  1. I agree. I actually did that with my boyfriend, with pens, and it definitely helps people who've never been ill understand the real, physical limitations we have to work with.
  2. The best investment you can make in your on-the-go breakfast lifestyle is an immersion blender. I got one for Christmas, they usually go for 40 bucks. They're basically a long stick with different blending/whisking attachments that you screw on and take off, and they go inside your tall glass/bowl/pot and blend your liquidy item. Mine plugs in. I pour yogurt...
  3. Hi surfgirl. I have a story I think may help you cope with the dragging recovery. Some time ago a friend of mine sent me this story, and she has her own long history of health problems. She beat breast cancer with a double mastectomy 20 years ago, and now has MS. I can't copy paste, so here's a link to the spoon story: Open Original Shared Link Now when...
  4. Is it really that bad to go to a quick-y place? I've always had my mother cut my hair, but she's in Florida and I need a haircut. I haven't paid for a haircut in ten years, so I don't really know what the protocol is. Help! Do I need to spend a hundred bucks for a trim?!?!
  5. You never said if he still needs a babysitter.....
  6. Wait'll your son looks like that... that'll freak you right out.
  7. My boyfriend's tummy looks like that! When he's working, anyway, over the winter he loses a little muscle and isn't as defined. The EIGHT pack is what attracted me to him in the first place! Girls are a sucker for a nice rack, too.
  8. So I'm thinking Hunnie Bunnie. Not sure how I feel about Buxom Bunnie. Though I suppose I am, it seems more like a stripper name. I REALLY like Nasty Neroli! Or Nikki! That thing with the dirt under the fingernails, my boyfriend officially thinks I'm insane for laughing at the computer!
  9. There's actually a link between tooth enamel defects and celiac, so it might be connected.
  10. You definitely picked the right place to go. What I've read about disney is that they are SUPER ready for gluten-free diets, I've read that they had gluten free waffles and a dedicated waffle iron at one restaurant. I would google 'disney world gluten free'. I also went and got the link to their help section for dietary needs on their website, here you go...
  11. Couple things- the Bob's pancake mix doesn't have any bean flour in, so if that AND the Pamela's doesn't appeal to you, you probably are tasting the rice/sorghum flour and it's putting you off. I've fed the Bob's pancakes to a number of people, some of whom didn't know about my diet, and they all enjoyed them. Maybe your tongue's just noticing the new flavors...
  12. HII!! I'm not going back either. Can we get a summary from the new summary expert? So I'm thinking of being a phone sex operator now that noone will hire me. (I'm either overqualified or underqualified for everything. How can you have it both ways?!?) Whaddaya think?
  13. If they have them, try the Katz honey muffins. Oooo boy.
  14. Y'know, you can whip 2 packs of cream cheese with one cup powdered sugar, then whip one pint whip cream to stiff peaks and mix together. Voila, no bake cheesecake. Next time I make it, I'm crushing some gluten-free 'oreos' and mixing them in the batter with mint extract, then putting in big chunks of cookie once it's mixed, it'll taste jut like mint chocolate...
  15. I've actually eaten at Longhorn a number of times, they have a gluten free menu. I think this is the sort of case where you might want to just invest the money in a call to 411 and call the place as soon as you find out you're going there. They have great steak and you definitely missed out.
  16. Your issues are time and variety, right? So here are a few suggestions. Drizzle large piles of carrots with some maple syrup and cinnamon and bake covered (350-375). They take forever to bake but they're delicious cold and they keep for a long time cooked, so you can make 3 lbs at a time for all week for the both of you. Cut sweet potatoes into 1/2...
  17. Hey, I know this is unrelated to your other problems, but if you want, post a list of your 'no's', and I'll go over and try to come up with recipes and variations, and stuff for the crockpot that will save you time. I really do think that you'll be able to get some foods back once your system has healed. Don't worry, we'll walk you through it!
  18. Dammit, woman, every time I get back on the wagon, get off the sugar and junk food, I'm cruising along all healthy and happy, here you come with one of your FRIKKIN recipes to ruin my mojo!!!!! GOD those look good. :)
  19. Wait, who's oven was broken and wouldn't turn off? Why don't you just unplug it?
  20. I would say my biggest non-health related benefit is having developed a rear end. I'm a very pale-skinned, doll faced white woman and I cannot TELL you how many black men have hit on me since I gained 20 lbs, all in my rear and legs. It's SO MUCH FUN. I never used to get hit on by anybody, and now white guys still ignore me, but black guys love me! I like...
  21. Yup, I've had a reaction. I actually have to have my boyfriend brush, wait several hours, and brush again before I'm safe. Apparently, food proteins get caught in our salivary glands and released for some time after we eat. We peck, but no mushy stuff until he's thoroughly cleansed!
