ARCHIVED Parents With Intolerance
Juliebove replied to w8in4dave's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
My parents drive me nuts! They tell me that I was allergic to any and all milk as a baby and yet I was forced to drink milk with almost every meal. They only stopped making me drink it after a Dr. suggested that it might be causing my acne. My face didn't clear up. It did get better. And my stomach got a bit better. Prior I had constant tummy trouble... -
ARCHIVED Gastroparesis...so They Say.
Juliebove replied to stacyrubel's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
I have gastroparesis. I do not have celiac or even wheat or gluten issues. But... I do have mulitple food intolerances and if I eat eggs, dairy or some other things, I can get the big D. I don't usually have headaches but I do occasionally have lethargy. When my gastroparesis is the worst, I will usually just start to feel off. My stomach won't necessarily... -
ARCHIVED Sick, Shocked And Scared
Juliebove replied to biancad's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Are you on any medications? I just read about something last night but can't remember what it is called. It's a very rare side effect that can happen with some medications and most Drs. are clueless about it. It can cause swelling in any part of the body. But when it causes swelling inside of you such as your lungs, stomach or various organs, it can cause...- 18 replies

ARCHIVED Favorite gluten-free Cracker?
Juliebove replied to Rosiesallergies's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Scharr. Taste just like Ritz. Only problem is that they crumble easily. I also had a recipe to make crackers and they had a little grated onion in them. Sorry, I don't think I have that cookbook any more But they were really good! -
ARCHIVED How Do You Deal With The "haters"?
Juliebove replied to Glittersmith's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I haven't gotten exactly that but I have had people say that they don't want to know about our food issues. But the thought has also crossed my mind that if I had a restaurant, I would be afraid to serve anyone with life threatening food issues lest they actually die, or get really sick and have to go to the hospital then blame me for it later. And I may... -
ARCHIVED Progressive Food Intolerance. What's Going On?
Juliebove replied to llabrword's topic in Food Intolerance & Leaky Gut
The cause could be as simple as that you have food intolerances. And when you do, the list can keep growing. You may also outgrow some of these. But they could just as easily come back. -
I know the feeling. Gluten isn't even an issue for me but I can't have eggs, dairy, some nuts, some herbs and spices and other foods. Add in diabetes on top of that. So when we do get a gift basket there is usually nothing at all in there that I can eat. For that reason, when I do send food to people, I try to send more simple things. Meat, cheese, fruits...

Yes. That is what I meant by coily. And I did find the dimmable ones after I bought the others. I just didn't realize that they couldn't be used that way. I know have enough pink incandescent ones to last in my dining room for at least the next 3-4 years. I have tried the LED. I can't remember if they said for outdoors or not. But it has been super...

I am hoping that someone here will be familiar with the type of exterior light fixtures that I have and can tell me what kind of bulbs to put in them. When we bought this house, there were a variety of bulbs in them. Regular incandscent, Halogen, even a coiled bulb. And none of them (I think) meant for exterior use. I searched and searched and can...

My husband has both of these things. I think I saw on his VA disability papers that it was rheumatoid. And I think (but am not sure) that gout is a form of arthritis. He is driving the family nuts with this and probably the Drs. He keeps going from Dr. to Dr. and even sometimes hospitals complaining of pain. Whatever meds they are prescribing are not...

Leaky Gut And Joint Popping/pain
Juliebove replied to spirit-walk's topic in Food Intolerance & Leaky Gut
Daughter and I both have some popping joints. For me it's mostly the knees and the neck. I did have whiplash many years ago and have had trouble with my neck ever since. Have had knee trouble from age 12. Knees will subloxate or pop in and out. Very painful when that happens. Have had far less trouble since I began wearing compression hose. Daughter... -
ARCHIVED How To Identify Another Intolerance After Six Weeks Gluten Free?
Juliebove replied to KCG91's topic in Food Intolerance & Leaky Gut
In my case, an elimination diet likely wouldn't have helped. I have issues with sooo many things! I only figured out eggs on my own after totally eliminating them when daughter was diagnosed with have an IgG allergy/intolerance to them. Then one day I got salad bar and took some egg salad. Got sick something like 16 hours later. Did not know why. Ate... -
ARCHIVED Sleepaway Camp
Juliebove replied to africanqueen99's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
My daughter went to a camp with school. They said they could accomodate her diet. And while she didn't get sick there, she certainly did come home very hungy! And she ate far more apples than she cared to remember. The problems? The other kids got snacks. She didn't. And they wouldn't even allow me to send food for her. The other kids made S'Mores... -
ARCHIVED Any Vegetarians That Had To Return To Eating Meat Post Diagnosis?
Juliebove replied to BelleVie's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Gluten is not my issue but I was a vegetarian for many years. I did eat eggs and cheese until I found out what a problem they really were for me. Then tried a raw vegan diet but due to gastroparesis, I don't digest a lot of fruits, vegetables or fats either. So... I did add beef back in and occasionally turkey. Can not have lamb, chicken, fish or shellfish... -
It's possible to have a rice intolerance. Daughter has intolerances to quinoa and flax. Those aren't her symptoms though. Just tummy troubles.

If it makes you feel any better, I had a colonoscopy. I kept putting it off. Had heard horror stories about it and also didn't have a ride too and from. It turned out really not to be bad at all. I was especially concerned about the prep. I would advise getting some Depends or store brand similar, just in case. I didn't quite make it in time to the...

ARCHIVED Suddenly Intolerant Of Dairy?
Juliebove replied to Missy1306's topic in Food Intolerance & Leaky Gut
Not strange at all. Intolerances come and go. Daughter outgrew dairy. Then I did but the Dr. told me never to eat it based on my severe reaction to it. Did I listen? No. I was jealous of daughter being able to eat cheese. I ate some. Nothing bad happened. I ate it again and again. And then there was the big D but I was in denial for several weeks... -

ARCHIVED Ridiculous Conversations
Juliebove replied to Auntie-Manda's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Health food store owner who is also a celiac told daughter that she could have sprouted grains because once sprouted they turned into a live food. Yep! They did. And they made her just as sick as the dead grain did. Sheesh. I should have known better on that one but she said it so brightly and assured us that she could eat whatever it was. Can't remember... -

My daughter had all of those intolerances and more. There is plenty to eat. Can use coconut oil instead of butter. Can pop pocorn in it. Can eat sunseed butter on a rice cake, rice crackers, corn tortilla, gluten-free bread, etc. There are all kinds of fruit. Meat. Now there is great dairy free and soy free cheeses. Juliebove replied to Waitingindreams's topic in Food Intolerance & Leaky Gut
Quinoa is high in carbs too. Seriously if you want to go on a no sugar type diet, you must avoid all carbs, always.
