  1. Karen, I remember that you posted about low iron before and that nothing seemed to work. I was just wondering if you ever have a follow up biopsy to see if your villi are healed?
  2. One of my allergic responses is a racing heart and heart palpitations so I think that I'll stay away from Claritin!
  3. Thanks for the information. I saw that information about benadryl on their website and then two other sites said that it was gluten free. I don't think I'll try it though just to be safe. I just double checked Claitin and one website says that they can't guarantee that they are gluten free. This is old information. Do you have an updated statement? ...
  4. My doctor said that benadryl would help, but I am still in the process of figuring out if benadryl is gluten-free. Do you know if it is?
  5. I used to eat their Shepherds Pie and I noticed a few months ago that the "gluten free" label was gone I am very disapointed. If they are going to serve people with allergies and intolerances, then why do they have wheat and dairy in their facilities? Does wheat and dairy have to be everywhere? I get so annoyed that wheat and dairy are in so many things...
  6. This is really a personal decision for everyone. I personally wouldn't eat them. I get major reactions to wheat and it just wouldn't be worth the risk for me. Maybe you could bring your own food to eat?
  7. I didn't start to feel close to 100% better until about 1 year on the gluten-free diet. I was having major energy problems up until then. I started to notice some improvement after 6 months on the diet. I took about 2 weeks off of soccer when my energy levels were near zero. Other than that, I kept working on my master's degree throughout the whole...
  8. I got a rash after going gluten free. They are little red bumps that can itch. I get the rash when I accidently have wheat. My doctor thinks the rash is an allergic reaction to wheat, since I also have a wheat allergy.
  9. Is this the lady at the farmers market on PEI?
  10. I get dizzy when I accidentally eat gluten.
  11. I bought mine in a store for about $3.50 Canadian.
  12. I really like the blue diamond milk too! I've only tried the vanilla. I've been enjoying it with berries and honey.
  13. I've always gotten sick after eating their fries so I voted NO WAY! NEVER!
  14. I think that the problem is an allergic reaction to wheat. But I'm glad that I'm having the testing done to make sure that there is nothing else going on. I actually ate out at a safe restaurant the day before I got the serious reaction. I've eaten there many times without getting sick, but I guess this time I wasn't so lucky. I actually get sick...
  15. I want to thank everyone for your wonderful suggestions and please keep them coming! I, however, will not be eating out at restaurants anymore, unless they are 100% gluten free. I just ate at Swiss Chalet last week and got a serious reaction, which was more from my wheat allergy than from celiac disease (I was having heart problems). I was just advised by...
  16. Gluten damages the villi in the small intestine where the enzymes are to break down lactose. When the villi are damaged, individuals cannot digest lactose, which causes problems. Lactose shouldn't cause problems after the intestines have healed. However, some people with celiac disease though (like myself) appear to be intolerant to casein the milk protein...
  17. I went to the doctor today and he suggested that I am having wheat allergy reactions, not life threating though, thank goodness. In addition to having celiac disease, I also have a wheat allergy and I've noticed that I get allergy symptoms after I suspect an accidental gluten injestion. However, I seem to get these episodes over foods that most people with...
  18. From what I've read, I think that people with autism tend to be gluten and casein intolerant. I don't think that there has been much research done on this subject.
  19. If you are suspecting thyroid trouble, I would get it checked. Maybe try cutting your rice intake in half and try and fill up on protein, vegetables, and fruits. This may help
  20. Nice. As far as I can remember wheat doesn't have a great flavour. Sorry, couldn't help but comment.
  21. I've recently tried Almond Breeze. They are gluten and dairy free. Open Original Shared Link
  22. I am one of the ones that has said that I reacted to them. I had a severe reaction about a year ago now and the only thing different (that I can remember) I ate was Bob's Red Mill flaxseed. Here is the statement on their website: "Bob’s Red Mill stone grinds flours in a dedicated room for the production of its gluten-free line and performs batch testing b...
  23. Here is a link to some recipes: Open Original Shared Link I've put brand names in most of the recipes.
