  1. I also eat in a kitchen that isn't gluten free. You already seem to be quite aware of cross-contamination. Some other tips, check all plates, utensils, pot, pans, ect for crumbs or potential gluten residue. If a good scrubbing can't get rid of baked on gluten, then buy new cookware. I find that pans used to cook chicken nuggets, fish sticks, egg rolls, french...
  2. I slightly modified my beet stir fry recipe above. I used very large beets when I made that recipe.
  3. Berry Smoothie 1 1/4 cups frozen blueberries/raspberries/mixed berries 1 ½ cups Vanilla So Good Soy milk, Vanilla rice milk (Natur-a riceum), or Vanilla Almond milk (Almond Breeze). 2 tablespoons honey Tuna/Chicken/Turkey Salad Sandwiches Italian white Kinnikinick bread, toasted OR Old El Paso corn tacos 2-3 tablespoons mayonnaise (Kraft with clearly ...
  4. Thanks! That's new information to me! I thought that those products had gluten in them so I am very excited! I love seeing new information from companies so post away!
  5. Here are a few more: Stuffing 4 shallots, minced 1 onion, diced 5 celery ribs, diced 5 carrots, diced 2-3 tbl soy butter 2 tbl dry sage 2 tbl dry thyme 2 tbl dry summer savory dash of pepper 1 cup white wine 1 loaf gluten-free bread, cubed (I use Kinnikinnick Italian white tapioca, thawed) 1 cup gluten-free chicken stock (I use 1 cup of...
  6. I know that I've posted some of my recipes before, but I thought that I would start a thread since I am finding great new recipes all the time. Please feel free to add to this list. I love to try new recipes! All of my recipes are gluten and dairy free. Sweet Indian Curry 1 tablespoon fresh lime juice 1 ginger root, minced 4 fresh tomatoes, blended...
  7. Thanks! Is that new information?
  8. I'm sorry that you had a bad experience I'll make a mental note not to go there if I'm in Calgary.
  9. I can sometimes get mild insomnia from gluten. Maybe try reducing your intake of salt and caffeine. I just read recently that a high salt diet can cause insomia.
  10. If I were in your situation, I would find letting my child eat at their house very hard. I don't think that I would let my child eat there. Especially since you already gave them a lot of info on the subject. If he does have to eat there sometimes, I would suggest telling them that gluten is like poison to your son and that they must be "clean" or else he...
  11. I suggest getting lots of rest. I find that orange juice and Thai Kitchen's spring onion soup help me feel better when I am glutened.
  12. Maybe you could try eating foods that are really high in iron such as lean meats and seafood? Also, have you tryed taking iron in a liquid form? Another thing, maybe try cutting out foods that may interfere with digesting important vitamins and minerals such as caffeine and dairy. Just a few ideas!
  13. Casein (the milk protein) intolerance is common amoung those with celiac disease. If you think that you may have another food intolerance I would try elminating casein for a few weeks and see how you feel. I am gluten and dairy free and don't mind the diet at all. Some other common food allergies are soy, corn, egg, and nuts. Also, maybe try eating more fresh...
  14. I believe that beer is made from barley, so maybe you react differently to different types of grains. Therefore, maybe your reaction to wheat is worse than barley. I personally can have varying reactions to gluten. I think my reaction depends on the amount and the concentration of gluten.
  15. I'm guessing that your iron levels are low. Do you eat a lot of iron from natural sources?
  16. Thank you so much
  17. I am very sensitive and I don't have problems with Tinkyada pasta. Maybe you could try contacting the company to see if there are any possible cross contamination issues in the factory.
  18. What is the name of the book?
  19. Anything that goes on your face could potentially end up in your mouth through sweating. I've been glutened by a suntan lotion with oat extract.
  20. I would stick to the gluten free diet. I would prefer to put my money towards celiac awarness rather than a cure.
  21. Ragu is gluten-free.
  22. Wow, I wish there was one here. I would love to have a health food store the size of the Atlantic Superstore.
  23. Just out of curiosity, is Whole Foods a grocery store or a health food store? Sorry for my ignorance but I don't believe those stores exist in Canada.
  24. Thanks for alerting us about that Tiffany! I certainly wouldn't want to get the wheat pretzels! I'm sure I'd be in bed for weeks!
