  1. I need to add a pasta machine to my birthday wish list!
  2. My husband likes the Chef Boyardee lasagna mixes that have thick crusts underneath, so I wonder how it would taste to use piecrust and fill it with sauce and cheese? Probably more like Pizza Pockets than ravioli. I need to find a pasta recipe and try to make my own raviolis!
  3. It does sound a whole lot like what some of us go through when we have a gluten accident. The name for it is entirely appropriate!
  4. 201!!! AAARRRGGGHHH!!!! I've been exercising and being careful about what I eat, the gain is because it is a BAD arthritis day! All of my joints are swollen up huge and aching. This is the part about trying to lose weight that frustrates me the most!
  5. I have three: celiac disease, RA, and allergies. With RA, it does not go away. Certain circumstances (in my case pregnancy) will throw it into remission, but I have never seen it go away permanently. Flare ups happen. You should see an RA doc at least for initial evaluation and advice. Just because you have no problems today does not mean you will...
  6. I saw that in that article, and decided the writer was trying for some drama!
  7. I don't have any questions. I just want to say thanks for going and taking notes for the rest of us.
  8. The tests you posted do not appear to have much to do with celiac, except the IgA. Ask your doc's office for the numbers on the IgA test. What one lab considers normal another says is too high or too low. I got my formal diagnosis by accident, I was originally diagnosed by positive improvement on a glutenfree diet. Usually, for the blood tests to come...
  9. It sounds like she is starting with the least invasive tests first. If she comes up with positive results from the bloodwork and stool sample, she might not order an endoscopy. Although she might order it later to determine the extent of damage, but that will depend on what she finds in the other tests. It is my ~humble~ *opinion* that she is starting...
  10. Thank you for that wonderful link, Meadow! I have been searching for info on this, and I just kept finding sites where I could buy insulin and such. I really must figure out how to do searches more effectively.
  11. I have celiac disease and RA. In my case, the RA was found llooonnnnggg before the celiac disease was! For me, the glutenfree diet does not stop the RA pain and swelling. HOWEVER....if I do eat gluten, the swelling and pain are extremely worse!! Don't kick yourself over what is past, just do what you can to do better now and in the future!
  12. Judy05, Right-side pain? Have you been tested for gall bladder or appendix problems?
  13. Yes, celiac3270, it did! It was very easy to set up, now I am just waiting for new articles to come out so I can read them! Thank you for the info!
  14. Thanks celiac3270! I'm going now to try and set it up!
  15. The last blood test showed my sugar level to be normal, but my insulin levels as high. When I try to cut back on fats and sweets, I get dizzy and shaky. Doc says I am pre-diabetic, whatever that means. I won't go back to her, whenever I have an illness, she says that all I have to do is lose weight to get better. She prescribed Lexapro for a headache...
  16. I thought York was supposed to be one of the good labs? What test did they run on your blood to come to that conclusion?
  17. celiac3270, how do you get these alerts? Is there a setting on your browser? Something that I can set mine to get?
  18. "Any advice about the struggle of holidays, visitors, and eating out -my problem is balancing points for the day/being disciplined/organized etc." The only advice I have to offer on this is to eat a large salad/fruit plate before the main course, and try using smaller plates/bowls. I used to have a day care, and had kiddy size dishes. I found it easier...
  19. Thanks for the advice. I have been wondering how to eat for my own blood sugar problems. It doesn't spike up high, so my doc just said to lose weight. She didn't tell me anything about balancing proteins and carbs, or the different effects of simple vs complex carbs.
  20. Thanks for the education. Learn something new every day!
  21. Thank you! I am in a baking mood today, so maybe I will try this one!
  22. I don't understand what communion has to do with wheat. By that I mean why does the wafer have to be wheat? What is the difference, as long as there are no leavening agents used?
  23. "When you wake up, start over, and don't look back" Excellent advice! You had a high day, but that doesn't mean it has to hurt you. I have found that the occasional mess-up helped by preventing a plateau. Don't make a habit of it, but don't dwell on it or keep kicking yourself for it!
  24. Hi Ash, welcome to the board! Yes, celiac disease can cause the problems with your hair. You are probably malnourished because of the celiac disease, so your hair is not getting the nutrients it needs to grow beautifully. I'm not sure what you can do at this point, other than go glutenfree and get your hair cut, so that properly nourished hair can grow...

I was trying to make my siggy fancy, and what I have is all I was able to get. I wasn't even sure how I did that little bit! Now I just feel ! I do remember clicking on close all tags, and thinking that I was basically cancelling what I had tried! If I had only realized!
