  1. If it is hurting him, try putting some NumzIt or Oragel on it. And give him lots of hugs.
  2. MmHmm, that little green monster is rearing his ugly head. It takes time to recover from physical injuries, more time to recover from emotional injuries. Celiac causes all kinds of problems, one of them being that your entire body is trying to heal. Keep on keeping on, one day you will suddenly realize how easy it is again. Look at this as a test of whether...
  3. I am very, very fortunate, in that my husband sat with me and watched my mom die. Later, when we learned about celiac, and that all of her symptoms fit, he realized that I would die the same, horrible way if I did not stick to the diet. I have no trouble from him, he helps me read labels, even. The rest of my family, though, just doesn't get it. My older...

    ARCHIVED 5 Htp

My husband uses it with no problems. He didn't think it was working, but I noticed a difference!
  5. Can you take ibuprofen? It reduces the swelling of your nasal passages. Other than that, try a nasal decongestant spray.
  6. I was specific about gluten, and so was the lady I was talking to. I made that phone call in Jan or Feb of this year.
  7. Yep, that's what we mean! You had blood tests that showed a positive response.
  8. Welcome to the board!
  9. The boy is 16, and the first round of chemo nearly killed him. He should have the choice of whether to continue or not.
  10. When I called them, I was told they would clearly list anything with gluten in it.
  11. I have that happen to me now and then. A sleep study determined that I have mild sleep apnea. As long as I do not sleep on my back, I am fine.

ARCHIVED Need New Doctor For My Girls

The saddest part of your story is that it keeps getting repeated, with only the names and locations changing. If your daughter's bloodwork was positive, then she is at the very least intolerant. As young as she is, I don't know if there would be enough damage to show on a biopsy. You are welcome to come on this board and vent away!
  13. Yeah, we know what you mean!
  14. This is too funny! Tide original is the only detergent that does not make anyone in my house break out! Each person in my house reacts to a different detergent, so now I am afraid to try anything new.
  15. I quit going to ladies' meetings at church when they started having the meetings at restaurants I can't eat at. I quit going to church when everything started to revolve around food. They chose not to "get it," and I chose not to hang around.
  16. eLaurie, welcome to the board! Vincent, you made my tummy hurt!
  17. Claritin doesn't touch mine. I use chlorpheniramine maleate. It's an older drug, otc, and cheap!
  18. I don't know. Magnesium stearate is in two of the supplements I take. I will have to look it up! I got this from Wikipedia: From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia Magnesium stearate, also called octadecanoic acid, magnesium salt, is a white substance which is solid at room temperature. It has the chemical formula C36H70MgO4. It is a salt containing...
  19. Lisa, just curious: Why are you quitting the Lexapro? I am on 5 mg a day, and have no intention of quitting at this point in my life!
  20. Tiffany is right: you need to have your joints looked at and evaluated by a doctor. I had problems with my left hand that turned out to be a pinched off nerve in my elbow. It took surgery to correct it. For the pain and stiffness in my joints, I use warm water, heat packs, and lots of stretching. Keeping moving helps more than anything else.
  21. Hi Andrew. I am glad that you are studying medicine, it is a challenging subject! I wish you the best of luck at it! That said, I am also glad that you have celiac, since maybe you will be able to recognize it easier in your patients.
  22. Sounds more like restless leg syndrome. If it were apnea, he would complain about your snoring/breathing.
  23. Reads like an advertisement to me.
  24. "Two positive markers" means to me that you do have celiac. Even if your biopsy shows no damage, I suggest you start a gluten-free diet. If you see improvement in how you feel, then you will know!
