  1. Andreagrant Are you familiar with JIRP. FGER? 1984 & 1991 Bob
  2. Well, for this guy at least: "There's nothing I can do, I recommend that you see a psychiatrist". That is when I stopped working with the traditional medical community (for about 6-7 years). The next step was a food diary and trial & error. That has kind of worked for the past 7 years, but something is still going on, the fatigue, as described previously...
  3. Yes he did biopsies. The nearest I can figure is he did 5 biopsies, but the reports don't say much. Have had Entro & Geneva blood tests. 10+ years ago - I was reacting to everything, this past spring, it was only Clams, Asparagus, Alfalfa and three other "very low" food reactions. The sleep problems have been around a lot longer than the shoulder...
  4. And.... It was the second to last glass that really gagged me - that was not a pretty evening. Bob
  5. I just got the results of my Endo/Colon. I don't remember anything from the actual procedure - good drugs. OK here it is: Duodenum: No diagnostic abnormality Stomach, antrum: Moderate chronic gastritis with focal activity. No definitive Helicobacter-like organism are identified on Diff Quick stain. Negative for dysplasia or malignancy. Gastroesophageal...
  6. Try making crepes. Kids love them and they are easy to make. 2 eggs 1 Tblsp Sugar 1/4 Cup Flour (I've used White Rice, gluten-free mix, Sorghum & Corn Starch) 1 Cup Milk (I use my Almond Milk as I don't do dairy) I also add a bit of vanilla, cook the kids in butter and cook mine in olive oil. I bet coconut oil would work really well too. ...
  7. That sounds a lot like me. My gluten-free has finally started serving me smaller portions of vegi's. I was able to eat half a honeydew mellon the other day with no dire affects. Bob
  8. For me: I lost 28 lbs in 6 months - before changing anything. Once I went gluten-free my weight loss stopped. I put on about 3 lbs and have remained at that weight for 5+years now. Bob
  9. I just figured out the Avatar stuff too - that's me. TENS = Transcutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulator, or electric current to mask the pain sensors. It's a $39 machine, but the pads are expensive. For now, I can actually sit at the computer and/or drive without too much pain sensation it's only a short term mask and way better than taking more drugs....
  10. Go early and bring your own bottle of Tamari. I've had really good luck with that. Naked Fish up here in South Lake Tahoe is very good ($$$'s though). There is a Japanese restaurant in Carpenteria that has excellent sushi, inexpensive. Bob
  11. I'm surviving right now with the TENS machine, Requip, Halcion & Ambien. Just waiting about a week for GI & MRI results, then I'll move on to the next step, whatever that might be. At least the scopes showed that my insides "look" good for 45. My buddy of 20+ years and I were talking the other day - we figured I'm at about 70% (maybe) of what the...
  12. Why take bread to Canada? Their bread is way better than what we get in USA. I actually go to Canada to get bread. There is a gluten-free Bakery in Vancouver and there is Kinnikinnik somewhere on the left side of the Canada. Bob
  13. Thank you Carla, I've been having a hard time keeping up with all of you on the OMG thread, but I've learned a ton of things and feel like I know all you. So, I'm at 30 of the symptoms previously listed. Currently waiting for lab results from Endo/Colon. Preliminary results are minor Reflux 39-40cm down. I'm also going in for an MRI on my shoulder Saturday...
  14. Well, I get to start my prep. at noon and go in for a scope on both end tomorrow also. I however am not too comfortable with the GI doc, as they screwed up my initial interview and now medical record. They had no idea they were doing a colonoscopy until I called them this morning to verify and I've got a strange feeling the diagnosis will by Chron's no matter...
  15. Jello jigglers and cool whip. I know we went through the same issues and more than once had little devils return home, rather than the little angels we usually have - when they stay on their gluten/dairy free diets. The simple little birthday party turns into a 2-3 day long event, just like sleep overs. I'm not sure there is much else you can do, but...
  16. For Rachel and the rest of you (guess I'll get no visits from you all ) Anyway, this was in the Tahoe Daily Tribune on the 15th. Bob "The Lake Tahoe Basin may not be home to as many ticks as other regions of California and Nevada, but tick-borne relapsing fever, a rare bacterial infection, has made its presence known around the basin in past years...
  17. The Gasto PA: do some blood work first, then we'll look at an endoscopy & probably a colonoscopy since I'll be down for the count anyway. At 45 it's a little early, but it will set a baseline and help rule out other possibilities (because I'm secretely not a celiac - per the Gasto's view). My view: dad is biopsy proven, kids are healthy on gluten-free...
  18. I'd guess it's just a screening tomorrow. I'll let the thread know how it goes. Bob
  19. OH, that's me 7 years ago. The weight loss was very painful. I ended up dropping "all the favorite foods", so take eggs, chocolate and coffee out, probably drop soy too. That stabilized me, but didn't improve me much. The next improvement came when I started drinking aloe juice first thing in the morning 6oz. I've been doing that for 3+ years now. I'm not...
  20. I'll be keeping up with this thread. The Gastro just called and can fit me in tomorrow, rather than a month from now. 7 years gluten-free, DF. 3yrs Egg/Nightshade free and still digestive, body pain, insomnia and occasional brain fog and pretty much zero stamina, compared to the old me. Bob
  21. Nightshades: Tomato, potato, peppers - all, eggplant and I think there are a few others Not Nightshades: Yam, Sweet Potato, pepper-corns Bob
  22. Lots of good information here. Based on my household (3 generations gluten-free), it's gluten-free 100%, period. Next, slight cheating "won't kill you" -WRONG. Damage is damage at a certain point there will be enough damage to cause all sorts of other things. On the Chron's - gluten-free diet helps, and also I have a friend with a 22 YO Chron's child - it...
  23. I've been gluten-free for 7 years, DF-6.5, Egg free, nightshade free and I still have way more pain than I thinks someone my age/condition should have. I'm working on things with the medical community right now, after a 10 year hiatus from prescribed fog from the meds. I'm currently weaning off Neurotin - another one that doesn't work for me. We'll see what...
  24. I've had two pharmasist verify (well at least check, and tell me) that Ambien is gluten-free. Bob
  25. I've come to believe that they spawn from the interior of BC to everywhere else in the Americas. As fro Victoria - Rusia, move there and then marry and import me . I want to live in Duncan. Bob
