When people tell me they would just DIE without their bread, I tell them I would just die WITH their bread. Oh, and my favorite, "I wouldn't have any willpower, I would have to just suffer." Well, I guess you've never actually suffered, have you? No, childbirth doesn't count. Childbirth ENDS. -

Huh. Looks like I'm having pizza tonight.... For the Chebe dogs- I like Trader Joe's natural beef hot dogs. When wrapping the dough around the dog (also better when the dough is made with mozz, softer) I break the dough into thirds and only use two thirds of the batch to wrap around the dogs (eight dogs). If you use the whole thing then you have to... -
That's super cool. Our family does this to each other all the time. My mother calls me from the grocery store to ask whether an amazon price is better, I call her to look up whether something is gluten free, my boyfriend calls either of us while he's at work because he found a Jamaican 100$ bill and wants to know what it's worth.... We all think it's pretty...

I love that pesto pizza. I discovered it when I was unable to eat tomatos for a year (travesty!) and fell in love with it. I put onion and sausage on top of it. The tomato sauce one is ok but just tastes like any regular pizza. That pesto one is just outstanding. I plan on trying to replicate it with chebe. Oh, I love Chebe..... Speaking of which, dinner... -

Do you have a Whole Foods near you? I like to get the 'fat free' organic jarred pasta sauce, Whole Foods brand, because it has tomatoes and spices. That's it. Should be corn free, has no oil, citric acid or vinegar. It is a 'shared facility' product, but not shared equipment. Also, you can get dry mustard spice to flavor things with. Could try that with... -

I had leftover chebe with leftover artichoke dip for dinner last night. Artichoke dip was a little too heavy on the artichoke, wound up eating the 'dip' around the big chunks. Still learnin! Oh, and fresh cantaloupe. Really good one, too. BTW, for those who can have it, the cheesy chebe, when made with shredded mozz, garlic powder, and left covered in... -

You missed one! Honey mustard. Just mix equal parts honey and mustard (it doesn't work if you just squirt them on the chicken, I've tried) and add garlic powder and pepper as you like. I like to cut the chicken breast lengthwise into thirds to make the pieces smaller, less time in the oven=juicier chicken. Also, salsa chicken! Salsa+chicken... -

Yeah,he's got the facial structure of a little dog. He's too cute. Does he also think he's a little dog and jump in your lap? -
Someone was watching Gone in 60 seconds too many times. I'm late to the party, but I can give the dancing lessons! And you have to let me come, I've never actually had tiramisu..... (should've put an alert before the previous statement, don't want IH to hyperventilate before the party....)

I feel you, IH. My father died at 52, when I was 22, of leukemia. Based on his lifelong issues, I'm pretty sure that's where I got celiac from, and I wish all the time I had gotten sick when I was younger, because I easily could have gotten him to go gluten free with me. All I had to do was rub his arm and give him the puppy dog eyes. Total soft touch! ...

ARCHIVED What Do You Eat When You Have An Upset Stomach

I'm wierd, I eat spicy food when I don't feel good. I make chicken noodle soup full of pepper or curry beef stew. But don't count on this working for you, if you try it, take it slow. I'm pretty sure I'm a freak of nature. -

How about always carrying a couple of empty containers and a roll of toilet paper in the car? There's no roadside foliage to hide behind in the winter in New England! -
ARCHIVED When They Make A Mistake....
JNBunnie1 replied to 1974girl's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I so rarely eat somewhere that's not one of my regular, very trusted places, that I don't think I've ever needed to use one of these tricks. However, my litmus test for a new restaurant is always to judge the first person I see, which is usually the host. If I say the words 'gluten free' and they immediately say, yes we can do that, then I feel comfortable... -

JNBunnie1 replied to MitziG's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I would have been completely comfortable asking my father, or my mother for that matter, or both together, those kinds of questions. However, my father died 6 years ago from leukemia. My mother had to harass the holy heck out of him to get him to the doctor. He died a year later. Does guilt work on your father? Bribery? Sweet-talking? Nagging? Grandchildren... -
ARCHIVED Another Does This Look Like Dh Post
JNBunnie1 replied to JaneWhoLovesRain's topic in Dermatitis Herpetiformis
Really? My understanding was that the most significant factor in the description of dh was the unrelenting, untouchable itch. That's why so many people wind up with scars and scabs, not from the rash itself, from the scratching! I had to wear head to toe spandex under my clothes to keep myself from scratching my skin off. -

Try Against The Grain frozen pizza. The regular is good, but the white pesto pizza is just outstanding. And I'm a wicked food snob! They also sell bare crust, which would be better I think if you wanted traditional pizza. -

You know, I was at a wedding on Saturday and the groom's dog (who is ADDICTED to fetch the way humans are addicted to meth) was following people around on the dance floor the whole time with a dirty stick trying to get someone to play fetch. Sounds like some weed is in order! Thaat's kinda wierd, though... The New England paranoid militia types tend to be very reserved and withdrawn... definitely not the ATV type. Maybe that's because they're surrounded by liberals up here.... -
