  1. I see a Diane Cicci Morgan. Is that you? Otherwise you can add me. It's under Julia Deanne Bove.
  2. Ohhhhhhhhh. Okay. Somebody did try to explain that to me but they didn't do a very good job of it. Thanks!
  3. I have! The stuff I've made has gone moldy and I've seen plenty of Ener-G that has gone moldy. If it's one day beyond the expiration date it goes all green. And I have bought some that apparently had a bad seal because it went bad right away.
  4. The Netbook is now broken. Seeing about getting it repaired is another thing we can do. The computer store around the corner doesn't do screen repairs. We will have to go into Seattle for that. Not sure if it is worth getting it repaired or not. If it doesn't cost too much I will pay for it. Then we will have a spare. Meanwhile she bought a laptop...
  5. We bought these a few weeks ago at Whole Foods. They were unrefrigerated/unfrozen and had a sticker on them that said 6/16. I would assume they would be good until then. A few days after I bought them, they were moldy! So I had to throw them out. Every other place that sells them, sells them frozen. Are these supposed to be kept frozen?
  6. One year I chose to be the person in charge for the parties. I foolishly assumed that would allow me to choose the treats. Oh. Wrong! The teacher decided that the kids were old enough to choose. And what did they choose? Pizza, cookies, ice cream floats. All the stuff my daughter couldn't have! The teacher herself was a diabetic and there was a girl...
  7. I really think I used to cook *more* in the old days. I used to make my own bread and pasta. I made huge stacks of pancakes to freeze. I made big batches of hominy croquettes rolled in bread crumbs and froze them for later. I made all sorts of things that we can't eat now. I did try the gluten-free baking. But since I can't use dairy or eggs, things...
  8. I keep plenty of batteries and water. Several flashlights and a battery operated radio. We can live off of canned food if we have to. And we have. I was in NY when we had that massive power outage. It was summer and it was hot. The heat made us not want to eat much. I had just stocked the fridge and I had just bought things that I could serve straight...
  9. Yeah. That's what I'm thinking. I did say if it was hot she would be doing her homework at the library. I did look online. They do have a teen game night but it's while school is still on. They might have another one later. They do have computers but oddly you have to reserve them online!
  10. Purrfect Pals is the shelter. She can not volunteer until she is 13 but... They want specific things and those are not things she can do. Like cleaning out the litter boxes, feeding and playing with. Plus I would have to accompany her. At any rate, the rooms that the cats are in are hot! We have visited during the summer and I can't take it in there...
  11. She does sing really well but has no interest in doing it. Neither does she have any interest in any sort of arts or crafts. It doesn't help that her elementary school teachers said she was no good at art. That really stuck with her and now she is unwilling to try. That kind of annoyed me when they said that. I thought her drawings were good. They said...
  12. Bothell. That would be too far away. Just found out today that one of her friends is going to Uganda for the summer. Gah! The tutor told her she could come over and play board games at her house with another girl who goes there. She doesn't want to do that.
  13. Her dad lives in CA. He comes home every few weeks. I do not want her visiting him there because he will go out of his way to feed her wheat. He does not believe in food allergies. My parents live nearby. She sees them weekly. Doesn't really like to stay with them because they can never remember what she is allergic to and my mom will try to insist...
  14. She can't do much walking so going places where walking must be done is out of the question. As for the library, that sounds like stuff intended for kids and not teens. She absolutely HATES reading so that is not something I would make her do. She knows how to play poker. Her dad is a gambler. That is not something she could do with me. I am anti...
  15. We will check but she isn't really into DVDs or music.
  16. 60 to 70 is perfect to me. I am still okay if it dips down to say...50. I just put on a jacket. I hate heat and I hate cold.
  17. Alas she hates to cook. She doesn't usually like to do her nails although she does like the new Sally Hansen stick on nail polish. But on her one application lasts at least two weeks. I wish it were that way for me. She doesn't fix her own hair and won't even try. We were just discussing her hair tonight. She needs to have her highlights touched up...
  18. I will check with the library. AFAIK the only thing the parks department has are day camp type things and they are quite active. We did go to some plays/shows one summer at one park, but... I think that would involve too much walking for her now just to get to the part of the park where we would need to go. Really it is difficult for her just to walk...
  19. Kumon is pretty expensive and if they are not going to help her and only confuse her further, I don't think I want to do that. She does have learning disabilities. Her tutor seems to think they will only do harm and no good. The special ed teacher at her elementary school (she is now in Jr. High) said that having her do the same thing over and over again...
  20. She will have worksheets from her tutor. The tutor is going through cancer treatments and is taking the summer off. I have already spoken to her math teacher and there are things online that she can do. Sadly she just now broke her netbook. It's the screen that is broken. I don't know if it can be fixed or not. And I can't afford to get her a new one...
  21. No. They have to go in the window or at least be vented to the outside. We live in a high crime area and there is no way I would leave a window open again. That's how we got robbed the first time. We are on the ground floor only. And there is no ductwork so we can't get the whole house kind.
  22. So... My daughter's summer plans have been shot. She had back pain back in March and we just found out yesterday that she now has something just short of a stress fracture in her back. Long story. Series of Drs. and finally an MRI and CAT scan. She also had numbness at the top of one foot that turns out not to be related. Still might have another appointment...
  23. I had some leftover plain white rice and a little cottage cheese.
