  1. If you have celiac type symptoms then it would be a good idea to get a celiac panel done. Don't go gluten free until you are tested. It wouldn't hurt to tell your doctor what is going on so he can evaluate you.
  2. Have you considered that you may be soy intolerant in addition to gluten? I thought for a long time that much of my gluten-free stuff was CC'd when it was actually the soy in the product I was reacting to.
  3. If you were glutened last week that may explain why it is back. It takes a while to heal and you haven't been gluten free for very long. It seems to take the antibodies a while to leave the skin and any glutening you get for a while may bring it back. I hope it resolves soon for you and make sure you check your topicals for gluten ingredients as that can...
  4. Realizing your not alone is one of the best things about this site. So many of us have been sick for so long and are labeled hypocondriacs by doctors that we eventually lose hope of ever feeling well. Once you get that label it tends to follow you and doctors wonder why some of us don't want them to see our records from past doctors. I hope there is soon...
  5. Yea the short term consequences are enough to stop me and most others here also. I wonder how she will feel when the time comes that she doesn't make it to the bathroom. Hope she carries a change of clothes to work with her. Personally I don't care if others cheat on their diet and risk their health but I wish they wouldn't do it in public as it does make...
  6. Years ago I was told they buckwheat came from dedicated fields but that may have changed. However I have never have any issues with their products. This is from the link to their site: "The Birkett Mills processes its pure buckwheat food products in a self contained mill dedicated solely to buckwheat grain. No other substances are processed in our buckwheat...
  7. #1 type of safe shampoo Suave, Dove and Garneir will all clearly label gluten ingredients. I use Garneir for all skin and hair care most of the time. #2 have crest toothpaste, appears OK, hoping it is gluten free As far as I know Crest is safe, I use Tom's of Maine though so I can't be positive. #3 hand soap for the house and bathrooms ...
  8. Sorry you are feeling so awful. How long have you been gluten free? We can have some ups and downs for awhile. Did you have that sausage with gluten-free pasta? If you did is the strainer you used a new one? We need a new one to prevent CC from the gluten pastas we ate before diagnosis. It is also possible that the sausage spices and grease were just too...
  9. Great to hear all went well. Enjoy your honeymoon and may you have many happy gluten free years together.
  10. For me those things are associated with being glutened. Don't know if that is the case for you but if it went away gluten free and started again on the challenge it seems it might be. Your body may be signaling that your hungry more often because the gluten is affecting your bodies ability to absorb nutrients.
  11. The villi are microscopic so a doctor can not tell if those are gone by just looking. Sometimes things will look fine and then the biopsy comes back and it is positive. No matter what the results of the biopsy you do need to get on and stay on the diet. False negatives on both blood and biopsy are all too common. Your blood tests that came back positive are...
  12. Yea it is normal for me also. I get depressed, severely, sometimes one eyelid will droop along with some difficulty with balance, speech etc. For me I get more of a 'speed' effect at first and bounce off the walls and then will be more sleepy and tired than normal a couple days later. Not everyone will get neuro effects but it isn't unusual.
  13. If it is available in your area Pocono Buckwheat is grown and processed near me. They only grow buckwheat and only process buckwheat so there is no CC issues with it. I even buy the hulls to use as mulch and the dry ones to stuff pillows. I think they have a website where you can order it but I am not sure.
  14. To test for celiac they need to do an endoscopy rather than a colonscopy. Do be sure to tell the doctors how much being gluten free helped and insist that they do testing for celiac first not last. Good luck.
  15. They are not worth the risk of consuming. In supplements or food they can be added and you may still see a gluten free label but most of us will react.
  16. It looks like the only test done on your husband was the total IGA and that isn't a celiac test. If he has low total IGA then that would mean his antigliadin IGA related tests would be a false negative. But even with normal IGA we can still have false negatives with testing. You and your husband should both have a full celiac panel done. Celiac is strongly...
  17. From what you have been eating one thing that jumped out to me is the Muesli. Does it have oats? Some of us don't tolerate even gluten free oats. I'm sorry your feeling so awful and hope your feeling better soon.
  18. Welcome to the board and sorry you are having such a hard time. You mention starting up a home daycare. Do you also the kids in the day care to consume gluten in the house? If you do that may account for your setback. We even need to be careful with stuff like Playdoh and paints for the kids as those can be an issue for us. Eat as much whole unprocessed...
  19. There are more than just those genes associated with celiac. My DD was told after being both blood and biopsy diagnosed that she wasn't celiac and the other tests were wrong based solely on the fact that when tested a few years later for those genes that she didn't have celiac and never would. That prompted me to also test my genes and I found that I carry...
  20. Try not to freak out too much about the EMG. Your nerves should heal if not to normal then likely to near normal levels. You might want to call your neuro and ask if he can give you a script for physical therapy. That might help a bit with speeding along your strength and dexterity. I went from Canadian canes or walls to walk, flat line EMG's on my leg...
  21. There are false negatives with both blood and biopsy but when one or the other is positive then chances are extremely good that he has celiac. He will need his own condiments, butter, and if you do more grilling for him it should either be done on a grill that is dedicated to gluten free food or on foil. He will also need his own toaster, a new strainer...
  22. I think so. Antibody production can also build up so a low positive on a celiac test could go into a strong postive down the line. IMHO even if the antibodies are at low levels it is wise to drop what is causing the antibodies rather than continueing to injest until your antibodies reach high levels.
  23. You sure aren't alone there. I have DH and for me the DH used to show up before the tummy issues. For me it is a three day wait for a reaction but in my particular case the GI reaction is sudden and nasty. Everyone's body is different though and for some the build up is more gradual. Do keep your doctor in the loop and maybe do a diary of food injestion...
  24. Great news. They big day is almost here and glad to hear it has worked out safely. I bet the cake will be beautiful. Enjoy your day.
  25. Yes it can be normal. Not everyone has a sudden return to full blown GI distess.
