dairy free. Dairy is very hard to give up but you need to for at least... -
mom23boys, some insurance will cover enterolab - you have to check, but if you go thru insurance it goes on your medical records. The cost varies with what tests you have run. I think the gene test alone is $169.00 - not sure as I have not been on that site for a bit. It is better to get the gene test thru them because they also test for DQ1 & DQ3...
