  1. The good thing about the gene test is that she can have the test done while on a gluten free diet. Therefore, essentially you could wait a few years to get it done. I think starting the gluten free diet would be a good idea if you feel that she has some symptoms of celiac disease or a gluten intolerance.
  2. Yes, I also feel like that after I accidentally eat gluten. I'm feeling that way right now actually, after getting glutened earlier in the week.
  3. I really like the book and I find that the information is quite interesting and that it makes a lot of sense. I "sort of" follow the diet anyway since I am gluten and dairy free; however, I do eat rice, some legumes, salt, and sugar. I am trying to cut back on the salt and sugar though. I'm replacing them with honey and other spices. I haven't read dangerous...
  4. Those symptoms are very similar to mine. I also get a rash/hives, severe stomach pain, depression, increased anxiety to the point where I get heart palpitations, and I also get GI problems. I actually just had a mild gluten reaction this week and I got a rash/hives over most of my legs. The rash was hot after being outside in cold temperatures and after a...
  5. That is an interesting article. Thanks Karen If you are interested in this topic, I suggest reading the Paleo Diet by Dr. Loren Cordaine. I've been reading this book and I think that it's great! Here is a link: Open Original Shared Link
  6. I've read that casein can damage the intestines. There really isn't much information on the subject.
  7. My grandmother has celiac disease and I suspect that my aunt also has celiac disease. I think my mom may be gluten intolerant since she has tested negative for celiac disease.
  8. I would say that eating lays chips is a personal decision. Some people react to them and others do not react to them. I would however recommend eating the lays chips that are on dedicated lines. I would contact the company to confirm which chips are on the dedicated lines.
  9. Have you been tested for other digestive diseases such as chron's, ulcerative colitis, or collagenous colitis?
  10. What country are you from? If you are from Canada, I have a few suggestions.
  11. Really? Has anyone else received a response like this?
  12. Thanks for the link. I'll have to try some of those recipes!
  13. I really like their pizza crusts, Italian White Rice Bread, and their all purpose flour mix. Their donuts are also good.
  14. I buy Kinnikinick frozen pizza crusts and put my own toppings on them while they are still frozen. I then put them back in the freezer and have frozen dinners for the rest of the week!
  15. Gluten free bread can be a hit or a miss. Have you tried the Tinkyada pasta yet?
  16. I agree with Tiffany. When I go shopping I spend most of my time in the produce section, seafood, meats, and the health food section. I do venture into the interior of the store to get things like rice, canned vegetables/fruits/tuna, Kraft condiments, ect. If you are looking for recipes I have some on this forum: Open Original Shared Link
  17. Even though you tested negative for celiac, you could still be intolerant to gluten or to another food. Some of the most common food intolerances are casein, lactose, wheat, eggs, soy, nuts, and corn. Some foods such as gluten and dairy have only recently been introduced into the human diet, considering the length of time humans have been on the planet. Early...
  18. Thanks Linda, I'll have to give that recipe a try!
  19. Have you tried Sterk's bread? I really like Sterk's Sliced Sandwich Bread especially when it's toasted: Open Original Shared Link The gluten free diet is hard at first, but it becomes easier with time. If you need meal ideas or recipes just ask!
  20. Some professors can be rude. She was probably just having a bad day and took it out on you. I'm sorry that you were treated that way.
  21. I use Thermasilk shampoo and conditioner and Vaseline lotions.
  22. Wow! Thank you so much! I'll have to try one of the recipes. Let me know how the second one turns out. I think that I may try the second one as well.
  23. I have a list of my favorite recipes on this forum: Open Original Shared Link You could replace beef, turkey, and other meats with chicken. For example, maybe try ground chicken in chili or chicken strips in a stir fry. If you like salmon, I highly recommend the Steamed Salmon with Thai Herbs from the Thai Kitchen site.
  24. Oh it's not your fault at all. They probably are gluten free and just got contaminated from something in the factory. I am ultra sensitive to gluten. I've had gluten reactions to products that have gluten free right on the label! I didn't even get that sick from the turkey just a rash, hives, and some fatigue. Hopefully, that's all the symptoms that I will...
  25. I use Earth Balance soy butter and I am quite impressed. I can hardly even tell the difference. I also like that they have gluten free right on the label.
