ARCHIVED Does This Sound Familiar?
plantime replied to jerseyangel's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Yep, had that, and it does HURT!!! I assume the position that Lone Wolf described, and massage my entire abdomen. It helps it pass quicker. -
ARCHIVED 4yo In Uk Being Treated For Depression
plantime replied to Nantzie's topic in Publications & Publicity
Sorry to disagree, but it sounds more like she is being a brat to me. She seems to be throwing one long temper tantrum, and her parents are pandering to it. I have moved around a lot (Daddy was in the Army, and we moved every time he got transferred), and I always adjusted. That little girl would, too, if her parents would change their tactics. -
I second the Lexapro. My dosage was upped to 20 mg when the seasons changed, and the difference in my mood and 'tude is spectacular! By all means, talk to your doc. You might also want to talk to a therapist, as drugs are not the answer for everyone.

ARCHIVED Favorite gluten-free Thanksgiving Recipes

I get the food-stuck-in-throat thing. I have to drink more water, chew more thoroughly, and sit or stand for at least 30 minutes after eating. Antacids do nothing to help when I get that way.

ARCHIVED Sleep And Stomach Pain
plantime replied to sephiro499's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
Hi Sephiro, I just saw your post. How is it going? Has your insomnia resolved itself yet? I use Lexapro, which helps me sleep. I take it a half hour before I go to bed. You might need to see your doctor if your sleep/stomach problems keep on. -
ARCHIVED New Campbells Soup Commercials
plantime replied to ravenwoodglass's topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
I haven't seen that commercial yet. I usually get up and do something while ads are on, I don't like seeing all of the food ads! -
ARCHIVED Is It Really That Easy For Some?
plantime replied to Eeyorific's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
Since your son can't have corn, try putting your sloppy jos on fries. That is how I eat them, and I find them quite delicious. Switching to eating meat and veggies is the best way to go glutenfree, and it is cheap. Your family gets more nutrients out of it, you get less expense on the grocery bill. Don't have time to cook every night? Buy some freezer... -
After I learned that I have celiac disease, I researched it a lot. I learned that my mom died of untreated celiac disease (she refused to give up her bread). I told my sister (a nurse) this, and she didn't believe me. Since learning that her daughter is allergic to wheat, she started researching celiac disease for herself. A couple of days ago on the...

ARCHIVED I Didn't Know Where 2 Post This?
plantime replied to Adelle's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
If you are not intolerant, I say enjoy it! It could be the nutrients in it that your body craves, or it could be the creamy consistency of it that you are wanting. There are much worse things in life to crave than milk, cottage cheese, and yogurt! -
ARCHIVED My Son Has Endoscopy On Friday
plantime replied to nikki-uk's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
My grandson gets all of his positive attributes from his dad, my son, who got his from his mom, me!! Your son gets to be like his dad! Also, with eating being his one great pleasure, explore the glutenfree goodies on the web. Celiac is not a reason for not having yummy treats! -
ARCHIVED Fed Up
plantime replied to Chris E's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
The best test is to try the diet for 6 weeks, then evaluate how you feel. The diet is a scientific test, and the results of it are valid. Even if your doctor never accepts what you learn from the diet, you don't need his permission to eat in a way that makes you healthier. -
When I can't sleep, I play games on Pogo. I also save link people give on the board in my favorites folders, and browse them then. Insomnia was the pits, it used to drive me insane, until I had an appointment with a sleep specialist. She explained sleep cycles so well, that I now understand what my body is doing and why. If insomnia is chronic, try seeing...

Hi Rusla!! Welcome back!!

Please don't tell my husband this! He already acts like a baby when he's sick. If he knew this, he would expect to be waited on hand and foot constantly! I don't mind taking care of him when he really is sick, but he enjoys being waited on so much, he would probably become a hypochondriac just to get more!

ARCHIVED Now What?
plantime replied to Marlene's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
A couple of questions: Were your gluten-free pretzels made with soy? Did you have beans of any kind in your chili? The pain your are describing sounds a lot like mine. It started after my gallbladder was removed. When I have that pain under the lower part of my ribs, I know that I have 5 minutes to find a toilet, then I am pooping no matter where I... -
ARCHIVED 2 Things
plantime replied to mbg98's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I'm betting on the facial moisturizer, too. It is too easy to get something like that in your mouth. I am so glad you have a bakery that makes gluten-free cakes so close to you! That certainly makes life a tad bit easier for you! -
ARCHIVED Tell Mommagoose You Love Her
plantime replied to Mtndog's topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
Isn't there a movie out about a kid that eats worms? I know there's a book about it! MommaGoose, are you gonna eat them fried, boiled, sauteed....? Or you stick a hook in 'em and drop a line in the nearest pit for some bass. A fishfry sounds like more fun than eating worms! -
ARCHIVED Yea Or Nay -- Working Out After Being Glutened?
plantime replied to eleep's topic in Sports and Fitness
When I get glutened, exhaustion is a major problem for me, so I don't workout. I just let my body rest until the symptoms subside. You have to test your body, and see what works best for you. -

ARCHIVED gluten-free Foods In Dubai?
plantime replied to lamin's topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
Ooh, Dubai! My husband works in Qatar, he flies through Doha quite a bit. He says you can get pretty much any material item you want, as long as you are willing to pay for it. -

ARCHIVED Endoscopy...
plantime replied to clockworkjoce's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
For my endo, the doc put a tube down my throat and through my stomach to the intestine. I did not feel like it was horribly invasive, no visible marks were left, and it was started and finished the same day, as outpatient at the hospital. I slept for several hours after I returned home, but had no soreness or tenderness. I know that samples were taken... -
ARCHIVED Lexapro - Anyone Had Problems With It?
plantime replied to emcmaster's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I've been on Lexapro for 2 years now, with no side effects. It did not make me bloated or hurt, nor did it make me gain weight. I take it 1/2 hour before I go to bed because it does make me sleepy. I don't think I could handle life without it. If you are on it and want to stop, make absolutely certain that you taper off of it. Stopping cold turkey is... -
If someone asks what brands are glutenfree, I think you could state your brand, just don't say it is yours. You could also email someone about it, if they have that feature enabled.
