  1. I make my own trail mix. I am allergic to tree nuts, and all of the pre-packaged mixes are full of them. It is very easy to make your own using what you like in it. Any time you need to rant, come here and let loose. Just being able to tell it to someone that fully understands helps with the emotional side. As for the fat squirrels in Ontario, I think...
  2. It's the time of year for nosebleeds. My daughter and I get them from the dry air. You might want to try a vaporizer or humidifier, they worked wonders for us. Also, if you think your child is anemic (and your description of him certainly suggests it), you can start him on a vitamin supplement. A liquid one or one that goes under his tongue to dissolve...
  3. I am so angry at my husband! When he called the other day, I told him that Haden is showing classic signs of celiac. My husband actually told me to start saving money for Haden's funeral, since now he is doomed! I about went berserk! There is no reason whatsoever to believe that our grandson will be anything but healthy on a glutenfree diet! In all fact...
  4. Some people are more sensitive to certain smells than others are. My daughter thinks I am absolutely nuts: when I am feeling nauseated, I get a pack of watermelon and just smell it. Something about it calms my stomach and my nausea stops. This is why I believe aromatherapy has merit.
  5. My endo was a visual one, the doc was looking for ulcers. What he found instead was "spots of redness and inflammation." He wanted to know why the lining was like that, so he took samples from those spots. The lab confirmed my self-diagnosis of celiac disease. While the doc cannot see the villi themselves, there are other factors of celiac disease that...
  6. If you eat too many red beets, it will turn your pee pink! My kids had different colors in their diapers because of the food they ate!
  7. You ask a very difficult question! Some people gain weight, some lose it. Sadly, I gain weight just by looking at food. And it doesn't matter what kind of food, either!
  8. Your tests came back negative because you had not been eating wheat for a long time. With your stomach problems when eating wheat, you either have celiac disease, or you have gluten intolerance. Try sticking to a gluten-free diet without cheating for 6-8 weeks, see if your symptoms all start to go away.
  9. I think we've all gone through the phase you are going through now. It is difficult to mainstream, which is what you want to do. Even if you were asymptomatic, you were still getting damage. Yes, we have to deal with it for the rest of our lives. The longer you deal with it, the easier it will get. It will eventually reach a point where it is second...
  10. When I talked to my son about it tonight, he almost cried. He so wants for his son to not have allergies and celiac to deal with. Like all good parents, he wants the best of everything for his son, especially love and health. Thank you, everyone. I know where I can tell Haden's momma to look for advice!
  11. Ooh, I agree with the cookbook! I'll provide my pancake recipe and my cheater-pizza instructions. If one is printed, I'll even buy one!
  12. When my husband and I were choosing our son's name, we opened the back door and hollered each of the options out across the neighborhood. The one that sounded best is the one we chose.
  13. Thank you, Kristy. I read your thread on the Triple Paste (boy, I just love the way the search feature works!), so I will talk to my pharmacist Monday about getting some. I just love that little boy to bits, and I hate to see his bottom, front and back, so sore. It does look like a burn, with lots of blisters on his little sac. Thanks for the tip...
  14. My grandson, who is now 13 months old, has had diarrhea for almost a month. Lately, it is that familiar pasty yellow. Now, he also developed a blistery rash on his privates. His doctor is looking allergy testing. His momma made sure to tell his doctor that I have celiac, but I'm not sure how any tests for that would turn out. I did explain to his momma...
  15. Stones are not the only reason gallbladders have to be removed. Mine was just plain diseased, it was full of scar tissue from being inflamed so much. My daughter's had scarring around the opening of it, which caused her severe pain every time the gallbladder tried to empty itself. Now, I get that pain in my right side, and I know that I have 5 minutes...
  16. I hope you don't forget it, too!
  17. Dwayne is right about the B vitamins. I use a liquid SuperB Complex in my cran-grape juice 1/2 hour before bedtime. That is also when I take my Lexapro. When you take the Lexapro is important, even though the pharmacist might say it is not. I start falling asleep about 1/2 hour after taking it, so I take it at bedtime. When I had my sleep test done...
  18. You are right about the tests coming back negative. Since you have not been feeding the baby gluten, no damage has been done. Even with non-celiac babies, I didn't feed them anything without reading the labels first! Your husband does not have to take care of the baby when it's sick, nor does he go to the doctor with it, so he does not see, and therefore...
  19. Thank you for this link: Open Original Shared Link It is just what I have been searching for!
  20. It has been very interesting reading. Seeing how different methods work for different people only reinforces my belief that one diet does not fit all. Each person needs to experiment until she finds what works for her.
  21. I just love Christmas music! My favorites have to be Christmas Rap by The Waitresses and Last Christmas by Wham. National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation!!! Ooooohhhhh, that movie so my fave holiday classic, after the cartoons, of course.
  22. I am guilty of doing that to people I know. I just feel the urge to give someone a gift, and the urge does not go away until I give it. I look at it as God using me to help someone in some way that I may never understand. I never expect a gift in return, as your friends probably do not. The formal thank you card was wonderful, and inviting them to your...
  23. Fast results are so encouraging!
  24. I have to agree with Tiffany. When my husband is home on R&R, he is more paranoid than I am about gluten. All it took was for him to realize that when I don't eat gluten, I have energy for sex and I'm not constantly complaining about not feeling well.
  25. I'm too much of a "fingers-in-my-mouth" person. I would touch my face, then touch my food, and get contaminated.
