  1. looks like DH, blisters and then the red rash. Afterwards they tend to leave scars.
  2. Latest news is that with children, they only need two positive Ttg test that are high, plus symptoms and relief of symptoms on a gluten free diet, to get a diagnosis. But not so yet with adults. They still need the biopsy. Be sure they take lots of samples, not just two or so. Here in Europe, we really recommend getting the biopsy. They also look...
  3. Sometimes we see that only the IgG versions of these tests are positive. The deamidated gliadin Ab IgG is for example more specific for celiac than the IgA version. But I know the routine is to only test the IgG version if the total IgA is low.....
  4. erythema means red Did they count the intreepitelial lymphocytes? THey are supposed to count them
  5. They have done trials several places in the world for several years now, and the Haukeland hospital in Bergen in Norway is already using this test. Here is a newish article about the T cells and the three day challenge, but the articles on the T cells and the three day challenge have been appearing for several years already Open Original Shared Link
  6. DQ5 and DQ7! Not 3,1 or 7,5, this is old lingo. Nowadays they use the , for the alpha chain. Beta cchain the first number, then comma, then the alpha chain. Like 2,5 means DQ2 with a 0501 alpha chain and 0201 beta chain. I see it looks like Enterolab test results, especially the interpretation. Now in mainstream medicine, neither DQ5 nor DQ7 are...
  7. I have seen some recommendations for 0,3 grams of gluten per kg per day, and one for 0,5 grams gluten per kg per day. You will have to read on the package and do some maths and maybe weigh the bread or pasta Note that it may take longer than six weeks before antibodies show! Do not let them tell you after six weeks that if the blood test is negative...
  8. now what does this mean, it is about gluten and DQ2,2 Open Original Shared Link There have been some DQ2,2 people posting here over the years, some diagnosed
  9. I found the new DQ9 pubmed abstract Open Original Shared Link "Hum Immunol. 2012 Apr;73(4):376-81. Epub 2012 Jan 31. Evidence that HLA-DQ9 confers risk to celiac disease by presence of DQ9-restricted gluten-specific T cells. Bodd M, Tollefsen S, Bergseng E, Lundin KE, Sollid LM. Source Centre for Immune Regulation and Department of Immunology, Oslo...
  10. yes, sometimes we react, sometimes not. I think it might have something to do with the freshly activated T cells, meaning that when you are gluten free, and eat some gluten, the body makes something called freshly activated T cells. Only celiacs make them. They ahve devised this new test for celiac based on that, even. Now the next day or so there are...
  11. Michael, there are some abstracts on pubmed about the japanese celiacs usually having DQ9, but that is because the japanese have so many DQ9. Of course you know that DQ9 and DQ7 differ from DQ8 by just one or two tiny things, base pairs or whatever.
  12. I see they did the other celiac tests, and they were negative. But the high ttg IgA test is really high so it does look like celiac
  13. Normal TSH is very close to 1, and most normal people have aTSH of around 0,6-1,5 or so.
  14. I think very high ttg numbers are supposed to be celiac, but others can have lowish ttg numbers for other reasons. Can you get the more specific deamidated gliadin tests, both the IgA and IgG versions? Those are more specific for celiac than the ttg test as far as I know Most celiacs diagnosed nowadays are over-weight, only 5% are under-weight
  15. This was a very good doctor, and a good report, they diagnosed you with celiac with increased numbers of IEL. This is more and more common nowadays. Obviously they did both an endoscopy and a colonoscopy. With me, I never got a report, and they sure did not count my IEL
  16. oh good you knew about it and could tell him! Must be some attraction...
  17. if you scroll down a little bit here on this link, there is an explanation about increased IEL
  18. there was an article last year about why there were half as many diagnosed on one coast of the U.S. compared to the other, I mean with the same number of endoscopies. Turned out that on one side they took only two samples, and on the other coast they took four samples....and we know celiac typically is patchy.
  19. I have seen they call the new deamidated gliadin test for gliadin Ab. Now many have ditched the gliadin Ab test several years ago, and only tested the tissue transglutaminase test, at least here in Europe. But the last four years or so they have done the new deamidated gliadin here at the closest hospital, and have ditched the ttg test. They call...
  20. Yes that is low iron (probably ferritin) and low Hb, and it looks like you are onto something. Do you have the home tests in canada? We have them here in Europe. Ours only work if there is no IgA deficiency. And, it is possible to be celiac with negative tests. By any chance, are the gliadin Ab tests you listed the new deaminated gliadin tests? I...
  21. I too get lots of symptoms when getting little gluten but not much when provoking with cookie or much gluten. Have heard it is like that with others too. Ehen I had the gluten challenge, I then got the mouth blisters back, and migraines, then I had to double the thyroid meds and my weight started dropping off. I stayed tired or got worse (I was as tired...
  22. I canot have any forms of milk either, so I end up cooking everything from scratch, but I am used to that. The only thing that upsets me is reading celiac forums with people raving about this or that, and it contains milk and/or wheatstarch or glucose from wheat.
  23. high Ttg IgA and villous blunting and clinical response to the gluten free diet means celiac nowadays, but on the old days they demanded total villous atrophy. I know in the past patients have requested that the U of Maryland give a secnd opinion on their slides (as they diagnose celiac even with increased IEL´s )
  24. also, .yme is known to cause auditory halluzinations. And, people with lyme probably must stay gluten free until they are treated and well (that is if the gluten sensitivity is from lyme) maybe she inherited lyme disease.
  25. You will be just fine eating gluten-free in Europe. Especially Ireland, where celiac is rampant, and everybody knows about celiac, the same with Italy. And England should be just fine too. I was in Italy four days last week, and took no gluten-free eating card with me, and had no problems. I do not speak any italian either.
