  1. Mary Kay lip products are gluten free. The creme lipstick has soy in it, though.
  2. I mix three tablespoons of hot water with one tablespoon of ground flax and let it set for a few minutes, then mix it in to whatever I am baking. It is the only substitute for eggs that I use.
  3. I didn't know about celiac until a woman suggested I look into it. Now, here I am, a year later, with a positive biopsy for it. Because someone brought it to my attention, and I was able to research it before the test, I knew more about what to do about it than my doctor did. Put out pamphlets in the waiting room. People will pick them up and read them...
  4. Mary Kay foundation and powder are glutenfree, as are the lipsticks, eye shadows, and blushes. The waterproof mascara is glutenfree, but the other two they sell are not. The clear nail polish, base, and top coat are gluten-free, but the colored nail polishes all have wheat in them. Mary Kay is the only makeup I use, so it is the only one I know anything...
  5. I try to be a positive and upbeat person, Red, but something about your posts just rankles me to no end. Maybe I am just tired of not feeling well, maybe I am tired of people that don't know anything about it acting like experts, and I know I am tired of being told "take this pill, and you will be fine." I don't want to be fine, I want to be excellent!...
  6. Red, I have nothing against you or what you are trying to do. I refuse to take part, and I want others to know that I will not. I do not trust anyone that I do not know personally. You were quick to pull out the religion/political belief card in this! You don't have celiac, you don't what it's like to have to live with it. You have diabetes, which mainstream...
  7. I checked out your link, and it told me nothing. Are you trying to second guess what's wrong with my body? Show me your medical degree first.
  8. Taco Bell's chips are made from wheat flour, not corn. Her meal at Chili's probably had some wheat in it somewhere. Then it sounds like she just caught ye olde fashioned virus! Give her 7-10 days, she should be fine.
  9. I did google it, and I did learn something! Thank you for the head's up!
  10. Nope, everything was fine. I googled cholesterol, and was shocked at what I found! It seems my doc was way overagressive about treating my cholesterol levels. No wonder I got sick from the treatment! She wasn't satisfied until my cholesterol was at a total of 80, but then my triglycerides shot up, so she started telling me to lose weight, immediately...
  11. The only brand of yogurt I have found to be gluten-free is Yoplait. Could it be that the yogurt is getting cross-contaminated at the manufacturer?
  12. I was told leaky gut and celiac were the same thing. I'll have to google it!
  13. You need to avoid gluten. 180 cholesterol is healthy? Mine was 210, and doc wasn't satisfied until it was 110. I will have to research it further!
  14. I don't care how important this is for your research! I give my doctor this info, not some stranger on a public message board!

    ARCHIVED Questions

I voted 0 because I am a water drinker. I have dehydration issues, and the only way of dealing with it is to drink lots and lots of water.
  16. Also, with a child, the doc's biopsy results will be required by schools and day cares so they can accomodate his dietary needs. It is a red-tape technicality, but they will have to have it.
  17. The biopsy will give an idea of how much damage has been done so far, and what you will need to expect as far as length of time to heal. If you are satisfied with the blood results, then you do not >need< the biopsy, but your doc apparently wants the biopsies to give a definite diagnosis.
  18. Mrs. Leepers corn pasta and Ancient Harvest quinoa pasta. I am allergic to rice.

    ARCHIVED Cd & Exercise

I walk. Outdoors, I just walk leisurely around my small town, indoors, I use a Gazelle. I have arthritis, which is now progressing at a horrible rate, so I am limited in what I can do without severe pain. I have found that just leisurely walking helps control things, including my mood. I do range-of-motion for the rest of my body.
  20. It seems to me that in NYC, you would have tons of options! You should have larger stores, more whole foods, more specialty places to shop. Could it be that you have not yet begun to look in the right places? Look in your phone book for an Asian Market, that is how I found a place to shop for my gluten-free goodies.
  21. No, you don't need a separate oven. The food doesn't tough the walls of the oven itself. If you use a bread machine, or something that the food touches the sides of, then you might want to get a new one.
  22. Definitely talk to your doctor! You might also try pureed food, maybe the liquified state of it will help. Digestive enzymes are the next thing to try. Good luck! What college/university are you looking at? Any particular course of study?
  23. My teeth have been yellow all my life, eating gluten-free had nothing to do with it. Someday, I will have them all pulled, and have the sparkling whitest dentures a person ever saw!
  24. Your throat closing up sounds like an asthmatic allergic reaction. My throat does the same thing if I get into or eat something I'm allergic to. Very scary! Doc gave me albuterol inhalers to use when that happens. The inhalers work very well for me!
  25. I wanted to respond, but I never had those tests done, so I don't know anything about the results! I had the endo with biopsy, and it was positive. I wish I could answer your questions!
