  2. Maybe your daughter could talk to the cooks and explain everything. Maybe they could prepare something safe for her? Or maybe she could ask to see how the food is prepared and see if there are any cross contamination risks in the kitchen.
  3. PEI is beautiful, with probably some of the nicest beaches in North America. Are you talking about Anne of Green Gables?
  4. Sterk's is hard to find. I used to be able to buy it in health food stores on Prince Edward Island. I did a search on google and found this: Open Original Shared Link Go to breads, buns and mixes and then look for Sterk's Sandwich bread. It should be on the second page.
  5. VH soy sauce is gluten-free.
  6. Sterks sandwhich bread.
  7. I use Kinnikinnick Italian White Tapioca Bread.
  8. Many people with celiac disease are temporarily lactose intolerant until their villi heal. The enzymes that break down lactose are located at the tips of the villi and when some of them are blunted from gluten, lactose sometimes gets through, causing problems. Maybe try taking lacaid with dairy?
  9. This is my opinion: They are not sure where the blood came from. Your small and large intestine seem normal. They didn't seem to find any direct evidence of the blood origin (such as hemroids, infections, lesions, ect). The blood you had may be from something that they can't see or something that was there and is now gone. I wish you luck at your appointment...
  10. Since I reacted to spice mix, than I could be allergic to only one spice or more, so I have to eliminate them all for a week and then slowly introduce them to see which one causes the problems. Could be interesting that's for sure... Marcia, thanks for sharing your story. So delayed reactions are common in your family? What has been the most delayed...
  11. Thanks Lisa, That's crazy that your parents wouldn't take you to the hospital I'm also thinking the same thing about my allergies some of the foods really affect me and other don't seem to at all. I guess an elimination diet will tell for sure.
  12. They say spice mix is allspice, cinnamon, colves, ginger, and nutmeg. Marcia, thanks for your reply. Does your daughter know for sure what causes her reactions? This is all very confusing for me as I am not 100% sure what caused the reaction. I wish my epipen were free, I had to pay $140! And I don't have insurance! Ah! I had a skin prick test and...
  13. I just got my food allergy results today: I am allergic to cabbage, turkey, peanuts, tea, potatoes, strawberries, blueberries, lamb, spice mix, and metabisulphite. They said that wheat wouldn't show up because I'm not eating it and that I could still be allergic. I now have a presciption for an epipen, but I am still unsure what caused that reaction...
  14. We will miss you here I haven't really been around enough lately to notice too many threads about paranoia and conspiracy theories so I can't really comment on that, but I've noticed that the board has changed over the past few months. I find that there are less threads for helping people with celiac disease and more threads on other topics than there...
  15. My cat is all most gluten-free too except for the random treats he gets! He eats Science Direct Hair Ball treatment (He is a Himalayen) and Friskas without gluten in the ingredients.
  16. There are recipes on this thread for a wide variety of foods: Open Original Shared Link Have a fun party!
  17. You can get a false negative result if you are gluten-free before the blood test. The blood test checks for antibodies and if you have been gluten-free for awhile the antibodies may no longer be present.
  18. Yes! I had random stomach pain for up to 2 weeks after the fact once.
  19. Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm. That could explain a few things. I'm going to change to Crest Tommorrow. Thanks for the info. Has anyone noticed a problem?
  20. I have read before that Sensodyne may not be gluten-free. But I've never looked into it. Really? Where did you hear about that? That's what I'm using now!
  21. Wow! Happy Birthday
  22. I miss being able to go to any restaurant and eat with everyone else. I always try and recreate the foods I miss myself in a gluten-free and casein free way.
  23. When you are on a gluten-free diet, results from celiac disease tests are likely to be false negative. Meaning the gluten-free diet is working! I persoannly would go with the opion of the doctor that orginally treated you and tested you. I would also ask for allergy tests such as a skin prick test or an allergy blood test.
  24. I'm sorry that she is sick We all make mistakes.
