    ARCHIVED Kiss & Tell

I bump cheeks and make kissy sounds. My friends and family know and understand. We put more emphasis on hugs, anyway.
  2. Ah, yes! Pooh freaks! I thought I was the only person in the world that looked in the toilet after pooping to check the color, consistency, and amount. So glad to know that I am not alone!
  3. She was 45. She was diagnosed with nonspecific-somethingorother-carcinoma less than a year ago. Last night, she gave up the fight completely and went to heaven. This hurts me hard. I moved around all my childhood, and the last ten years I have lived in this same house, and had the same friends. Now I have lost one to a disease. I am angry at the...
  4. Fiddle-Faddle, breast or bottle is a choice for us. I do not want the government telling me what and how I have to feed my babies. As far as which is best, my mom nursed me for a year, and I still have celiac. I nursed my oldest for two years, and she has all of the symptoms of celiac.
  5. As far as I know, celiac disease is not considered a qualifying disability. It is treated by what you eat, not what hours you work. I'm sorry that is no help to you.
  6. Happy birthday!
  7. I use the Slim Fast vanilla and chocolates. I think they taste pretty good!
  8. I have seborrheic dermatitis on my scalp. I cleared it up by mixing 2-3 drops of teatree oil in my shampoo. I put the shampoo in my hand, add the teatree oil, and lather up. Something else I do, that you might try on the rest of your body, is I rinse my skin with aloe vera juice when I shower. As for feeling worse after a couple of days gluten-free...
  9. I use Body Fortress 100% Premium Whey Protein Powder. The ingredients are: Protein blend (whey protein concentrate, whey protein isolate), natural and artificial flavors, soy lecithin, acesulfame K, sucralose. Contains milk and soy ingredients. I buy it at Wal Mart, $12.00 for a 2-pound jar.
  10. Using children for lab rats! Did they tell your mom everything, including the risks involved?
  11. When the depression started getting to me, I went to the doctor. She gave me Lexapro. It helps me deal with anxiety and stress as well. When the stress starts getting to me now, I run a tub full of comfortably hot water. I sink into the tub while the stereo plays some of my favorite music. After 30 minutes of that, I am usually ready to sleep. If I...
  12. Woman's Day February 2004 had a great article on celiac disease. That article is what directed me to this site. Woman's Day seems to be pretty 'with it' when it comes to medical awareness.
  13. What are IPB warnings?
  14. I love your pics! Your hair looks great, your cousins have such big eyes!
  15. I could use a portable one for my husband! His would have to be replaced every 6 weeks, though.
  16. If you're using any potato flour, it will suck up the liquid. I only make a small amount of batter at a time, since it has to be used right away.
  17. Celiac was passed down in my family through my maternal grandpa. He was French and Irish. He used to say he was "Black Irish" because his hair was jet-black until the day he died. Vydorscope's little boy, Timber, has the most gorgeous red curls!
  18. That's a good point. My sister uses a scoop for flour, then uses the same one for sugar when she bakes.
  19. This is why I stuck with the diet when it seemed so overwhelming. I just felt so much better! Then I got my grandson. I want to live a long, healthy life so I can watch him grow up.
  20. Wow, the changes your family is experiencing are awesome! I don't know where to find Tinkyada pasta, I use Mrs. Leeper's corn pasta. Glutenfree pasta is not cooked the same way as wheat pasta. For the Mrs. Leeper's, I bring the water to a boil, add the pasta, and set the timer for 7 minutes for rotini--8 minutes for elbows and spaghetti. As soon as the...
  21. Ursula helped me with a problem that was bothering me. She was kind enough to keep it private, too.
  22. I am glad this plan is working so well for you! I keep looking at it and thinking about it, but I'm not sure I'm really ready to get serious about losing weight. I don't stick to any program long enough to see if it will work for me.
  23. Kate, I'm glad you're feeling better and doing fine. Thanks for the update!
  24. Celiac is like pregnancy in two regards: 1. False negatives abound, but not false positives and 2. There's no such thing as "a little bit pregnant" or "a little bit celiac" It is a learning curve, and the curve goes pretty much straight up. We are here to answer your questions and listen to your panics if you need us. {{{hugs}}}
