  1. I recently had some blood work done due to fatigue. I’m just worn out all the time and feel terrible. My hair is falling out terribly as well. I do have diabetes (not well controlled) and central hypothyroidism thyroid (which levels are normal) as well. My rbc, hgb and hct are always normal but low side of normal as are a lot of my lab results. My vitamin d...
  2. Scott- I have generalized anxiety disorder and complex PTSD. I struggle with all the symptoms of ptsd and ruminating thoughts and severe anxiety. Not sure if that helps or not. I have been on the gluten free diet for a while, but I have been glutened here and there since in foods and medicines and cross contact. I have been dealing with autoimmune responses...
  3. I am still struggling with getting this gluten-free way of life right. Between foods and medicines I still haven’t got it all figured out, trying but not there 💯, so I know I have had gluten in some form. aside from the gastrointestinal issues and general immune system issues such as itching and rash and allergies etc the gluten exposure has also been caus...
  4. Wow thank you! I did not know this. Thanks for the information
  5. That’s interesting to know only 3 grams of gluten will initiate an immune response . How do you know how many grams of gluten is in a food?
  6. Thank you for sharing. I have been gluten free for quite a while now. My symptoms and rashes and antibodies all improved with a gluten free diet. I go back to my GI doc in six months for blood work, so I can talk to him about some of this then I guess, but my levels weren’t elevated like yours in the beginning so I doubt it will be an option for me
  7. Thank you for sharing. And thank you for the encouragement that I am not making some horrible decision by not having the biopsy. I think he has my diagnosis as gluten sensitive enteropathy and elevated celiac markers or something like that. do you mind me asking how elevated yours was on a gluten free diet that allowed you to achieve a positive biopsy...
  8. Thank you for this good information. The question you posed is an interesting one. My brain works in weird ways, and I am honestly concerned that if I did not get a positive biopsy, my brain would latch on to that, even while knowing that my GI believes I have it, and I am honestly concerned that I would go back to eating gluten and somehow justify it, regardless...
  9. I am one of those who fell through the cracks- didn’t get the biopsy done before going off gluten, because even though I had positive TTG-IGA antibodies I was told I could not have celiac disease but to go gluten free. Of course my newly established gastroenterologist has tried to convince me numerous times to go back on gluten and get the biopsy, but I c...
  10. Thank you! I wish doctors were more transparent about this instead of acting like the 2 most common genes they test for are the only ones. This whole process has been so confusing and overwhelming and frustrating
  11. That is helpful, thank you!
  12. How many genes are there for celiac? Are there just 2 genes? And do you have to have a gene in order to have celiac?
  13. I am trying but I keep messing up… between coffees with gluten containing syrups and seasonal candies that aren’t gluten free but don’t say so on the bags and other cross contacts I am repeatedly messing up and now I’m really paying for it. I am so miserably sick and don’t seem to be getting better. The mess ups with gluten were frequent within the last ...
  14. I have tried to figure out the same about their Alfredo sauce because it has yeast extract as well. I haven’t had much luck figuring this one out. I like the jarred sauces but none are labeled gluten free but have no gluten containing ingredients that I see other than possibly the yeast extract. I eat the Alfredo sauce a lot
  15. Im still confused about the yeast extract that is listed in Bertolli alfredo. How do we know if yeast extract is safe?
  16. Are there jarred Alfredo sauces that are safe to eat, Like Ragu or Bertolli?
  17. Is yeast extract gluten free? I see it in a lot of jarred Alfredo sauces and they are not labeled gluten free but only say contain milk and eggs in the allergen list
  18. Can we only eat things that are marked gluten free or certified Gluten free? For example I use old El Paso mild taco seasoning mix… it does not say gluten free but I don’t see any ingredients that contain gluten. I have a gluten food scanner app that scans barcodes and says if it’s gluten free as well. Not sure if anyone else uses these scanning apps or if...
  19. Thank you for this information
  20. I got misinformed in the beginning of my journey and even with positive TTG-IGA antibodies in my blood I was not sent to gastro for further work up or biopsy, I was just told to go gluten free bc I had intolerance to gluten but no way did I have celiac. Many years later I took myself to the gastro doc , I still have positive antibodies but lower than before...
  21. Generally speaking I am assuming copper levels are deficient in celiac disease… But can it cause high copper levels?
  22. So do you eat gluten free replacement foods? My stomach just can’t seem to tolerate all the veggies and sugar free coffee creamers and sugar free replacements etc. eggs are hard on my stomach as is salad and things like that. I don’t think my intestines have healed .. I thought about baby food. I just don’t know anymore. I don’t even know what to eat for...
  23. I have been insulin resistant for many years. All of the sudden my insulin resistance has become terribly bad and I’m dealing with diabetes that I cannot control. I think eating gluten free replacement foods has contributed to this based on blood sugar measurements after consuming them, so I have basically backed off all breads, crackers, frozen foods etc. ...
