ARCHIVED Laugh Of The Day
plantime replied to Canadian Karen's topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
I have to agree with Jersey Angel. I can't hover/squat over something that I have to hitch a thigh over just to reach it. I understand that people in wheelchairs need the higher seat, but my short legs need something halfway between that and a child's potty! For public johns, those disinfectant wipes work fantastic! I do love the picture, though... -
ARCHIVED How Do I Lose Weight When I'm Tired Al The Time?
plantime replied to munchkinette's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
Chocolate does that to me. Maybe you have other intolerances that are doing it to you. I highly recommend a complete food diary. -

If you are taking any statin drugs, it could be side effects from it. It could also be vitamin/mineral deficiencies. Have you had your levels checked recently? -

If she hollers when you bring your own food, ask her if she is willing to pay your medical bills after you eat her food. That shut my sil up in a heart beat. -

plantime replied to capecodda's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Many times, positive bloodwork only comes around after serious damage is done to the intestines. By paying attention to other symptoms and going gluten-free now, you could very well be preventing very serious illness in the future. An ounce of prevention.... -
ARCHIVED Do You Ever Start To Think...
plantime replied to Natlay's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Some people have tried telling me that it's all in my head, but I know that it is also in my body. I am not allergic to chocolate, but it sure does make me sick if I eat it. -

ARCHIVED Are Eggs Okay If gluten-free And Df?
plantime replied to IrishKelly's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Ow!! Love your hair! -
I do the stretches for my neck and back shoulder. I tip my head to the left with my left hand on the top of my head, and reach my right hand down to the floor. I hold it for 20 seconds, then switch to the other side. Another stretch I do is to lie on my back on my bed, tuck my chin to my chest, and press the back of my head into the bed for 20 seconds...

I had that feeling before. It was caused by immobile vertebrae in my neck. The rest of my cervical spine was trying to compensate, and it was causing pain in my right arm. Stretches worked wonders for it! As for the heaviness in your legs, I had that when I was taking Lipitor. It seems statin drugs cause a problem with the nerves. I quit the Lipitor...

ARCHIVED Shocking Story
plantime replied to Gcbec's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
Cindy keeps saying she wants her child to be tested, that is why I agreed with having her lawyer get with her children's lawyers and ordering the gene test. Why isn't her lawyer already doing this? Why isn't this in the public eye now? -
ARCHIVED Shocking Story
plantime replied to Gcbec's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
Tavi is right about this. Each child involved has a lawyer, separate from the state and Cindy's lawyers. Cindy's lawyer needs to get with the children's lawyers and take them a copy of Cindy's celiac diagnosis. The children's lawyers will then >have< to research it, and order the appropriate tests. Doctors will not be able to say no, the tests will... -
ARCHIVED Nut Allergies Or Intolerances
plantime replied to beelzebubble's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
Yes, I do have odd reactions to nuts. If I eat tree nuts, I get very exhausted and tired, to the point that I am unable to get up and do my normal activities. I don't swell up, I don't get hives, and I don't have trouble breathing. I just get very run-down and exhausted. -
ARCHIVED Levels Of Being "glutened" - Different Reaction?
plantime replied to Katja's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
I think it will affect you longer because it happened over a period of several days, as opposed to all at once. -
Since you spent several weeks with a shoe-thingy on your foot, chances are the muscles have yanked up. Try doing hurdlers stretches, 3-4 times a day, holding each stretch for 15-20 seconds.

ARCHIVED Possible Misdiagnosis?
plantime replied to stephtara's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Celiac disease is very often misdiagnosed as other bowel diseases. Try the diet for 6 weeks, see how you feel. That will tell you a lot. You could ask your doctor for an endoscopy with biopsies of the small intestine. -
For some people, having the gall bladder removed means having diarrhea. The liver drains directly into the intestine, which causes a "soup" all of the time instead of only when you eat. It is a normal happening. The headaches and neck pain could very well be related, have you tried stretching exercises and massage for your neck and upper back? I don't...

It could be that your intestines are inflamed from the gluten, and doing the situps squashes, pinches and aggravates them more. I suggest trying ab exercises that don't involve folding yourself in half and seeing if they hurt the same way.

ARCHIVED Shocking Story
plantime replied to Gcbec's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
I, too, questioned (and still do) her story. It is shocking, and I'm sure it happens. What makes me ask questions is her lack of response when questions are asked, and her evasion. She keeps repeating the same things, over and over. We all gave suggestions and support, but she doesn't seem to want that. It is as though she only wants us to give her a... -
I only want the Arby's sauce. Just the sauce! I'll get my own roast beef somewhere else, thank you, just GIVE ME THE SAUCE!!

It could be inner ear, or it could be neurological. I have bad respiratory allergies, so my ears do weird things to me all the time. Especially when the barometer decides to jump up and down!

Ditto. I'm not looking for a personal trainer. If I have to go into that much detail and spend that much time doing it, then forget it. I have a life outside of running, walking, and biking. I'm not a professional athlete, just a middle-sged woman trying to shed a few pounds. Please do not belittle what I do.
