  3. Full size hershey bar wrapped with the birthday boy's name a themed party favor bag - in a nice bag like a denim bag or a canvas bag... a small paper bag with the top folded over & fastened with a large paper clip with each childs name written on the bag filled with chocolate kisses or other chocolate candies & include some plastic animals etc...
  4. I think you are a smart mom, no one needs dairy, red dye, soy, or gluten (wheat, rye, barley) or oats because they have cross contamination issues & I think they are just plain bad for you. also please give your child a sublingual B12, it will help a lot. most people that have a gluten problem need the extra B12. It will not hurt him, excess is excreted...
  5. most people & everyone I think, with a gluten problem do not absorb enough B12, period, & the levels stated as acceptable is too low to start off with, so it is just an awful problem... affects the brain in a big way, especially for kids. my son never liked veggies or fruits, has something to do with children & evolution, how their taste is...
  6. The daughter that is constipated needs to be on a gluten free & dairy free diet right away the same as the other daughter. Negative celiac tests mean nothing, while a positive is a positive. You should see improvement in both girls right away. & P.S. If I can indulge myself & say how ridiculous for an MD to say a child is "a holder", oh...
  7. amen... to no biopsy when you already know what the problem is... & yea to Enterolab....
  8. are you on a strict diet of healthy foods & no gluten-free bread & goodies? are you avoiding all your known allergens - at least the food ones? I would go to a basic few foods & do an elimiation diet. Are you drinking diet sodas? any artificial sugar? those are big no no's. start taking a sublingual B12, even with a level that is okay...
  9. yep, I would be in the ER ASAP...
  10. children should not brush with toothpaste, the dentists now recommend they brush with water & then the parents are to floss or the kids can do it themselves as soon as they are old enough
  11. re cafe, well you will have to check out some gluten-free places, there is an Australian place that opened recently in San Antonio, TX then there is the Wild Wood Art Cafe in Austin,TX, just a couple I am aware of. You do not have to advertise to the mainstream that it is gluten-free. I smile at Pei Wei all the time, I am sure that no one knows that the...
  12. You can have your old fun life back, it is your choice. But with your old fun life you might not live that long or even be able to get out of bed. I suggest you volunteer somewhere. When volunteering & helping people they love you & do not care if you do not eat the cookies... I choose to have my new fun life that is all healthy. In a whole...
  13. Sorry, I am in texas & have not heard of them. Are they doing all the blood tests?
  14. I am one of the people that is hesitant to advie a biopsy, which I consider invasive & dangerous... & you could still be gluten intolerant & have a negative biopsy, so the only thing that accomplishes is that the doctor & the hospital made some money, you missed a day of work or so & you are right back where you started. I advise to get...
  15. Wow, seminar at work??? what did they say? Did they mention celiac? How large a company? I have just been thinking about the huge impact that this could have on companies, a huge savings in medical expenses, as I see all the people at my company with symptoms... read the forum all the new people posts about getting tested & then see what you...
  16. This may not work for everyone, but I suggest cooking a Thanksgiving dinner a week or two ahead - turkey is really very economical meal. Freeze some meals to take with you. I would just freeze them in a glass pie plate so it can be microwaved. top with saran wrap then wrap the whole thing in foil. Gee, I love foil!! of course when you go to heat it...
  17. Not sure about the hemochromatosis tests, there is a web site for it, you can goggle & get the site... re being careful, you have to be more careful than you can imagine. do not open the flour canister - for instance that is the worst. & if you have people in the house eating bread/crackers everywhere, do not touch any of your food until you...
  18. Linda How are you doing? Did you get the answers you needed about food? I eat very plainly & do not buy any gluten free items. I shop mostly from the main stream groceries & just eat fresh foods, like pork roast, carrots with onions, baked sweet potatoes, broccoli, jicama, tomatoes that kind of stuff. I eat fruit & nuts for breakfast &...
  19. High IRON ?? Check into Hemochromatosis - got any Irish genes in your family? I think this originally came from the celtics or Vikings, my Irish family has it, my father's brother died of hemochromatosis. The only other people that I know with this genetic illness happen to be people that also have celiac... But if you catch it in time, the only treatment...
  20. Nyxie, I know it is all a shock & denial is a protective mechanism we have... but be very glad that you have discovered this at 44 you whould soon be healthy as a 20 year old!!! I am 60 & I feel very young & healthy !!! & I was gluten lite for 10 years, thinking I had a wheat allergy, had never heard of gluten, until 4 years ago...
  21. crohn's is just the result of celiac damage. A lot of people have a gluten problem & do not have bowel issues. I suspect that your kids will get worse the more gltuen you give them. I think that if you want a medical test you test thru Enterolab.com. I do not know why you would give them gluten when they were clearly doing very well off of it. Asthma...
  22. In my other life before I was gluten free, I had a problem with corn - just could not eat it, plus a problem with a LOT of other foods. Now I can eat corn with no problems, except I cannot eat canned corn for some odd reason. I do great with fresh corn on the cob & discovered this before I was gluten-free, that when corn came into season that I could...
  23. try to stop eating the brown rice, it is probably too much for your system right now. either no rice or try some well cooked white rice. But I would wait about two weeks before trying to intro white rice.
  24. Note to Donna: You have to be gluten free for 5 years before your chances of getting cancer return to the lower percentages of the general population... everytime you eat gluten it just restarts the calendar...
