ARCHIVED Biopsy Or Enterolab?
gfpaperdoll replied to jessiU's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Check for appendicitis & gall bladder problems. Just get the Enerolab.com tests, the best & easiest route to go. In the meantime go to a diet of plain meats, veggies, fruit, eggs, nuts, seafood. Do not eat any white potatoes, unless that you know for sure that you can handle them. Skip all grains except maybe for some white rice, I would not... -
ARCHIVED New Here And Searching For Answers
gfpaperdoll replied to Nyxie63's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
the reason that you have been going to doctors is because you have health problems, or at least I am guessing that. You have probably had a gluten problem for some time but did not know it. Have you read all the symptoms that it can cause. When you rid the body of gluten & then reintroduce it sometimes you get a bad reaction, most of us anyway, that... -
ARCHIVED Please Read: Can Someone Help?
gfpaperdoll replied to Mern27's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
the bad teeth is so common for children with a gluten problem. If you are not wanting an official diagnosis, I would just go gluten free & dairy Free & no soy milk, some soy milk etc, is not gluten-free. no one really needs soy or dairy. my 9 year old double DQ1 granddaughter has lost all the enamel on her teeth. Her little borther age ... -
ARCHIVED Could The Fog Be Lifting?
gfpaperdoll replied to fkewatson's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
I am so happy for you with the progress your son has made - that is just wonderful. Have you also eliminated dairy? You might also do that as a lot of these kids cannot handle dairy & I would not add in soy, no one needs soy or dairy... be sure to watch for cross contamination, now that he has been gluten-free for 3 months, he is probably going... -
ARCHIVED Need Advice From Parents
gfpaperdoll replied to akflboyd's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
I would not get the psych eval... I would also not give her ANY soy, certainly not soy yogurt, no one needs soy or dairy. Introduce kale & sweet potatoes.. add a sublingual B12 - very important.. & I applaud you for doing this for your child. She will get better. I think all OCD comes from problems in the gut, remember Jenny on the Oprah... -
ARCHIVED She's Still Saying I Need A Colonoscopy!
gfpaperdoll replied to TrillumHunter's topic in Doctors
Trillium Hunter, good for you!!! With that anemia I would not be having a scope done period. I also suggest you start taking the sublingual B12 right away. Happy to hear you are improving on the gluten-free diet !!! I had pernicious anemia which they thought was leukemia, not... -
re blue bell ice cream, here is the deal, they make the vanilla ice cream then they make the flavors, like strawberry & cherry etc, THEN they make the ice cream that has the cookies in them, then they make the chocolate ice cream, then they clean the machines & start all over again. I used to eat the vanilla & the strawberry, cherry, banana...

ARCHIVED Dr Is Suggesting Invasive Tests-----need Advice
gfpaperdoll replied to dinali63's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
Doctors make money doing a biobsy, period. If a child has the symptoms & has a celiac mom, then a dietary trial should give you the answer. Unless, the child has other complicated health issues, blockages, abnormalities etc. Then if the child does not improve on a gluten-free/DF diet then you should look for other problems. The real truth is that... -
no not everyone has a problem with lectins, but when you start changing your diet & eating them a couple of times a day everyday & potatoes everyday you will have a problem before long...

For a refresher in nutrition get the book "Super Foods" this is not a gluten free book, so just skip the part about wheat etc. I advise you to go dairy free at the same time - maybe at least 2 months & then add it in slowly, to see if you can handle it. I also recommend the book "Dangerous Grains" One last piece of advice, do not start buying...

ARCHIVED Feedback Will Be Greatly Appreciated
gfpaperdoll replied to bluewave's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
yes, a gluten free diet will help dyslexia. Be sure to look into getting her a sublingual B12, she needs to start taking that right away. keep us posted. If her tests are negative, you need to just test thru Enterolab.com or give the diet a try. It sure sounds like she has a gluten problem. I recently ran into a young man that was 6'8"... -
ARCHIVED Low Pos. Igg Test For Gluten And Symptoms Of Celiac
gfpaperdoll replied to a topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
well, I think that if you know you get all those dangerous symptoms from eating wheat (gluten) & then continue to eat wheat that there is not much that I can say to help. you could get negative testing for the next 30 years, if you live that long. So what do you want to believe? What your body tells you or what some lab puts on a piece of paper?... -
besides the gluten issue, I certainly would not be eating out of any ceramic dishes that had cracks in the glaze!!!! & yes, bedsides that gluten, and gee who knows what else, could be in those cracks...

ARCHIVED Genetic Testing - Double Dq8 - Anyone Else Have The Double?
gfpaperdoll replied to GFinMN's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
gluten-free in MN, you might need to try going dairy free also, & for a time grain free, you might be able to add some things in later. But for now, I would play it totally safe & not eat any grains. I would also not eat soy, no one needs soy. No artificial sugar. just rethink everything that you are eating. I think that you can still get some... -
ARCHIVED Crohn's + Possible Coeliac
gfpaperdoll replied to Shadow's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
IMO your celiac is what caused the crohn's. Your chrons should heal once you are gluten free for some time. You should also go dairy free & probably just go grain free. Stick with the diet. I have a friend that I have posted on here before that thought she had crohns. She is a vet & worked for a vet that has celiac & his daughter &... -
ARCHIVED Catching Gluten Sensitivity Early
gfpaperdoll replied to jasonD2's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I think from day 1 a healthy diet helps you avoid cancer. I read somewhere that people with celiac have a higher rate of cancer until they have been gluten free for 5 years when their cancer rate then equals that of the general population. Not sure where I read that... But I am also sure that varies, that could be only for people that have advanced villi... -
ARCHIVED Genetic Testing - Double Dq8 - Anyone Else Have The Double?
gfpaperdoll replied to GFinMN's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
oh wow, I have never heard of anyone being double DQ8. Most people seem to have a DQ2 & a DQ8 or DQ2 & a DQ1, or DQ8 & DQ3, etc, in other words either one of the gluten genes & one of the gluten intolerant genes, or one of each of the gluten genes, or two gluten intolerant genes. Those of us that are double DQ1, know that it is a bummer... -
ARCHIVED Is Celiac Disease Just Advanced Gluten Intolerance?
gfpaperdoll replied to aeshlea's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
I think so & so do others like Dr Fine of Enterolab.com I also think that a lot of gluten intolerant people die of other things before their villi totally go, like my mother who died of colon cancer. I am double DQ1 & I have a double DQ1 friend with osteo & another auto immune illness... & a positive biopsy for celiac... -
ARCHIVED ...of All The Things To Pass On...
gfpaperdoll replied to scotty's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
I do not buy Tyson chicken, not sure but I think if you check carefully you will find that it has a broth on it that contains soy. You probably have a problem with soy - if that is the case with the chicken. I also do not tolerate much soy, which is also in canned tuna... -

ARCHIVED Top Three Suggestions For A New Gluten Free Girl?
gfpaperdoll replied to aeshlea's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
1. Make a notebook for your car with the gluten free menus and shopping lists that includes brands, until you get the hang of shopping... Maps to your local health food stores or Whole Foods etc... 2. Join your local support group. 3. Read some books on celiac & Super Foods which is not a gluten-free book but a good refresher on nutrition. I... -
ARCHIVED Just Found Out About This After 10 Years Of Pain
gfpaperdoll replied to a topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Ohio DAD, please stay on the gluten free diet, ignore the blood test results, I am sure they did not run all 5 of them anyway... I hope that you will try the diet & take the meds & try to wait before you have to have surgery to remove some of your colon... I think if you just go to plain whole foods - soft ones - no doritoes that you will heal... -
ARCHIVED My Result From Entrolab
gfpaperdoll replied to Linda56's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Linda, I think you should do some research on inner ear disease & celiac, I think you will be surprised what you find out. I hope you are very strictly gluten free & really should be grain free - get off that rice - right away !!!! I just had to cut out rice... I think you should try an elimination diet to find out what your problem is. I think... -
ARCHIVED ...of All The Things To Pass On...
gfpaperdoll replied to scotty's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
Just spend the money & get the kid tested at Enterolab.com no doctors orders needed & they will test for soy, dairy, egg, & gluten... That is the best because if it is gluten intolerance the doctors will totally miss it. AND if he has neurological issues it could most likely be gluten intolerance. which I think is really worse than celiac... -
ARCHIVED In Limbo, Could It Be Celiac,
gfpaperdoll replied to MammaW's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
I hope that you do try the gluten free diet. & yes, gluten passes thru the breast milk. If you cut out peanuts and rice & saw an improvement wouldn't you conclude that other foods he might have a problem with are also causing a problem via breast milk? I think because in our culture wheat is touted to be the most nutritious food, when in reality...
