ARCHIVED Specific Carbohydrate Diet (SCD)
mftnchn replied to AliB's topic in Food Intolerance & Leaky Gut
I think you may be able to use the DCCC or farmer's cheese and applesauce to replace the eggs...or something like that. I know I read something on one of the sites. For lunch today I had stir fried beef, carrots and yellow sweet pepper. Not sure what my housekeeper used for seasoning. She often does eggs and veggies, carrort, zucchini, cucumber, tomato... -

Rachel, sounds great so far. Your into the "next" waiting, LOL. Andrea hope S does ok and you have a good night. Kassandra, looking forward to more updates as you can. I'm in more pain today. Its moved to upper back and neck and worse. Glutathione helped this morning, took more binders this afternoon. I hope this is just some detox from the... -
ARCHIVED Low Carb And Gluten Free

I was also going to post about the SCD. Since being put on the diet by my doctor and reading along in many places, I discovered that the explanations for the carb problem has been here all along in the celiac info. I have been reading Scott's newsletters and there are several articles about it. There is also several articles about weight, carbs, gluten... -
ARCHIVED Finally Figured Out Why I Have Been So Sick
mftnchn replied to Genie75's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Janet, I agree about looking at SCD. The science in the explanation fits what you are describing very well. If it works, it is nice because there is a lot of support, recipes, etc. to help you. Also there are articles in Scott's newsletter that explain the carbohydrate problem really well. For example in the Winter 2003, it talks about healing. Even... -

In some areas of the country it is called Farmer's cheese, I understand. So that's probably right. Your probiotic sounds fine to me. It doesn't really matter how much as it will multiply in your yogurt. Use two capsules and it would be about the same anyway, I think. Kroger is the same as our Fred Meyer, I think. I never found the DCCC at Fred Meyer... -

I am puzzled by my own low yeast or bad guys showing up in the testing I have done this year. Seems like it could have been a lot worse. However, we both have had a lot of worms so that indicates compromise in the gut. I was reading yesterday that it not only feeds them sugar (in my case at least) but undigested food, so its a great place for them to want... -

Maybe use more honey and fruit, less potato, grains, etc? So they are absorbed quicker and higher in the gut? Maybe ease into it as your symptoms improve? -

I'm not sure either, perhaps Rachel will have an idea. I am taking the glutathione by shot, twice a week. It seems to me like it helps the liver by giving the body what the liver can't make enough of. This morning I took my shot and it is helping with the back pain, it seems like. I think the ecoffee helps too by causing the release of bile. I have... -

Struck me funny too, LOL! I agree with Carla; also I think that your positive approach toward your health problems and looking for solutions is very cool and will be an attractive quality to many. I bet there are guys who would happily join with you on your journey and wouldn't see the restrictions as major problems at all. Sherry -

Maybe it would be wise to go back to the 95% 5% for awhile and really minimize the carbs--just to give your body a bit more help with the mold. -

Hi, Deborah and welcome. Some good comments already, I'll just add my thoughts. You mentioned gluten-free, so I wonder if your son is diagnosed as celiac or on gluten-free for other reasons? If you suspect celiac, then I would underscore what April said because it could be that his digestive system and intestinal villi are compromised and he is not... -

Rachel, makes sense. And what if you could let somebody be a part of your life and your current journey toward health? I don't think every guy would be like your ex but it might be that's where the emotional trigger and stuck place is. Paula, hope you feel better soon. Carla, how are you this morning? I'm having some symptoms again. Mostly lower... -

mftnchn replied to Rachel--24's topic in Food Intolerance & Leaky Gut
Maybe this is the trigger--feeling more sick triggers the anxiety of being rejected for being sick and being left alone again?? Maybe that would tie into your high motivation to get well and go to Germany... Sherry -
Can you say a little more about your situation? Were you clearly diagnosed as celiac and when did you go gluten-free? Did you have a total clearing of symptoms before the recent problems? Did you have check ups on your levels or further malabsorption tests that showed you were healing? That said, yes stress can impact us greatly. We are "whole" people...

ARCHIVED Specific Carbohydrate Diet (SCD)
mftnchn replied to AliB's topic in Food Intolerance & Leaky Gut
Hmmm, you are testing my memory, LOL! Breakfast: almond muffin Lunch: Chicken mushroom carrot stew Snack: Yogurt smoothie with cooked apples, honey, vanilla Snack: almonds and raisins, a couple of pumpkin cookies I made; also in the evening a couple pieces of freshly made almond muffins. I usually limit myself to one a day but couldn't resist the... -

mftnchn replied to Rachel--24's topic in Food Intolerance & Leaky Gut
Carla, that sounds awful. I hope you can figure out something to help. Rachel, I'm not sure it would show up. As we know, the testing does things in layers. And it could be an experience that seems really normal and minor, but has just stored up some emotions because of your being little when it happened. Feeling alone and unable to talk about it could... -
ARCHIVED Omg...i Might Be On To Something
mftnchn replied to Rachel--24's topic in Food Intolerance & Leaky Gut
Rachel, what you describe is really fascinating. I would agree that there is probably something unresolved. What is interesting is that sometimes the unresolved thing is not what you think it is, for example the bad break-up. It could be something from early childhood that you hardly remember or even see as problematic, but there is an emotional similarity... -
ARCHIVED Gluten Free 6 Months (but Something Still Wrong)
mftnchn replied to KristaleeJane's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
If candida is a major problem, if I were you (with what I know now), I'd get a test to see if your fecal sugar is high. That would mean you are not digesting carbs; instead of being broken down to monosaccharides and absorbed in the upper gut the double sugars are getting to the whole intestine--not absorbed. Basically then you become a wonderful food source... -
ARCHIVED Constipation?
mftnchn replied to sarah1's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Yes, C was my main symptom. The breakouts could be the skin form of celiac, DH, you could also read about that and see if it fits. Many people's C gets better just gluten-free, but not everyone. If you are in that position, keep posting. There are many here who can help. I have finally resolved mine, but not just gluten-free. -
ARCHIVED Specific Carbohydrate Diet (SCD)
mftnchn replied to AliB's topic in Food Intolerance & Leaky Gut
I really think the answer to falling down on the diet--at least for me--has been preparing things ahead and having them frozen. If I have something that is okay to eat readily available, I can usually get myself to eat that first, then the craving eases a lot. I let myself have honey a lot at first, and I think it is a good option for the bad craving... -

on the teeth bugs! Won't lugal's discolor your teeth? I probably need to do that too. On the yogurt, yes, it is more runny. Unless you use cream to make it. It is more like a thick drinking yogurt. Don't add the honey while it is fermenting, only afterward, and after you have refrigerated it for 8 hours is better. Yes you have to really stir it... -

Welcome Fig! Sorry to hear you are struggling, and hope SCD will help. What I have read is that some on SCD have been able to reintroduce foods later, hope that works for you. On the eggs, I think there might be some recipes on some of the SCD websites for substitutes. You might experiment if you can find fresh duck eggs, to see if you can tolerate... -

I'm sorry too. Its very hard work to deal with this and takes a lot of energy and time. Sometimes we have developed a whole repetoire of things to keep us from "going there." I hope that you can soon continue this process and that it will have a huge impact on your heatlh. Sherry -
ARCHIVED Help!
mftnchn replied to Janiney's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I'd request copies of the actual lab results. Do you have that legal right? We do, in the USA, we can't legally be refused that information. Be sure that your skin biopsy is of a draining, weeping pustule if possible. If it is positive it will be conclusive for celiac, which may be a relief to you. It sounds to me that you already know you need to...
