ARCHIVED Need Advice
cajun celiac replied to confused's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
My advice would be to call the nurse and discuss it with her. She'll probably discuss it with the doctor. Surely this is not an uncommon question. You would hate to keep him gluten-free if they want gluten in his system and then have to wait even longer for the testing. Also, he does not have to be Celiac for a gluten free diet to be a positive thing... -
ARCHIVED Help With Daycare
cajun celiac replied to gfgypsyqueen's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
My advice would be to talk to the day care director. Perhaps get a letter or something from the doctor stating your child has celiac disease and ask the director to keep it in your child's file. Seeing a medical document may have some effect. If you explain the seriousness of celiac disease to the director ~ and compare it to an allergic reaction that... -

cajun celiac replied to Annie/NM's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
I was diagnosed in Jan and have been gluten-free since. I too am now gaining weight and I am very upset about it. I am anxious to see the responses... -

ARCHIVED Chanel
cajun celiac replied to mollyacampbell's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Why do we need to use gluten-free make-up? I understand lipstick. Please help, I'm still a newbie! -
ARCHIVED Blue Diamond Nut Thins
cajun celiac replied to wowzer's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I agree with you. Appears they would love to have Celiac's purchase their products but are not dedicated enough to truly cater to us. -
ARCHIVED A Question For Those Of You With Dairy/lactose Intolerance
cajun celiac replied to WakeupNurse's topic in Food Intolerance & Leaky Gut
I have always known I was a little lactose intolerant even before the Celiac disgnosis. My doc says it is possible that intolerances differ. Taking Lactaid has never helped me. If I have milk on an empty stomach I suffer, for instance having a bowl of cereal for breakfast. But cheese, milk, etc. with meals throughout the day doesn't bother me. Here... -
I have not visited PF Chang's since going gluten-free but I have visited Pei Wei numerous times. Both resturants are owned by the same people. I have never tried to order fried rice but I will say that the managers at Pei Wei are very knowledgable about gluten so I would assume the PF Chang's managers are trained as well. If you call the resturant and...

ARCHIVED Scared To Death Of A Biopsy/colonoscopy
cajun celiac replied to Cougar09's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I understand EXACTLY how you feel. My scopes were done 3 days after Christmas so I stressed over the holidays. I have no tolerance for pain whatsoever! But honestly, and I am truly being honest with you, it is no big deal. You will get an IV and that is the only thing you'll feel. The medication to make you sleep is given through the IV. Before you... -
ARCHIVED Godiva Chocolate?
cajun celiac replied to angel42's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I hate to be the one to tell you this but you cannot have any Godiva. Sorry! I have heard that See's are wonderful! (Hey, at least we can still have M&Ms. It would be inhuman to not be able to eat M&Ms). -
You guys are KILLING me! I want a pizza from Pizza Hut...real greasy with extra cheese and pepperoni...never again...

ARCHIVED "house" Humour Of The Day!
cajun celiac replied to Canadian Karen's topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
That was funny. Now I'll probably giggle every time I watch House and hear lupus. (That would be a fun drinking game.) Friday night I watched a rerun of House on USA and the patients (mother and newborn) had celiac. It was very disturbing. Also strange because celiac was discussed on The View that same day. Until my diagnosis a month ago I had never... -
ARCHIVED Weather
cajun celiac replied to AmandaD's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Why do we need to use gluten-fre body products? Gluten doesn't absorb through the skin does it? Is it just the risk of having it on your hands and therefore contaminating food? -
ARCHIVED Found New gluten-free Cereal Today!
cajun celiac replied to ptkds's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
I am so excited! I LOVE cereal and I am so tired of eating the same stuff over and over. And I totally love cereal with marshmellows. -
ARCHIVED Elizabeth Haselbeck Said She Has Celiac!
cajun celiac replied to TBOX's topic in Publications & Publicity
Thanks for posting the site! I love the way Rosie was taking it so serious. I sent the clip to everyone in my family so they'd see I'm not a hypochondriac. -
ARCHIVED Biopsy Results Are In!
cajun celiac replied to Electra's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I am happy that you have an answer. Even when a diagnosis is scary it is still better then the unknown. I had a biopsy done last month that was "suggestive" of Celiac. I had blood work done last week and it all came back normal. So I am truly confused. I see my gastro next week so hopefully she'll shed some light. If I do have it, I want it to come... -
Open Original Shared Link What is this "twenty parts per million gluten" crap?!?! A single fruit loop can send me straight to the porcelain throne for crying out loud! Gluten is gluten no matter what the size is, as far as my intestines are concerned.

ARCHIVED Help! Which Testing Option Is Most Accurate?
cajun celiac replied to almostnrn's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I would definitely start with the bloodwork, but make sure you have the FULL Celiac panel run, not just the IgG and IgA (as many doctors only run). Laura- What are the other blood tests? I had a biospy done last month and it came back suggestive of celiac so I've been eating gluten free since then and my symptons have gotten better but not completely... -
ARCHIVED Resturant Refused To Tell Me Ingredients!
cajun celiac replied to cajun celiac's topic in Gluten-Free Restaurants
Thanks everyone. I have decided I'll send a letter to the owner expressing my disappointment in his employees...I'll mention the number of times we've attended their resturant in the past and mention that 2 years ago I used them to cater a party. They will miss me as a faithful customer. I'll also throw in Richard's "it's just good business" comment. ... -
ARCHIVED Resturant Refused To Tell Me Ingredients!
cajun celiac posted a topic in Gluten-Free Restaurants
I've only been gluten-free for about 3 weeks so a lot of this is very new to me. We normally go out to eat on Sundays after church with friends, kind of like a tradition. Yesterday we went to a BBQ place and I ordered a baked potato with chopped beef. Before they added the sauce I asked what the ingredients are because I have a serious food allergy. She... -
ARCHIVED My Award Winning Chili Is gluten-free!
cajun celiac posted a topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
I have my own chili recipe that is absolutely awesome! I won a chili contest 3 years ago with it. As I am new to eating gluten free, I was researching all of my ingredients and am so happy to know that I can still eat my chili! I thought it would be nice to share the recipe. And just so you know, I have had people ask for years for this recipe and I refused... -
ARCHIVED Frustrated By Friend Who's Dh Is Supposedly Celiac!vent!
cajun celiac replied to LyndaCanada's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
I am too irritated to say what I really think about your friend. I was just diagnosed this month and am currently working through explaining my new diet and the seriousness of it to my friends and family. While most are supportive (and usually have the look of "I am so glad it's you and not me") there are always those few who seem to know more then I do... -
ARCHIVED This Is Kind Of Gross...
cajun celiac replied to chocolatelover's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
My diarrhea happens within the hour. It is sudden and mine is not as painful as described by others. You know what is funny, a year ago I would never have discussed diarrhea with strangers and now my potty issues are an open book! -
ARCHIVED Second Opinion?!
cajun celiac replied to cajun celiac's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Thank you to everyone that has responded. I've been on this site so much lately and it has been wonderful. I had an endoscope done with a biopsy and that came back suggestive of Celiac. I have done bloodwork since and am going gluten-free...I meet with my gastro in 3 weeks for a follow up. Unfortunately, only two days after being gluten-free I had a normal... -
ARCHIVED Second Opinion?!
cajun celiac posted a topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I was diagnosed by a gastro last week. I had never heard of Celiac and did not ask too many questions. Of course, now that I have done my homework, I am a total wreck. Should I get a second opinion? It is such a huge lifestyle change. Should I maybe have a different doctor review the labwork? Am I just desperate...?
