Autumn, I'm thinking as fast as I can here....and coming up with nothing. There must be at least one other alternative to organic as I know how expensive it can be. Also, I can only imagine how you feel, its one thing to be restricted to just gluten-free but to loose the other groups as well....man thats horrible. Can you tell me does your corn intollerance...

I'm glad I'm not the only one out there that does that!!! We all need someone to keep us from going over the deep end too, mine is my dad...he is never afraid to tell me when I'm acting a little crazy about it, lol.

ARCHIVED Will Anything Else Help?

I'm so glad to hear you will be feeling better soon, its lousy to be sick especially when you are so sensitive to the things that will make you feel better. I'm also so happy to hear that you found a pharmacy to help you, seems as if not many people have had the same experience! Best wishes for a speedy recovery!! -
It certainly is true and we have told him over and over again how proud we are of him for being the one to step in. He is our gentle giant, always has been. I can honestly say I don't know that I've ever seen a child who has always displayed such concern for others, especially kids smaller than him. Thanks for your thoughts...you are all right and I'm...

We have not been able to contact the other boys parents primarly because we are fairly new to this community. Unfortunately I'm not dealing with parents that I have known for years. The school has taken statements from all the boys on the football team. The principal told my son yesterday that they are almost all identical to what he said happened. Trust...

I'm sorry to post with such a serious tone but I'm at my wits end and I'm not sure what to do. My 12 year old son just finished his football season a few weeks ago. After the last game the boys were changing in the locker room and one boy (whom is notorious for poor behavior) started a fight with another much smaller boy. My son stepped between the two...

I hate it when that happens!!!! I hope you are feeling 100% soon! -
Wonderful information to know! I have spent a couple of days thinking about how I tend to get completly wrapped up in EVERYTHING being celiac related. Any food can cause D or C or even gas especially when you already have a sore gut I think we sometimes forget that.

What about Laffy Taffy and Bottle Caps, lol I was just debating the same thing....what can I nab out of the candy jar! Be careful about the mini size hersheys bars....I think I have read on here before they are not safe. -

I had the exact same experience here in Ohio!! I politely explained to the manager (who pointed out that particular item as a gluten-free item) that wheat free and gluten free aren't the same and why. I haven't been back to see if they are still marked that way though. -
Noel, Good luck with your dairy elimination, I hope you find some relief! Keep us posted.

ARCHIVED Shaking My Head
almostnrn replied to jennyj's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
No you can not guarantee that because the brand name is gluten-free that the generic will be. To further complicate things, there may be several different manufacturers of a generic (whereas with a brand name drug there is only one company that produces it) and some may be safe while others are not. A pharmacy may not always have a choice in which manufaturer... -

ARCHIVED Foods To Avoid

While I don't think its healthy to focus on what you CAN'T have at all I think it might be usefull for new people..well heck all of us to see some ideas of what products are not ok. Other than the obvious of course. We all know there are lots of things out there that have hidden gluten in them. My biggest mistake at the beginning....any Asian food. I... -

I am so sorry this has happened to everyone! I have worked in a pharmacy for 13 years and have personally never worked with pharmacists or even techs that are unwilling to provide information or educate themselves about something this serious. I am willing to get a list together for everyone if you give me some suggustions of what you need to know about... -

I tried that one...it doesn't cover any better than a pressed powder would. I should have know I needed to just buy the Bare Escentuals, lol. Somehow that $10 price tag looked a little more appealing to me . Thanks for the tip! I will check them out -

There must be something in the air lately!! I don't know whats going on with me either...it seems like I get myself over one thing and BLAM I"ve gone and done it again. Quite honestly I don't know what is making my mood worse...the gluten or the frustration. Yesterday I was starving after work (I am home by 2:30). We need to head to the store this... -
Mine definately seem to be set off by very specific things, good luck finding yours. Make sure you are getting plenty of sleep, getting enough to eat, and plently of water. Finally good for you for not being bullied by the doctor. I hope you find some relief soon.

Eventhough last year was technically my first gluten-free Thanksgiving, I was lucky enough to be sick with the stomach flu so eating wasn't much of an issue. I'm gonna somehow cook a feast this year...not sure how and I've been thinking I should start to experiment with some recipes here shortly. Kate, Sorry about your stressfull time, but oh what a...

Noel, I can empathize with you in so many ways! My household isn't completly gluten free (although I've threatened the kids recently that unless they start watching their bread crumbs it will be!) I am also there with the migraine sufferers as well. It got to the point I was almost afraid to leave the house alone incase one hit. The kissing thing...we...

There are several gluten-free drug lists on the web, but don't hesitate to ask your pharmacist to call and verify with the company. I'd give them a call before you arrive so they have a little time to accomidate your request. Any pharmacy that isn't willing to do that isn't worth their salt and I'd look into another one. I've worked in a pharmacy now for...
