  1. Have you had your ears looked at? I know it seems like reaching, but last summer, I had the same symptoms, and my doc wrote them off as stress. She gave me Lexapro for it. Several months and a different doc later, it was discovered that I had an inner ear infection. It took three rounds of antibiotics, each stronger than the last, to clear it up. Now...
  2. Since they did find the genes, avoiding gluten now will prevent damage in the future. You know from your own experience how eating gluten makes you feel. If you do eat it, then you will feel the miserable reaction that you have now, as well as start doing damage to your intestines. An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure, especially in the case...
  3. Mine had to come out. It was bad, diseased and damaged. The problems I have now from its removal are very mild compared to what they were before! As long as I remember to take my digestive supplements, I am fine. For others, removal is a mistake. It really depends on what is actually wrong with the gallbladder. The sad thing is that sometimes, the only...
  4. Yes, you can live without your gallbladder. The only problem I have without it is that my liver does not produce bile on demand for digestion. That means that sometimes after eating dinner, it is breakfast time before food starts digesting. I now use a digestive enzyme when I eat a major meal. I forgot it once, and was miserable and in severe pain all...
  5. We'll ignore your bad spelling if you'll ignore ours! Welcome to the board, we are glad to have you. I have not found a bread that I like the taste of, so I just go without it completely. I don't use a machine, never have, probably never will! Come on back when you have more time and more questions. Read over the board, you just might find that someone...
  6. Jen, I love your kitten salad! I have cat-fur lapblankets that purr and vibrate and protect me from yarn! Mine are gluten-free, but not organic.
  7. Yes, you do find out real fast who cares about you and who doesn't. Last Friday, our car was broke down, and my son's truck broke down, so his girlfriend's grandma came and rescued us and took me so I could get groceries. She is a wonderful lady, I enjoyed being with her, but when her and my son's girlfriend decided, without asking anyone else, that we...
  8. My first grandbaby is due Oct 28, does that count for anything?!? It looks like we will have a fantastic baby-time this fall! Keep us all posted on how things are going for you all!
  9. Try adding a B-complex with it. My doc told me to never take one without the other, as the depend on each other for maximum effectiveness.
  10. I would have kept the basket itself, but put the cookies on a plate for everyone to share. I do not think you were rude. Rude would have been if you had started crying and whining and throwing a fit because someone forgot that you couldn't have the cookies.
  11. Last summer, about half an hour after eating, I would get so sick to my stomach and my right side would hurt so bad I would have to lie down or pass out. This kept on, even after passing a gallstone. It took a couple of months to convince the surgeon to just take out my gallbladder! It was not inflamed or full of stones when it was removed, but autopsy...
  12. I was at 198 last week, and am at 200 this week. I know that it is almost menses time, so I hope that is it. I have been eating less and exercising more, and just doing my best right now. Congratulations to everyone that lost this week!
  13. A slice of black forest cake last August. I will never do that to myself again!
  14. I agree with Kaiti. If I didn't eat glutenfree foods that are produced in the same plant as glutencontaining foods, then I wouldn't even be able to eat food that I cook. The company has to cover their rears legally.
  15. I have medical tags on a chain that I wear with celiac listed on them. I have other allergies that are serious, so I just added a line with celiac. I decided better safe than sorry!

"Potatoes are a starch. You need to completely eliminate them from your diet to lose weight." When I was told this, I informed my "friend" that potatoes are a staple vegetable, with many nutrients in them. Just don't pile on loads of fatty sour cream, butter, and cheese! The Irish in me cannot live without her potatoes! French fries supposedly have...
  17. That's great Stef! Your own experience helped someone else!
  18. You might be a celiac if you pay $1.59 for a 12 oz bottle of rootbeer!
  19. This has been a good one for all of us! Welcome, Dana. I don't pay for WW either, as I just can't afford it right now. We give each other support and advice on here, for free! Anyone is welcome to join us, so come back every Wednesday (or sooner!) and let us know how you're doing!
  20. My reactions last 2 weeks. The first week is gastrintestinal pain that comes in waves and spasms, the second week is psycho stuff, like depression, feeling "spaced out", and headaches. I stay in bed, drink lots of water, and go easy on food.
  21. I take my own shampoo with me. I made it a point to get to know my hairdresser, and to make sure she knows about me. Come Christmas, she'll get a nice gift for being so helpful and accomodating! (I gift her at Christmas because she won't accept tips.)
  22. 199!! Down 2 pounds!! I cut back on my portion sizes, and work out at least 30 mins a day, 5 days a week. Progress is slow, but it is progress!! Congratulations, Terri!!
  23. Thank you, Kaiti! It does make a difference to know that little bit!
  24. www.health24.com/dietnfood/Food_causing_disease/15-737-740,31418.asp I went to this one, and did not like what I read. The lists that were provided just didn't seem to jive with a celiac diet, and the recipe with gram flour looked so wrong! Unless gram flour and graham flour are different flours, why is a wheat-containing recipe being listed for gluten...
  25. I have been using soy flour as part of my flour blend, and have noticed that my periods are going back to being heavy and painful. Could the phyto-estrogens in the soy flour be causing it? I was getting close to menopause, and looking forward to not having a cycle every month! I am going to stop using the soy flour for a month, and see how my body reacts...
