That's a good question. I stopped donating blood years ago but for a different reason--my blood clots "too quickly" plus at one point I had malaria ... Bea

ARCHIVED Roots And Squash To Replace Grains/"primitive" Diet
YoloGx replied to YoloGx's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Perhaps we are twins?? Though I still don't do well with cheese and really am allergic to nuts...though very occasionally I can sneak an almond or too. Am hoping at some point I can eat fruit such as you do. Thank god we have a lemon tree! But same story basically. Eating this more primitive diet seems worth it since it it makes me feel good rather than... -

ARCHIVED Roots And Squash To Replace Grains/"primitive" Diet
YoloGx replied to YoloGx's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Hi Collette! Sounds wonderful! I have found however that I have to stay off all grains, so no corn for me! What food did you think has the enzymes? I suppose fruit has a lot. I seem to react to the fructose however. Am not sure if its the candida etc. or an allergy to fructose.. I haven't tried beans again. I may do so one of these days... Bea -
ARCHIVED Roots And Squash To Replace Grains/"primitive" Diet
YoloGx posted a topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Anyone else here observed that eating roots and squash to replace grains has a positive effect in their health? I have been hearing about the low carb diet however this diet I am suggesting still has plenty of carbs. I learned about it years ago as the cave man diet though am not sure they suggested the roots and squash. I still avoid potatoes/tomatoes... -
A lot of time with celiac the damaged villi can't handle the large milk globules for a while if ever. The cream probably has even larger molecules. For myself I only can handle eating nonfat sugar free yogurt for the same reason...the fatty kinds get me. At least you thankfully can eat more milk products so perhaps you can think of other alternatives to...

ARCHIVED Swine Flu & Celiac
YoloGx replied to foodiegurl's topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
My experience is that by staying on diet and avoiding all trace glutens I actually am more resistant to colds and flu than the average person--whereas previously it was just the opposite. Just to make sure, I think its wise for anyone who wants to be even healthier to go off all grains and sugars and additives for a while. You will be glad you did plus it... -
Most certainly!! Much much good luck to you on this journey. I also had to go off other things too--namely potatoes/tomatoes/peppers all being from the nightshade family plus all nuts and milk except for nonfat organic yogurt which I sweeten with plain stevia. Can only handle eating sunflower seeds, as a nut like thing--not even sesame for me (gives me...

ARCHIVED Migraines And Tinnitus With Celiac
YoloGx replied to Sher B.'s topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Anybody figured out some remedies that help get rid of tinnitus? Just read that ashwaganda, zinc and ginkgo are good plus B vitamins (B1, B12, B6), vitamin E, Co-Q10 are helpful... Anyone here tried some of these? For me by avoiding certain allergens my ear ringing stopped. However my friend who also has celiac seems to suffer from it continuously.... -
Ahh--good to rant yes. So much unneeded suffering!! I feel for you. I never got diabetes but I did lose 1/2 my right kidney due to celiac plus had a degraded nervous system and heart. Taking co-enzyme B vitamin complex plus vitamin D, E, C etc. and minerals has really helped. But even more recently I have gone off all grains and find I am feeling better...

ARCHIVED gluten-free Still Having Symptoms
YoloGx replied to Mrs. Smith's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Totally right. I take the magnesium citrate powder so its easy to control the amount. I personally use 630 mg a day generally in two divided doses (i.e., half tsp. twice daily). But not if I have D! Mag. is great for building up the nervous system by the way. Good to use together with Calcium Citrate and Colloidal minerals taken with apple cider vinegar... -

YoloGx replied to Mrs. Smith's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
However if you are getting D maybe now isn't the time to be taking extra mag?? Since too much mag. will cause D all by itself. Other thing. I hate to say this but You might want to change jobs or do something so you don't get exposed to gluten at your job. Certainly wash your hands all the time and don't brush your hand against your mouth. Another thing... -
ARCHIVED gluten-free Still Having Symptoms
YoloGx replied to Mrs. Smith's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I take two a day--away from food (like 2 hours before, one hour after--often at night or early in the morning. It hasn't made me flush. As said, hang in there. It often does take time, esp. dh. The idea of more mag. is a good one... Be on the lookout for other allergens too. I found I am allergic to coconut milk for instance and even carrots... Bea -
ARCHIVED gluten-free Still Having Symptoms
YoloGx replied to Mrs. Smith's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Testing for me never revealed candida, however I certainly did suffer from some kind of candida like overgrowth both internally plus externally it caused some kind of eczema like stuff that was very irritating. I believe my system was way out of balance eating all those grains...as well as in the past fruit and sugar. Like you I am type O and have celiac... -
ARCHIVED Sublingual B12 Without Sorbitol?
YoloGx replied to Blondie's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
My experience and understanding is that the co-enzyme b vitamins work better than the regular sub-linguals, but without the sorbitol. Once they go into the stomach, they go directly into the bloodstream bypassing the liver. My understanding is that the co-enzyme process makes it so you don't need to take as high a dosage as you might otherwise. Certainly... -
ARCHIVED Sublingual B12 Without Sorbitol?
YoloGx replied to Blondie's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I take co-enzyme B complex by Country Life. Its not sublingual, but just as effective, if not more so since the co-enzyme action makes the B vitamins go directly into the blood stream. Plus it is pretty inexpensive. Lots of bang for one's buck since this way you get a balanced load of absorpable B vitamins. Best taken away from food on an empty stomach. ... -
ARCHIVED gluten-free Still Having Symptoms

It seems like every person is a little different. Give it time. Try to develop a sense of humor about it. Take care of yourself meanwhile. The milk sensitivity is something that many overcome. For myself I can now tolerate non fat plain organic yogurt but no other milk products. My mother and brother who also have celiac seem to do fine with it plus lactaid... -
ARCHIVED gluten-free Still Having Symptoms
YoloGx replied to Mrs. Smith's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Sounds like you have done a lot of good work on yourself. Meanwhile however it often takes a while for the villi etc. to heal not to mention other systems such as nervous etc. etc. So have patience. Patience or not, I find taking certain detox herbs like dandelion, Oregon grape root or cleavers really helps from time to time. Marshmallow root caps taken... -
hi RAisin, Forgot to mention its very easy to make ginger tea. Just get some fresh ginger root. I slice it and dice it up a bit. A friend of mine uses a cheese grater. You can also get dried ginger, either bits or powdered. For tea I prefer the bits... If you want to get more exotic you could make a Chai by adding cinnamon and maybe some stevia for sweetner...

Just looked up Lolita fashion. Looks very Victorian/Gothic--and cute. We are so much alike though I usually wear work pants since my job as a property manager entails overseeing and working on houses. I too am allergic to almost everything. I even have to be careful of a number of building materials. Buckwheat seems a no no for me. Glad its working for...

Hi Foodie. I just read that DGL is often combined with Mastic. Both are natural products. DGL from licorice, mastic from berries from the Mediterranian mastic tree. Both heal the stomache and are good against the H. Pylori. You'll just have to experiment and see if it agrees with you or not. For me, the straight licorice powder is a better alternative...

Hi Raisin, You know everybody has their issues. Being sensitive isn't all bad. It helps no doubt to do your art. Many people would give their eye teeth to be more distinctive since their secret fear is that they are boring. No doubt you will live longer and look better than many if you keep to your diet. I am the same way--sensitive to everything, plus...

Ah well--when I was a child and young adult on ocasion I used to see people who werent' there and hear voices. I didn't freak fortunately nevertheless it was a little strange. Taking B complex starting in my early twenties really helped plus going off most of the wheat family by the time I was thirty really helped my health overall plus made the most of...

Glad you found the suggestion to avoid peanut butter helpful! Peanuts actually are a common allergen. I can eat the peanut butter maybe once a month or so...No more. I find it addictive plus potently not good for me. Twists my intestines and alters my brain chemistry. I too avoid beans for the most part. Maybe have some lentils once a month--which is for...
