  1. Thanks for the information! Don't be sorry, I was just curious as to how gluten, milk, and soy, relate to infections. I am gluten and dairy free, but not soy free. I would find eliminating soy really hard since I love soy sauce so much. Thanks! I will let you know how it goes at the doctor. I will post the results and what the doctor says in my Graves...
  2. So gluten, milk, and soy can cause infections?
  3. Thanks for your advice Rachel, I'll take a look at that thread.
  4. Thanks for reminding me about the magnesium and potassium. I had learned that they helped about a year ago and I had completely forgotten! I'm going to take one of my calcium magnesium supplements right now. I also had watermelon today!
  5. As most of you already know, I've been diagnosed with celiac disease for almost 2 years now. The first year was a struggle and I slowly got better. I have been doing great; however, lately I've been having these mysterious reactions which I have been blamming on gluten. My worst symptoms right now are a racing heart and heart palpitatations for no apparent...
  6. Their statement still bothers me though. If they always got a reading of 0ppm then they would probably have that in place of their less than 20ppm statement. This statement tells me that they must have some days where they get readings of 19ppm or less, and who knows what readings they may get on days that they don't test.
  7. Yes, I have been glutened by Bob's Red Mill. They say on their website that their gluten free products have small amounts of gluten in them: "Bob’s Red Mill stone grinds flours in a dedicated room for the production of its gluten-free line and performs batch testing before processing and after packaging. The company adheres to the Codex Alimentarius standard –...
  8. Nice That is quite the statement! Since when did having celiac disease become a choice?
  9. I didn't know that companies did that! Thanks for letting us know.
  10. No. I live in Canada.
  11. If you're in Canada, you can get the difference in price back from gluten free items to gluten items. Therefore, if a loaf of gluten-free bread cost 6$ and regular bread cost $2, then you would get $4 back. This can add up to a lot of money by the end of the year! I also get frustrated with the high prices of my groceries, but then I just think that I...
  12. Wow... that is pretty nasty.
  13. Here is a link to some recipes that are very good: Open Original Shared Link I eat a lot of those foods for breakfast, lunch, and supper.
  14. This is great to try if you start to feel sick from a virus or a bacterial infection. Open Original Shared Link Open Original Shared Link Garlic and Onions 1 onion, diced 7-8 cloves (or more) of garlic, minced (I use a garlic press) 1/4 cup unsalted sunflower seeds 1 Tablespoon Mrs. Dash Orignial Spice or Mrs. Dash Extra Spicy 2 Tablespoons olive...
  15. Old El Paso corn tortillas are gluten-free.
  16. Which nuts were you reacting to? I've eaten Planters nuts with no problems.
  17. I am dairy intolerant and my symptoms can be similar to a gluten reaction. My reactions to lays products were most likely from dairy, but there is no way in knowing for sure. However, I am almost certain that the rest of the products had gluten. I have very distinct gluten symptoms such as heart palpitations, a rash/hives, dizziness, and brain fog, which...
  18. I am super sensitive and I react to products that others don't. For example, if a product is gluten free and produced in a facility with wheat, then I will usually feel sick, but others will report having no problems. Here is a list of products that I have reacted to: Bob's Red Mill Butterball Maple Leaf Campbells MacDonalds fries A large bottle of...
  19. I get a rash and/or hives from gluten. They look a lot like chicken pox, but they can blend together to form a rash. Sometimes they are itchy and somethimes they aren't. I'm not sure if the reaction is due to celiac disease or my wheat allergy. The spots don't look like dh, so I'm assuming they are a result of my wheat allergy.
  20. I've been gluten free for almost 2 years now and I believe that I have a gluten reaction about once every 2 months (so I voted once a month). I think most of my reactions are from cross contamination at home or from "gluten free" products.
  21. I have both celiac disease and a wheat allergy.
  22. Yes! I got violently ill from eating food from their gluten free menu. I ate at an Outback in the Guelph/Kitchener area. The reaction I had may have been from dairy though since I am intolerant to both gluten and dairy. Regardless, I won't be eating there again.
  23. I use soy milk or rice milk.
  24. Homemade Sweet Potato Fries 2 large sweet potatoes, cut into thin slices Mrs. Dash Original Spice, or your favorite spice Heinz ketchup olive oil Rub olive oil on a baking pan, then place the sweet potatoes on the pan and sprinkle the spice on top. Bake at about 350 for approximately 15 minutes. These will burn fast so check quite freqently. Serve...
  25. I would love to go, but if I get a job within the next month or so, I probably won't be able to attend unless I get a job in southern Ontario.
