ARCHIVED 3 Genes?
nora-n replied to beebs's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I have two DQ5 , I had to get tested by enterolab to get any answer. The first lab that tested me and reported negative gene tests, used a rapid test that only tells you the DQ2 or 8, of any are present. Enterolab sends the gene tests out, I think to the American Red Cross, and chose to only order the beta chains to conserve costs. Those of you earlier... -
ARCHIVED Does Sensitvity Increase With Time?
nora-n replied to Curlyqueen's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
yes, after going gluten free one gets something called freshly activated t cells from gluten exposure. they are even devising tests on that basis, since only celiacs make those freshly activated t cells. -
ARCHIVED Labs Question-Confused
nora-n replied to madiva87's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
sounds like the gliadin IgG (22 high ) is the Gliadin Ab IgG. positive, and the IgA is the total IgA which means the IgA type tests are not valid and one must look at the IgG type tests. Next time they must run the IgG type tests. -
ARCHIVED Prometheus Celiac Plus Test Results - Interpretation
nora-n replied to Ginger7's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Someone else mentioned hemangioma here recently, so I googled it, and there seems to be some connection to celiac and hemangioma. In some other postings somewhere else on the net someone mentions the hemangioma disappeared on a gluten free diet. I do not know if yours will. -
ARCHIVED Prometheus Celiac Plus Test Results - Interpretation
nora-n replied to Ginger7's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
you probably have one DQ2,2 and one DQ7,5 and those make up a DQ2,5 in trans at least 20% of celiacs with atrophy of the villi have negative blood tests so negative tests do not matter so much -
ARCHIVED Entrolabs Question
nora-n replied to joyjoy's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
the Enterolab tests were developed to find microscopic colitis caused by gluten, not celiac. But they can tell you if you are gluten sensitive without microscopic colitis too. They only test IgA type antibodies so if you have low total IgA the results will be low. Now the antibodies hang around a while, and the Enterolab tests are so sensitive that... -
ARCHIVED Labs Question-Confused
nora-n replied to madiva87's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
the glutensensitive test here is the gliadin IgG test. Was it by chance the new very specific demaidated gliadin Ab test? I have seen labs just call them gliadin Ab when it was the new test which has different implications. -
ARCHIVED Sons Bloodwork - Need Help Understanding
nora-n replied to spacemama's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
was this the new deaminated gliadin Ab? If the kid is on enough gluten, maybe push for the biopsy since the number was almost positive. If it was the new deaminated gliadin test, it is very specific for celiac. About age of child: Children below 3 years have less immune response so testing is not so accurate Celiac is just one litte bit of the... -
ARCHIVED Thyroid Test Results
nora-n replied to Booghead's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Please no radioactive testing, you are just ordinary hypothyroid. Also, maybe check Open Original Shared Link the hyper forum there: Open Original Shared Link but you are not hyperthyroid -
ARCHIVED Could This Be Celiac?
nora-n replied to Cher18's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
"the boils" could go away on a strict gluten free diet, since hidradenitis suppurativa does go away on a gluten-free diet and it might be HS. Lots of people do not have any diagnosis for their HS. -
ARCHIVED Thyroid Test Results
nora-n replied to Booghead's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
High TSH is hypothyroid, and a TSH of 0,00 is hyperthyroid but only if the ft4 and/or ft3 are above range. Some people have normal lowish TSH, with normal free -

ARCHIVED Help Me Decode Tests!
nora-n replied to 1974girl's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
the endomysium antibody test is extremely specific for celiac, and not influenced by diabetes. I would keep both off gluten with those genes and test results. They know of at least 9 genes for celiac, and therefore siblings and close family members have a very high risk for celiac. -
ARCHIVED Please Look At Test Results?
nora-n replied to noahs-mommom's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
The definite positive test here is the EMA test but there is something missing in the names of the other tests "IGG Negative at 4 IGA 69H (says positive) IgA and IgG are just some general immuneglobulins were the tests tissue transglutaminase IgG and tissue transglutaminase IgA? -
one reason you can react strongly to something (containing gluten) you did not react to initially, is freshly activated T cells. They are even devising a new celiac test based on this, where you have to be gluten free for one week only and then when you try gluten again, the body makes freshly activated T cells and only celiacs make those. This is just...

ARCHIVED Yet Another Doctor's Opinion
nora-n replied to researchmomma's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Did they run the ttg IgA or the ttg IgG? About the total IgA, which I guess you are asking about, I really do not know if that goes up and down, or up and down dependent on food intake. But a lowish total IgA (low but still within range) can skew the ttg IgA test, or any kind of IgA based test since those tests are dependent on IgA. Usually they... -

ARCHIVED New Laws In Uk = Stupid ?

Sweden also has gluten-free products on prescription, for children and young adults, and probably other countries have too, possibly spain. Other countries give money towards the increased cost. -

ARCHIVED New Laws In Uk = Stupid ?
nora-n replied to tennisman's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
It is not the uk government, it is the new EU law from January 2009, and January 2012 was the last date for implementation. The requirements for gluten free went down from 200ppm to below 20ppm (but now in the finished product) Which makes it possible for people who have a celiac home test for food, to test for 5ppm or 20ppm right where they are out... -

ARCHIVED Yet Another Doctor's Opinion
nora-n replied to researchmomma's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
If neuro issues are involved, like seizures, then most likely DQ1 is involved. DQ1 is DQ5 and DQ6. There have been some officially diagnoses DQ6 here. Neuro issues and gluten, and gluten ataxia: just google hadjivassiliou and you should find a numbers of articles, with mention of DQ1. probably googling gluten ataxia would bring a lot of info... -
ARCHIVED Is Hla-Dq 2.2 A Celiac Gene?
nora-n replied to alicewa's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
To a lesser degree, yes. There have been several people here with lots of symptoms and DQ2,2 en.wikipedia.org mentions DQ2,2 when discussing DQ2 and celiac, that it contributes to the risk for celiac to a lesser degree.
