  1. This is kind of an oxymoron (not trying to be rude, it is the only word I can think of!). It's not possible to have celiac without intestinal damage. You can have celiac without gastrointestinal SYMPTOMS, but there's still going to be damage. My confusion was with the idea that Celiac can be ruled out completely. I thought it was understood that Celiac...
  2. Lately I've been reading a lot of posts stating that people absolutely, one hundred percent, do not have Celiac. They have non-celiac gluten intolerance. They know this because they've been tested for celiac in every way possible, all of which came up negative, but they feel better with no gluten. There is no set of symptoms specific to celiac vs non-celiac...
  3. I'm sorry that your family is making this so hard for you. I think you may be able to at least get them to recognize that you have a problem. Next time someone glutens you, don't go hide. Stay in the kitchen, living room, wherever the poeple are. Let the reaction come, let them see they are hurting you. Also, at some point, you are going to have to be...
  4. Well, think of it this way. Yogurt is simply a dairy product with probiotic bacteria ADDED to it. So what's in the yogurt is exactly the same thing as what would come in a powder or capsule supplement. Except that any commercial yogurt you find likely has been pasteurized, homogenized, had at least half the fat removed, and had a pile of either processed...
  5. Basically, you will come to a point every day where you decide whether it's more important to you to be healthy than to eat the food in front of you. I personally became so incredibly ill that I will never consider eating gluten again. I'm 100% non-functional on gluten. So I don't get a choice. But aside from that, I am 95% sure that I got Celiac from my...
  6. Last I checked, a Catholic getting divorced was only a controversial subject to Catholics...... Therefore I have no strong opinions and was kinda hoping for something we could all get in a nice, stimulating argument about! Like what brand of laptop to buy! Or whether Lady Gaga was born a man!
  7. So should I not mention that's my favorite kind of .... dancing?
  8. You deserve the whole bottle, baby!
  9. Just so I'm clear, is the above paragraph quoting your doctor or various internet sources? My advice would be to take the thyroid med in the morning before food if that's what the doctor told you to do. Otherwise, I take pills before I eat dinner. Dinner is typically the biggest meal, so will prevent upset, and I can't take pills in the morning or I gag...
  10. That can't be true. There has to be a law against doing that to your children.
  11. I just feel sorry for the Granndma that had to go to the doctor to get her boobs played with!
  12. I'm feeling rebellious. Every time I've come on this site for years that frikkin list of crap not to talk about has been TAUNTING me. Can we talk about WMD's? Euthanasia? Gay marriage? Mitt Romney? Lady Gaga? SOMETHING?!?!!?
  13. AF? And it isn't nice that the trying is such a pleasant activity???
  14. Well, the first thing I notice when I Google low salicylate diets (which I have no experience with) is that maple syrup and cocoa are low salicylate. I make hot chocolate from milk, cocoa, and maple syrup and I love it. Maybe when you've figured out the rice milk thing you can try that? Also, cashews and hazelnuts are listed as being 'low' salicylate. So...
  15. Ok, what is determining this list? Were you tested for food intolerances or are these the only things you have so far succesfully reintroduced on an elimination diet? And when you say limited herbs and spices, do you mean only certain ones or just a little bit of any one?
  16. A lot of peoples families react this way at first. They make you feel guilty for not eating their food even though there's no way for them to make food safe for you. Repetition and perseverance are the answer. If someone says to you that their feelings are hurt by your not eating their food, respond that your feelings are hurt by them trying to poison you...
  17. Figment, this is totally normal. I'm five years in and still finding things out about how my body works. Having one or two days a week with potty problems and otherwise feeling great is AMAZING. You are doing remarkably well. Most people take a lot longer to get to where you are. There is a small chance you are either still being contaminated by gluten or...
  18. Dani, can you give me your no-no list? I will think of something interesting to eat, that I can promise you!
  19. I think the craziest thing I've heard about gluten from an uninitiated person was my supervisor yelled at me for eating potato chips. She thought potatos had gluten. I said thank you for caring, but were you not listening the first four times you asked me to explain my crazy food?
  20. Not to pry, but how crazy is your monkey dance gettin?!?!? Strategically placed pillows is all I'll say, strategically placed pillows....
  21. Anything's possible! Keep in mind, though, 3-4 months on schedule doesn't mean much when it comes to your cycle. I've had mine be 100% predictable for six months and then go completely sideways for no reason. Hope you get a little pink plus in a week!
  22. This is SO FUNNY to me, because I'm not skinny anymore, but slender. Except for my butt. The guys sure like a big butt!!!
  23. Besides, being tan doesn't preclude red hair. It's called Clairol.
