Ha! I don't know, but if I needed a left foot toe sock, I would just go raid my daughter's sock drawer. She loves those things!

The only reason I can think of is that someone might have been participating in a scavenger hunt. It is like the spring break when someone stole the $1 plastic bumblebee spinner off of my day care sign.

I agree with seeing the eye doctor about it. They are the ones trained specifically to know what affects the eyes and how, so they would be the best doc to see. My daughter's eye doc treats allergies that affect the eye.

ARCHIVED Random Acts Of Kindness
plantime replied to angel-jd1's topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
A random act of kindness? My neighbor came over one afternoon and tested the wiring in my Bronco to see which one needed to be replaced. My daughter fixed me some lunch when I wasn't feeling well. -
ARCHIVED Reflux?
plantime replied to Poohbeck's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
The celiac blood panel is different from other panels. It has to be ordered specifically. The endoscopy will allow the doc to see any ulcers or unusualness in your small intestine. Hopefully, the doc will look at the lining and take samples from inflamed/unusual-looking areas. Your symptoms are similar to what mine were, except I did not have reflux.... -
ARCHIVED Feeling Worse After A Bm
plantime replied to chick2ba's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I don't feel gross, but I do sometimes feel weird. Sometimes, after a bm, I can't stand up straight. It is almost as if my bowel emptying itself knocked the rest of my innards out of line. When I asked my doc about it, she said it is probably the muscles working that are still cramped up. I don't know, I just know I feel weird and don't like not being... -
Pinkeye is going around my community, which you could very well have. Your symptoms also fit colds and allergies, though. I recommend a hot, wet washcloth across both eyes every 3-4 hours. Leave it in place until it is cold. If it doesn't clear up in a couple of days, go back to your doctor.

ARCHIVED Gluten Free Goes Mainstream
plantime replied to ebrbetty's topic in Publications & Publicity
That is an excellent article! I was glad to see that the reporter noted that the condition is life-long, and that even trace amounts cause problems. -
ARCHIVED Not Sure Where I Belong?
plantime replied to Rook's Mommy's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
Addie, you can post anywhere on the board you want to. Please do not feel restricted to one section! There are many good mommies on the board that have been through what you are now going through. Give them some time, and I'm sure some of them will chime in. -
ARCHIVED New With Questions
plantime replied to Rook's Mommy's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
Addie, I'm so glad Rook is doing so well! At his age, the change to glutenfree means that he will have a much higher incidence of a happy and healthy life! -
ARCHIVED Another Girl Question
plantime replied to ReneCox's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
It could be a result of going glutenfree, inasmuch as your body is trying to reset itself. It could also be that you are having other problems. You need to see your doctor to determine which it is. -
ARCHIVED Hmm... Strange
plantime replied to boroboy77's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
No, this is not a weird phenomena. I, too, gave in on Christmas Day and ate pie with wheat crust. I had a little bit of a tummy ache. Period. Nothing else. I asked my doc about it, and she said that I have probably reached a point in my healing that I can tolerate an occasional mistake. Then she got all stern and bossy and told me not to act like an... -
ARCHIVED Bette Hagman's Biscuit Mix
plantime replied to taweavmo3's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
I have never used Bette Hagman's mix, as I am allergic to rice. However, I have noticed that when I bake with my flours, the dough/batter is not the same as when I used wheat flour. I have made the drop biscuits, and they were quite good. I liked them best crumbled into soup. -
Columbus, Kansas St. John's Medical Center Diana Marshall, PRN 620-429-3636 She diagnosed gluten intolerance in me based on dietary reaction. She is the first person that told me that dietary response is a test in and of itself. They take insurance.

Aren't our grandbabies just adorable, Ursula? I'm enjoying watching yours grow up in your avatars, too! -
ARCHIVED Found A Paper On The Net--so Informative
plantime replied to darlindeb25's topic in Publications & Publicity
Hi Deb. I read part of it, but painkillers for an injured shoulder muscle have me seeing double. I printed it off to read later, as the part I have read really looked good. Thanks for the article! -
ARCHIVED Non Gi Symptoms
plantime replied to Michelle M...'s topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I get some pain in the gi tract, but most of my symptoms are in my joints and brain. I get extreme pain in my joints, and I can't think straight. I also get suicidal when I have gluten. I don't know about skin problems, my allergies interfere with any "tests" I could do myself. -
The tea sounds pretty standard. It could be that the blend is wrong for your digestive tract. Luzianne brand tea has me sitting on the throne for an hour at a time with intestinal cramps and spasms.

ARCHIVED Let's Talk About Depression And Celiac...
plantime replied to JerryK's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I know that chronic physical pain causes depression, so it would not surprise me at all if constantly feeling crappy causes depression. I think it is a vicious cycle: first you are always sick, then you get depressed about it, the depression makes the sickness worse, which makes the depression worse.... Breaking the cycle is hard to do. That is where... -

ARCHIVED To All Our European Friends
plantime replied to Lisa's topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
I'm so sorry! I have been so focused on the bad weather here, that I didn't realize that others were having it. Please check in and let us know how you are doing. -
Yes, stomach bugs can cause enormous bloating. My very slender son had a stomach virus at the end of May. He puffed up pretty bad, and wound up having to have his appendix removed because of it. The surgeon said it really is quite common, people just don't realize how much abdomenal/intestinal swelling a virus can cause. Whatever it is, take care...

ARCHIVED Fruit Cocktail?
plantime replied to Rook's Mommy's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
With no pineapple in the fruit cocktail, I don't know what else it could be. Unless Rook is reacting to the dyes used in the cherries. My daughter can have pineapple now, it was just causing my breast milk to curdle. Onions and dill pickles did the same thing to me, so I had to watch what I ate carefully. I hope Rook gets better soon! If that is... -
With a mohawk! In this picture, he is 11 months old. He gets a haircut once a month, his hair grows so fast! In my profile is a picture of him riding a motorcycle, if anyone is interested in seeing it.

plantime replied to GFBetsy's topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
It's very sad that a few rude bashers drove off some wonderful people.
