  1. I'm still on Lexapro for a chemical disorder, but now that I am off gluten, I do not get suicidally depressed, my mood swings have leveled out, and I can think clearly!
  2. Now they are supposed to be gluten-free and safe. The ingredients list Wendy's gives out says they are gluten-free.
  3. I am continuing to read this thread with great interest. My 18 year old son went to his school counselor shortly before school let out and said that he is an alcoholic, and needed help. He has quit drinking, and is taking it day-by-day now. He hasn't lived with me since his son was born last October, so I had no way of directly helping him. By reading...
  4. Hi MtLady! One of my favorite scriptures is in Lamentations:" "Therefore have I hope" I try to remember this and remain upbeat, which helps me deal with the emotional aspect of my pain. Docs don't know why my muscles spasm, at first they just gave me muscle relaxers, but those kept getting stolen. Now I have been taught by a physical therapist how to...
  5. What causes skin tags? It's nice to know that there is a virus out there that my immune system is likely to ignore, since it doesn't ignore anything!
  6. I want to add my thanks just for having this website. I don't know how I would have managed without all of the information I have learned here. THANK YOU!!
  7. It was something about frosties having barley malt in them.
  8. Thanks for the tip on the yoga, Tifany. I never stopped to think that I could hurt myself, which I so do not want to do! I will see if I can find one in my area! Hi, Nicole! Welcome to the thread! I am trying to lose weight, too, about 60 pounds. I have to deal with arthritis pain and muscle spasms, so exercising is slow and gentle. I have found...
  9. Hi, Bev, welcome to the celiac board. I'm sorry your doc was such a pain. You felt better on a gluten-free diet, why do you need a doc's permission to stay on it? Many on the board remain gluten-free, regardless of what docs and tests said, and feel better for it. What you have done is a dietary challenge. Now, you know the gluten makes you sick, do...
  10. SkinnyMinny, I know what you mean! Last bike I had was a standard, with foot brakes and spider bars. That was in 79, so I don't know how far I'll be able to go on my new one! I went to my local bike shop and talked the guys there. They were very helpful about what I needed, and ordered one for me. Now I am waiting for it to arrive so I can start riding...
  11. She said we "gave >her< the impetus to quit", which I took to mean she decided to quit. If she has to ask if drinking almost a bottle of wine a day is something to worry about, then the answer is still "Yes, it is something for you to worry about." It is not that she is drinking alot, it's that it apparently is bothering her, so she needs to do something...
  12. >still waiting for my bicycle to be delivered, thinking enviously of all of you out there riding your bikes and having fun without me<

    ARCHIVED Grosss!

I don't have a remedy, but I am giving sympathy! Those blisters hurt beyond belief!
  14. LindaLee, Both of my cats have celiac, so I use Special Kitty brand from Wal Mart in the green bag. It has to be the green bag, the blue one had wheat last time I looked. Also, probably half of the Special Kitty canned cat food is glutenfree. You have to read the labels, but my cats are doing sssooo much better on a gluten-free diet! I always know when...
  15. If you have to ask the question, the answer is "Yes." You felt the need to ask someone if you have a problem with alcohol, that means you do. It is weighing on your mind and conscious. I am glad you have decided to quit.
  16. The last time I was actually tempted to eat anything with gluten was last Thanksgiving. My dad and sister had come up, and brought with them 2 dozen assorted Krispy Kreme donuts. The donuts sat on the table, right in front of me, and I wanted one of the jelly and one of the glazed soooo bad! I resisted, though, since I did not want to spend the holidays...
  17. OK, problem for me: this is derived from aspergillus fungus, which I am allergic to. Not an option for me, I guess. Now for my question: this article states that celiac is a caucasian disease. Is this really true?
  18. Whew! Your friend sounds like one I used to have! She wanted to know why I tortured myself by giving up wheat, and I wanted to know why she tortured herself by eating the cheese that gave her severe migraines! I wish I could share my real friends with you, food does not come between us.
  19. I eat at Wendy's all the time with no problem. I do not ever eat the chili, though. Too much chance of flour being used for a thickener.
  20. Yep, once a celiac, always a celiac. Your disease did not go away then return. You had to build up enough damage to notice it again. The gluten-free diet is for life.
  21. Why do all of your get-togethers have to involve food? Try planning an activity that food is not a part of, or one that everyone provides their own food anyway. Go watch little league games, take in a movie, or even just take a good old-fashioned stroll around the neighborhood. If food does have to be involved, let her know that a simple fruit or veggie...
  22. I think it is made with barley malt flavoring. You should call the company to see if they will tell you.
  23. Awesome on going the distance! I'm still waiting for my bicycle to be delivered.
  24. I made that point, Carla, thank you for noticing it. Now if I could just stop eating junk food!
  25. I would like to know where and how to begin an elimination test, too. My doc told me to use the ELISA test for a starting place, but if it can be done without the test, I'd like to try it.
