  1. On their page with the 'no gluten source' 'trace gluten' and 'has gluten' lists I found the following which makes me wonder if they know what gluten is. How could a confection called 'barley sugar' be listed under the 'no gluten source'? I think I shall pass on Cadbury chocolates. Open Original Shared Link PASCALL No Gluten Source Barley Sugar...
  2. If no precautions were taken then you likely did get CC'd from the place. When you are feeling better go in and talk to the owner and let them know what they need to do to cook gluten-free pizza safely.
  3. Is there someplace else you can stay while the demolition is going on? If not seal off the room with sheets of heavy plastic. I would literally tape the workers in there and if there is a door to the outside from that room have them use it. If you dampen drywall seams before sanding that can keep the dust down a bit. Good luck. When we remodeled we used tongue...
  4. It may also be withdrawl. What you are describing is very similiar to what I experienced when I went through withdrawl. For me it just one day lifted, hopefully if it is withdrawl you will wake up soon and it will be gone. Do get the report on the vitamin levels also as sometimes, as mentioned, the levels can be really low and doctors will still call the...
  5. What is in the crust mix? You may be intolerant to something other than gluten that is in that. You could try making a crustless cheesecake and see if you suffer the same effect.
  6. Your problem may have been gluten in the beer. Gluten for some of us is addictive and when you combine it with alcohol it can be a double whammy. I would wait until you have been gluten free for a bit longer before you try the gluten-free alcoholic beverages. Give yourself time to heal and get through any withdrawl you may experience off of the gluten. When...
  7. Thanks for the link. The most important info for me is this Please note however, that other than our LAY'S
  8. Your best off to continue with your regular diet and not going gluten light until the tests are done. There is a chance of a false negative even on a full gluten diet. The day they finish your testing you can go gluten free.
  9. I second Triscuits and also Cream of Wheat. I used both of those for my challenge.
  10. If he has been diagnosed with dermatitis herpeformis he has celiac and no further testing is needed. I have a feeling your little guy will be feeling much better soon. Get him on the diet and do get blood testing done on the rest of the family even if they don't seem to have symptoms. Welcome to the board and read as much as you can and feel free to post...
  11. You may be freaking out because you were glutened. Gluten tends to spike anxiety and depression issues in those of us prone to them. That said if this happens frequently you should bring it up with your doctor at your next visit. Hopefully the C will resolve on the diet. Make sure you are getting enough fiber with some cooked fruits and veggies. Sweet potatos...
  12. Great that can make it so much easier. If the chef in the family needs or wants tips there are a lot of good books coming out with recipes as well as the thread here. The home page here has lists of allowed and not allowed stuff if you folks haven't got one already.
  13. I don't know how 'normal' it is but I get that after being glutened also. I do agree that you may want to run it by your doctor especially if it continues.
  14. Loey don't be reluctant to get a cane to keep by your bed. The extra 'foot' can help to stave off some of those falls.
  15. Glad your contacting your doctor. You might want to get stool samples taken to make sure you have not got a case of food poisoning. I had salmonella for almost 3 weeks and my doctor thought it was just my IBS (I was prediagnosis then) acting up. Boy was she apologetic when those lab reports came back.
  16. I find Pepto Bismal liquid stops the pain very quickly and I rarely need a second dose. Welcome to the board. There is a lot to learn about being gluten free as it involves much more than just the food we eat. Your in a great place to learn about all you need to do to keep yourself safe. Make sure you have your own new dedicated toaster, replace any wooden...
  17. You may want to get some potato vodka and give that a try in those martini's. You may find you stay awake and have less ill effects. Some of us are sensitive to distilled gluten grains. I drink just one distilled gluten vodka drink and don't remember anything for the rest of the night and awake with a horrible hangover. I can drink potato vodka in 3 or 4...
  18. Isn't it just like our doctors to give meds for symptoms first rather than try to figure out what the issue is. (okay rant over) Do ask the derm to biopsy for DH. Make sure that the doctor knows how to do it. The biopsy needs to be taken from beside the lesion not the lesion itself and they need to be looking for DH at the lab. If your only symptom...
  19. Did you taper off the Donnatal? If you didn't the dizziness may be related to withdrawl. As far as the scratchy throat goes I would mention it to the doctor but if no other issues arrise he will likely be able to go ahead with the proceduare as planned. Do let him know if you get sicker though and start running a fever or develop other symptoms.
  20. You really need to get back on the diet. What you may be dealing with is gluten ataxia which means that the antibodies are attacking your brain. I know it is a pain to be gluten free but it is what you need to do. Sublingual B12 can help the nervous system heal faster but what will help the most is getting back on the diet.
  21. Yes unfortunately all of that is from the pizza and oreo's (the Reese's pnut butter cups are safe gluten wise). The gluten food triggered an antibody response which then courses through your system and causes the problems you are seeing. Don't beat yourself up to much for your mistake. Your body is doing that enough. You now know how severe the reaction can...
  22. If the rash is DH it can take some time to resolve. You should stop getting lesions or they should go down in intensity after a bit if you are really stict with the diet and what you put on your body. Even the tiniest amount of gluten will keep those antibodies active, that's the reason I advised holding off on the supplement with oats. I know how frustrating...
  23. Do you still live at home and have someone else who is cooking for you? If so it might be a good idea to have them come here and read some of the posts in the recipe and coping section as well as the section of freinds and loved ones of celiacs. They can ask any questions they need to, as can you. We are here to help you and your family. It is also important...
  24. I saw one of the best naturopaths in my state and was positively shocked how little he knew about what celiacs can and cannot tolerate. He got me with everything he prescribed. Unfortuately we can never take it for granted that even folks that seem knowledgeable really know how little gluten we react to. Your rash may be DH which can take some time to resolve...
  25. I would talk to her regular doctor if that doctor had been seeing her when she was ill and then referred her to the GI. Make a 'check up' visit and after the exam talk to the doctor about the issue. He/She will be able to see how much better your DD is doing gluten free. Let the doctor know she is going to college and see if he will diagnose based on her...
