  1. Time for a beatdown, idn't it?
  2. My recommendation- check out elana's pantry. It's a gluten free blog written by a woman who first went gluten free, then started to kick sugar and dairy, and is now paleo. It's a very reliable source for info, and recipes. And yes, almond flour and coocnut flour are 'ok' on a paleo diet, I don't think starches are, but don't take my word for it. Check out...
  3. You're in trouble.
  4. Well there's your problem! Broccoli is super gas city!
  5. My favorite is Green's, the amber and the dubbel dark, I find the dubbel dark a bit sweet but still very good.
  6. Actually, many states have laws against bringing outside food into a restaurant in order to protect patrons. In this case, a restaurant being cautious isn't something I would get mad about. It's the law. It's frustrating, but it is a legal issue in many places. It says right on the gluten-free menu at Outback that "In states where it is permitted by law,...
  7. Looks EXACTLY like my DH rash when I get glutened.
  8. I keep up with the mouthy hosuewives blog because they're funny and the gluten free girl because I want the chef to marry me! No, I just love the gluten free girl. I also keep up with a few friends blogs, one of which is for a friend who was paralyzed in an accident. So I guess I'm not much of a blog follower?
  9. Bartfull- a truly effective replacement for xanthan gum is chia seeds. Whirl a tablespoon in a blender to replace the xanthan gum in a recipe for a load of bread. You would use less in a smaller recipe. I think it works better if you soak it with an equivalent amount of water first to make a gel, but am not sure, more internets research necessary....
  10. Try the rectangle Glutino crackers. They have soy flour in them, don't know if that's a problem, but they are light and crispy and delicious. MY local HFS carries them, but I haven't seen them at Whole paycheck, so you might have to order online.
  11. YAy!!! Way to go, you!
  12. You know what Ener-g bread is really good for? Stuffing, for thanksgiving. It holds shape really well and has no flavor, so it just soaks up whatever you add to it! Only time I buy it.
  13. HAHAHAHAAH!!!! They already heard our thoughts!!! They all got deleted!
  14. I'm in CT, Peter! Be happy to take you both to my favorite places!
  15. I wish I was close enough! Thanks for posting...
  16. That reminds me of a coworker I had who complained all the time. He would use that old saying, the squeaky wheel always gets the grease? I got sick of it one day and told him that sometimes the squeaky wheel gets rePLACED. He got fired a week later...
  17. I have a few eating problems, so I can identify with you. My body is now rather sensitive to a lot of things, sugar being chief amongst them. Half a chocolate bar (and I mean low sugar dark chocolate!) and I feel like hell all the next day. This is frustrating for the girl who was on the toaster strudel/fried chicken diet before gluten-free. So what I...
  18. I told my mother to start eating organic butter, cream, coconut products, and organic red meats that are not lean cuts. Like you, she was mostly eating only vegetables an chicken, lean meats. She dropped 20 lbs in 6 months doing this, with no increase in activity. What happens is, vitamins A, D, E, and K are fat soluble. If you are not eating enough fat...
  19. I personally dislike grocery store signs that say gluten free for this very reason. The signs that come from the store are put there by some low level manager who probably doesn't understand Celiac, for one thing. And having worked for years in a grocery store, I know that customers tend to be completely uncaring in their behavior and leave products strewn...
  20. You're in the right spot! My fave is blueberry-banana. I never measure, but a banana, hndful of frozen blueberries, scoop of yogurt, and about half a cup of milk. In your case, I would try using coconut milk. Actully, try peeling the banana and breaking it up inside a baggie, then put it in the freezer the night before. The frozen blueberry and banana with...
  21. Second that!
  22. Guys, this was posted in the 'anything but' section. It says 'unrelated to celiac concerns' right on the label. Perhaps Scott should relabel it as the 'just for fun' section?
  23. Yeah, who says? That's like saying you can't have ice cream for dessert because you're full from dinner. Say some vampires like little lo mein now and then to finish a 'meal'?
