Carriefaith replied to Emma's Mom's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I'm not familiar with the celiac blood test that you had done, but here are a list of some others, if you are interested: Anti-Gliadin (AGA) IgA Anti-Gliadin (AGA) IgG Anti-Endomysial (EMA) IgA Anti-Tissue Transglutaminase (tTG) IgA Total Serum IgA I would guess that you have celiac disease or are gluten intolerant based on your reaction. If you... -

ARCHIVED Gluten Reaction?
Carriefaith replied to Emma's Mom's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
You could still be gluten intolerant without having celiac disease. Which tests did you have done? Gluten also makes me dizzy and my reactions can last for a few days or a few weeks, depending on how much I accidently ate. -

Carriefaith replied to popoki321's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Welcome! I hope that your biopsy goes well on Friday. They will have to send the biopsies to the lab. However, I called my doctors office 2 days after my biopsy and I got my results. I didn't wait for the doctor to call me because I was too impateinet, so I just called them. Please free free to ask questions and we will try our best to help. Also, don't hesitate... -
Someone requested a pita bread recipe the other day and I said that I would give them a recipe; however, I cannot seem to find the thread. Here is a soft taco recipe that could be used as pita bread: Bean Flour Torillas 1/3 cup light bean flour 1/2 cup cornstarch 2 Tablespoons tapioca flour 1/2 teaspoon salt 2 eggs or 3 egg whites, or 1/2 cup liquid...

A dairy free and gluten free diet may help relieve some symptoms. Many people with celiac disease are temporarily lactose intolerant until their intestines heal. The enzyme to break down lactose is located in the tips of the villi, so when the villi are damaged, lactose cannot be broken down very well, if at all.

Carriefaith replied to elfkin's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Try and use the smaller bottles of McCormick's Vanilla, larger bottles have a higher risk of cross contamination. -

Nice! -
I get sick from cross contamination very easily. I really have to limit a lot of "gluten free" mainstream foods and even a few "gluten free" foods because of cross contamination issues. Some products that make me sick are Humpty Dumpty chips, Butterball products, Maple Leaf all beef hot dogs, and Bob's Red Mill flaxseed.

Here are some sites that discuss cross contamination: Open Original Shared Link "If someone in your family bakes with products that contain gluten, you need to thoroughly clean appliances, utensils, and work surfaces before preparing your gluten-free products. Remember to wash your hands thoroughly and often." Open Original Shared Link disease=4 ...

ARCHIVED Trying To Figure Out Family History
Carriefaith replied to guy220d's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
People with celiac disease that do not follow the gluten free diet have about a 40% increased risk of stomach cancer than someone without celiac disease or someone with celiac disease who is following the diet. Intestinal lymphoma is one of the types of stomach cancers associated with celiac disease. I'm really sorry about your dad -
I'm sorry that you're feeling sick Did your food get contaminated?

ARCHIVED Please Help Me Find The Gluten
Carriefaith replied to VydorScope's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I would consider cross contamination with one of the products. Maybe try contacting all four companies and ask them if there is a high risk of cross contamination. -

ARCHIVED Dreaming About Eating Bread?
Carriefaith replied to carriecraig's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
I've had some dreams about eating gluten. In one of my dreams I took a bite out of a cookie and then I spat it out right away. I got really upset in my dream, since I thought that I was going to get really sick. When I woke up, I was really glad! -
I have a recipe that would work for this at home. I will post the recipe as soon as I get a chance.
